About That 90%

jayne and veraFor those inclined to continue the relentless regurgitation of democrat demagoguery about how many Americans want more federal gun control, well–there’s this, from that bastion of right wing extremism, USA Today.

Americans are more narrowly divided on the issue than in recent months, and backing for a bill has slipped below 50%, the poll finds. By 49%-45%, those surveyed favor Congress passing a new gun-control law. In an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll in early April, 55% had backed a stricter gun law, which was down from 61% in February. …

Not to worry.  The anti-executive order President of the people will be doing anything and everything he can with executive orders to give the people what they do not seem to want.

Taxes? We don’t pay no stinkin’ taxes!

Taxes? We don’t pay no stinkin taxes!

Peggy Gilmour and I were both graduated from college in 1973 (it only took me three years).  She went on for a graduate degree in nursing and I went o nto the family coal business and then some.  Though Ms. Gilmour dropped off the radar screen for a period of time – at least according to the free bits at LinkedIn – at some point in our respective careers, we were both CEOs.  As such, I would like to think that each of us had a passing understanding of state and federal tax codes and the implication of same on our respective businesses; truth be told, it did not take a rocket scientist to understand that the short version is – they either paid taxes on the income they earned or they were exempt from paying taxes on the income they earned.

Abhor-Shun Clinic to Close

An abhor-shun (Abortion) clinic in Virigina Beach will be closing after 40 years of performing the Democrat parties master-race “eugenics as rights” policies. The Virginian-Pilot reports that the abortion clinic’s closure comes about a week after Virginia’s Board of health voted to implement a law requiring abortion facilities “to meet strict, hospital-style building codes.” It … Read more

HB 135 Deputy Dawg Shurtleff ‘Stand Your Ground Repeal’ – NH State Senate Hearing is Tomorrow

New Hampshire: Shurtleff Criminal Protection Bill Scheduled for Senate Committee Hearing in Concord on Tuesday

On Tuesday, April 23, the Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to hear House Bill 135. Introduced by state Representative Stephen Shurtleff (D- Merrimack 11), HB 135 will render law-abiding citizens defenseless victims by removing consequences for criminal activity. The New Hampshire House of Representatives already undermined your inherent right to self-defense by passing the Shurtleff Criminal Protection Bill by a 189-184 vote on March 27.

HB 135 would repeal important self-defense provisions enacted in 2011, making the following changes to New Hampshire’s current self-defense laws:

Black Market Bloomberg

smoking - what about the tobacco taxes in New Hampshire

New York City Mayor Mike ‘Big Gulp’ Bloomberg has proposed raising the smoking age in New York City from 18 to 21 years of age.  A companion proposal would hike the price of a pack of cigarettes to more than ten dollars per pack, presumably to a) convince more people to quit and b) recover revenue lost by prohibiting a big chunk of the tax base from paying taxes on cigarettes they are no longer permitted to smoke.

But how does New York’s evil super genius plan to recover the revenue lost to the expansion of the black market?

‘Our belief in individual liberty makes us inconvenient…’

Happy face?
Is this a happy face?

Some things are so well written they should be read in their entirety.  Case in point is the piece via Ace.  We are faced with a President who seems to have no interest whatsoever in dissenting views and in the face of legislative defeat, gives those dissenting views a great big finger and a warning that he is not finished.. I’m one of the older Groksters and I cannot remember a president in my lifetime that – at least in public – could not contain his dislike of the very people he purports to lead.

A meditation on abortion in America…

Why, exactly, is this woman smiling?
Why, exactly, is this woman smiling?

…and the hubris-laden Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade in 1973. But wait. It does read in part that “If abortion is evil, almost everybody is at least a little bit guilty. There have been more than 50 million abortions in America since 1973….Maybe you’ve had, or facilitated, one. Very likely someone you know has had one, and do you want to call her a murderer?”

The entire essay can be read below.

If you See Something Say Something…or something.

Now that Bill Ayers-like terrorism has reared its ugly head again, the same people who have asked you repeatedly to spy on your neighbors, share their emails, and report them to the government,  would like you be an extra set of eyes yet again.  “If you see something, say something.”  I guess all that previous spying didn’t work out that well.  That was probably because they wanted you to spy on Republicans, libertarians, bloggers like us.  But despite what you’ve been see something binoculars spyingprogrammed to believe, we’re too busy working and taking care of our homes and families.  And while we may not love the current leaderships, we do love law and order, and a society that is allowed to function freely.

That doesn’t happen when you blow things up.  In fact just the opposite happens.  But back to the problem of spying on your neighbors and fellow citizens.  The buzz phrase is “if you see something, say something.”  This is both asinine (as if you wouldn’t want to do that already) and hypocritical.  It’s hypocritical because the same people who want you to report your suspicions are the same people who will let their media and political guard dogs tear your limbs off if there is even the slightest chance that you said what you said because you are a racist.
