Maybe Maggie “Squats With Lobbyists” Hassan Just Wants A Casino Bailout?

As our Democrat Governor tries to improve her odds at winning a bet on a state gambling monopoly in northern New England, AP is reporting hard times for the Indian Casino monopoly in the southern part of New England.  The Indian tribes, who got the law changed to allow them to put up casinos as a way to pay for their needs way back when, got so busy relying on other peoples gambling money for their free ride that when that money dried up, (down economy, waste, bad spending decisisons, abuse, because they are entitield) they figured they’d go running back to Uncle Sam for a bailout.

It’s millions of dollars, just sitting there, to which the ‘law’ entitles them, and as the song goes, they aint too proud to beg.

Dan Eaton Holds Kids Hostage

Image Credit: The Marketeer - Get the five.comNew Hampshire House Democrat Dan Eaton left office under investigation for intimidation and corruption.  He returned under the umbrella of returning civility to Concord.  Yet Eaton is proof that there never was any, not from the NH Democrat Leadership.  And now that he’s back and in charge of the powerful finance committee, he’s being who Dan Eaton is.  Someone who uses his office to help…Dan Eaton.

That is why Dan Eaton took a bill everyone likes, that would fix the charter school situation, and should have breezed out of the legislature and into law, and held it hostage.

Colt Manufacturing President and CEO Dennis Veilleux penned an Editorial on March 18th in regard to Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy’s obsession with banning “assault’ rifles.

Colt … manufactures the AR-15 platform rifles in a military version and a very different commercial version. Colt has manufactured the commercial semi-automatic version of the AR (one shot for each trigger pull) since 1963. The AR-15 has evolved into the modern sporting rifle. It is owned and used responsibly by millions of Americans for hunting, target shooting and home defense. This product is the backbone of our business and is very important to us and our customers.

The CDC and your children

CDC

I have two sons in high school, 15 and 16 years old.  This week, I received an email from the school, informing me that they were going to be taking a “Youth Risk Behavior” survey, which is a component of the CDC’s “Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System” (YRBSS), in conjunction with the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Right out of the gate, I have measurable trepidation about schools (and teachers) and their assumed role as surrogate parents; a role which I do not subscribe to, opting to actually play the role myself. Sadly, many parents don’t feel this way and have subtly and unknowingly abdicated much of their parental duty to the schools and to the ever-encroaching State and Federal governments.  This dovetails with the disturbing trend away from personal responsibility and accountability across much of our current society.

So, you can imagine how I felt after reading the survey, itself.

Student Suspended From Class When He Refuses To Step On Jesus

stomp on jesusThe latest White Tower Liberal to speak truth to power is Florida Atlantic University Professor Deandre Poole.  Professer Poole,

Currently serves as a precinct captain for Precinct 7021 in West Palm Beach, as a club officer for the Together We Stand Democratic Club, and a member of the West Palm Beach Democratic Club. (…)  In April 2011, Dr. Poole was appointed to the position of Recording Secretary for the Palm Beach County Democratic Executive Committee.

Executive Committee Democrat Dr. Denadre Poole’s claim to fame?  He asked his students to write the name ‘Jesus’ on a piece of paper, put it on the floor, think about it and then step on it.  The Stomp on Jesus lesson is making national news because, one student objected and was dismissed from the class.  He was not expelled from the University as some have reported but he was suspended from the class.  The University initially backed the professor but Stomp on Jesus U has since apologized. and claims that lesson will no longer be taught.

My question?  Poole’s bio shows him listed as a member of a local Christian church, but it also states that he wrote his Howard University Doctoral Thesis on Obama Media Mythology, and is writing a book titled:  Obamamania: The Rise of a Mythical Hero.

Why not ask people to stomp on “Obama?”

One Lesson Why Government Should Be Made To Move Slowly…

New York State and it’s governor acted with great haste in the wake of the Newtown tragedy, writing and enacting even tougher gun control laws than they already had. But a state permitted to legislate like a three year old who has just discovered a spider on their arm is destined to make mistakes.  Government should … Read more

Timmyz In For A Rude Awakening

“Truth never penetrates an unwilling mind.”  – J. L. Borges

Joseph M. Gallagher - No Such address - stole your vote in 2000
Joseph M. Gallagher – No Such address

Like most people who foment voter fraud, either by assisting in it or simply ignoring its existence, Rep Timothy Horrigan (D- Land of Voter Fraud) are not long for a very rude awakening.  But in advance of this tumultuous awakening, Horrigan is quoted by WMUR in defense of his bill to repeal the New Hampshire voter ID law currently in place.

Rep. Timothy Horrigan, D-Durham, argued for repeal, saying the voter ID law is “an excessive solution to a virtually nonexistent problem.” Horrigan said no evidence of voter fraud exists in the state.

Emphasis mine.

Repeal was not embraced, though the Democrats have halted any additional provisions until the AG is done lying about the existence of voter fraud, much the way every AG has for most of (at least) the last decade.

The problem is not that it does not exist, it is that either no one wants to be bothered or the fraud favors those tasked with the looking.

NH House Kills Casino Bill HB 665

Maggie Hassan Rolls the Dice on Imaginary Gambling Revenu

Immediate Release: House Kills 2-Casino Bill By Nearly 4-1 Margin
Contact: Jim Rubens, (603) 359-3300

This morning the House killed HB665 by a 249-65. HB665 would have permitted two casinos, one in the North Country and one along the Massachusetts border.

“Today’s vote shows how little support exists for a casino bill lacking the muscle provided by the construction unions and Millennium Gaming’s fleet of lobbyists and PR flaks,” said Jim Rubens, chairman of Granite State Coalition Against Expanded Gambling. “On its objective merit, casino gambling utterly fails among legislators weighing the arguments on both sides.”

Jim goes on to point out some things about another gambling bill, SB152.

New Hampshire House Votes to Raise Tobacco Taxes

The ten cent resolution, that one thin (not so thin) dime New Hampshire Republicans cut off the tobacco tax two years ago, expires shortly.   At the time it photos-of-extinguished-cigarette - Tobacco taxes in danger thanks to Obamacarewas proposed and passed the left was so insane with outrage that you’d have thought Republicans were selling guns to foreign drug lords across the border who were killing agents of the federal government and innocent civilians as well.  But some Democrat president was the one who’d done that so there was no moral call to war; New Hampshire Democrats were as quiet as church mice.  (Regular Church mice, the social justice Church mice are noisy sums-o-beeches–and likely protected by a stimulus grant through the EPA.) But that ten cent tax?  That was a crime against humanity.

But it was probably doomed from the start.

All Things being Equal…

Any minute now the left will begin to caterwaul about how unfair it is to not only reward teachers who have more prestigious degrees, but to demand that they have degrees at all.  After all, this kind of wage inequality…

…it could be ‘devastating’ to the (those) who worked hard, but fell short….

OK.  That’s never going to happen, but–all things being equal– it should because those are actually the words (slightly edited for effect) of a professional educator.  A member of the ‘everyone gets a trophy’ club,  David Fabrizio, the principal of Ipswich Middle School in Massachusetts.  Mr. Fabrizio let parents know that the long standing custom of celebrating academic excellence–Honor’s Night–was being cancelled, because “… it could be ‘devastating’ to the students who worked hard, but fell short of the grades.”

Well thanks for that benchmark Mr. Fabrizio. (Though it is hardly the first time we’ve heard this sort of nonsense.)
