A Glass of Kool-Aid With Jackie Cilley

“In our time political speech and writing are largely the defense of the indefensible. George Orwell

Former State Senator Jackie Cilley waxed in awe(Union Leader“Another View”) when President Obama addressed the nation late Sunday Night to tell us Bin Laden was dead. Cilley writes, “This is the essence of leadership and courage, lest we forget what it looks like. It also sharply contrasts this man and the current crop of contenders for his job.” Little more than a disquisition of gushery, Cilley suggests Obama is the essence of leadership and the Republican candidates are a bunch of pedestrian neddle-nosed light-weights.

And while Jackie made quick work of diving into the all-too-typical topically boring, class-warfare laden template of caricaturing GOP hopefuls as money-grubbing wind bags, she rounds out her observations with a slaps at all things antithetical to rank liberalism. Rounding out her diatribe with some “Blame Bush” doctrinal morsels, as a true partisan will do, Jackie seems to be suggesting that Democrat campaign money comes from hard working folks and not the like of Move-on,  George Soros or any of the other Kool-Aid drinking commie-libs. Oh No, that never happens, Does it, Jackie?

Yet, while taking some partisan shots at, “The Donald,” RINO Mitt Romney, Michelle Bachman and Tim Pawlenty, Jackie suffers from selective and acute amnesia failing to remember her own darling community organizer’s light-weight bumblings.  Remember when Obama told voters in Beaverton Oregon about his visits to “57 States.” And, while addressing voters in Pennsylvania, he quipped, “It’s not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations…”

My all time favorite is the National Prayer Breakfast bumble February of last year, where he repeatedly mispronounced, Navy Corpsman (Cor-man) not just once, but four times saying, “Corpse-man”.

Finally, this knee-slapper: “My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.”

So when Jackie finally finishes throwing mud at the Tea Party, the Birthers, Republicans and Bush, she extols the virtues of Obama with, “Every element of the mission that brought down bin Laden speaks to the character of the man who bore the ultimate responsibility for its failure if not its success…” Now that, is just plain-old Sheep manure.

Rumblings from inside the white house claim that Obama was “overruled” by military/intelligence officials in the decision to execute the mission into the Osama Bin Laden compound. Solid assertions imply there had been a certain steadfastness for several weeks if not months, to raid the compound, led by Leon Panetta, Hillary Clinton, Robert Gates, David Petraeus, and Jim Clapper. Opposition to mission came from Obama via Valerie Jarrett, whose opposition fueled Obama’s uncertainty.  Despite multitudes of meetings with this pro-invasion team within his cabinet, Jarrett’s presence cause him reticence and Obama failed to take a position for some serious period of time. That is the Obama we all know, now isn’t it?

This part is amusing!  The unnamed White house source claimed that CIA Chief Leon Panetta had a covert operations program in place for quite some time that reported to him and him alone. Panetta then made plans to green light an on-ground assault and by the time Obama was summoned, the mission was already under way.

All of this is very easy to dismiss out of hand because the sources are not named. But, when one weighs these assertions against Obama’s serial pattern of indecisiveness in the foreign policy arena, the pattern certainly suggests consistency and status quo, thereby lending the blog significant credibility.

Nino Saviano in The Hill writes,  The president’s instinct may be good. His response can, at times, be too slow. His delivery begs for improvement. His assertiveness is definitely lacking. 2 years ago following the Piracy of the Maersk Alabama, SC Hotline Blog writes scathingly, “The President’s performance in this situation would merit a D-. Only reason it’s not an F is that the hostage survived. I hate to be so critical of our new President, but this is the price of leadership. He asked for it and now he can learn what President Bush’s learned, they are called hard decisions for a reason.”

“Every element of the mission that brought down bin Laden speaks to the character of the man who bore the ultimate responsibility for its failure if not its success…” Not even close to being good analysis, Jackie. First, Obama appears to not have prior knowledge about the operation until it was well underway.  What does that say about his leadership when his own cabinet acts as though it’ll be easier to ask forgiveness than to ask for permission. Second, if it had been an abysmal failure, He’d have stepped right up to the mike, saying, “I didn’t know about this….Rogue elements of my cabinet did this without my authorization…and heads will role…” Obama would have thrown Panetta right under the bus.  In final analysis, his cabinet knew what the right thing to do was and they dragged him to the table kicking and screaming, with ever-so-useless Valerie Jarrett attached to his hip. Finally, this reveals how little the cabinet trusts Obama in matters of vital foreign policy.

Okay, Jackie…time to put down the Kool-Aid and a let the adults run the country. On the birth-certificate issue, why didn’t he simply release the thing in the first place? “No-drama Obama” is really, “All drama Obama”  Second, when the stakes are so high that cabinet level officials withhold and obfuscate information, in order to complete a mission objective because the President is unreliable for his decisiveness, that bears looking at by the voters.  Finally, it was Thomas Sowell who once said, “Talkers are usually more articulate than doers, since talk is their specialty.” Obama is not a doer…nor will he ever be. His track record clearly shows that. It was others before him who sewed the seeds and cultivated the crops….Obama came along and “picked the fruit.”
