Guest Post: Richard Olson Jr. “Send In The Clowns”

The Union Leader featured a story this morning on JR Hoell’s Constitutional Carry Bill. For better or worse, JR’s version of the bill has drawn the ire of some within the Republican party ranks. Many Republicans simply don’t like JR’s bill and have said so…not just objecting to the bill but doing so in a spirited manner.

While the UL’s Mark Hayward story gives a description of some of the things the bill would allegedly do, the story also contains statements that the leadership disavowed this piece of legislation. Regardless of where one stands either supporting HB 523 or HB 330, it is clear that Republicans agree to disagree on some levels.

Enter latest Democrat caterwauler and soothsayer, Harrell Kirstein who asserts, "the clowns have already poured out of the circus tent…” Looking back to the last two legislatures, how many bills did Granite Stater’s see that clearly were, "over the top?"

When the Democrats undertook a radical, leftist progressive liberal agenda sailing through the house with the littlest of regard for the electorate, running over the top of the minority, there was never a single meaningful statement from within opposing such legislation. Consequently, in November of 2010, the voters made that statement for them.

Regardless of where one stands on either piece of gun legislation, there is one constant here. Republicans are willing to publicly have the tough conversations and call out their own. Democrats are not. Such is the demonstration of honesty while silence is not.

The even larger irony in this latest punch line from Harrell is the calling of Republicans, "Clowns" while Ray Buckley, Kathy Sullivan and Mike Brunelle scurry about as if wearing oversized shoes and big red noses. Every time these three opens their mouths, one is left with a snap visual of a Marx Brothers routine being played out in hi definition. Bet none of them can do a cartwheel.
