John ‘Job Destroyer’ Lynch ….Bad for New Hampshire

by Steve MacDonald

In July of 2009 New Hampshire had 707,710 people employed and working in state.

In July 2010 New Hampshire had 696,730 people employed and working in the state.

So even thought the unemployment ‘rate’ is 8/10’s of a percent lower this year, there are 10,980 fewer people working here than a year ago.  That’s almost 11,000 people who are out of work because of John Lynch’s policies.

If that’s not bad enough, the State work force–the number of people reported as available to work– has declined by 16,320 since July of 2009.

John Lynch didn’t create a better job situation, he simply scared off enough people to make the absence of almost 11,000 jobs look like an improvement.  5.8% is better than 6.6% right?  Tell that to the 11,000 people who lost their jobs or the thousands more who gave up on John Lynch’s New Hampshire.

So what happens if we add those "missing" job seekers back into the equation?  What is the real unemployment rate if the 16,320 people who gave up were added back into the work force totals?

7.8%

Would John Lynch be bragging about a 7.8% unemployment rate?  Probably not.  And there is a lesson to be learned here.  Everything else about his stewardship is just as twisted.  There is no surplus when the budget has been topped off with hundreds of millions in one time federal money. There is a massive structural deficit not a balanced budget.  He’s not the husband of low taxes or a high quality of life, he has simply failed to adequately destroy them with scores of fees and taxes, and policies that he had to abandon when the people stood up to object.

No, Lynch is not good for New Hampshire, he’s just good at hiding how bad he is for New Hampshire. But if you give him another trip to the well, he may find a way to finish the job.
