Redistribution of wealth

The Obama disaster tour is on the road complaining about how the Republicans are going to cut education funding by 20%.  First, let me clarify that federal education funding could get cut 100% and I’d start to feel better, but since 20% is what we have to work with let’s work with it.

This number comes from the goal of rolling back the budget to 2008 levels.  To do that the Department of Education would–according to Obama–lose 20% of its current funding.

So what?

You want to know why so what?  Because that 20% goes back to the states and the people, who can then decide if they actually need to spend another 20% on their local education or on something else like firefighters or policeman or roads.

You can apply this metric to every department, every office, and every function of the federal government,  with but a few small (very small) exceptions.  20% should be a starting point.

And before my liberal friends get their panties in a bunch, allow me to rephrase this policy position in a manner in which they may actually understand it.

We are going to redistribute the wealth back to the states and the people, who can then feel free to spend it based, not on the priorities of the current majority in Washington DC, but based on their own particular want’s and needs.

So no one is denying teachers anything, they are simply trying to move the money closer to actual teachers.  I mean can you believe this guy Obama?  Complaining like that. You think he’d be thanking us.
