Who is keeping the government “shutdown™” again?

1. Roll Call 478 on H.J. Res. 59 (September 20, 2013)

Earlier in September, House Republicans voted to fund the government at current spending levels while strengthening our economy and protecting millions of American families by defunding ObamaCare.

Senate Democrats killed the bill, and President Obama threatened to veto it.

 

2. Roll Call 497/498 on H.J. Res 59 (September 28, 2013)

With hours left until the government ran out of funding, House Republicans voted to keep the government open at current spending levels while protecting our economy by delayingthe glitch-filled ObamaCare for one year and repealing the tax on medical devices like pacemakers and children’s hearing aides.

Senate Democrats killed the bill, and President Obama threatened to veto it, causing the government shutdown.

Judith Cherbonneau of Claremont has posted a petition on Change.org asking New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan to take another look at the stand your ground law in New Hampshire.

Calling for “Stand Your Ground” laws to be reviewed is a bipartisan effort. President Obama spoke out on the need for review, and prominent Republicans like Senator John McCain have joined him.

“Stand Your Ground” was never meant to give aggressors the opportunity to get away with murder, but unfortunately that is sometimes the case. And after Trayvon Martin’s death, even former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who signed into law the first Stand Your Ground bill in the country, said: “‘Stand your ground’ means ‘stand your ground.’ It doesn’t mean ‘chase after somebody who’s turned their back.'”

Wait.  Isn’t that the petition to Governor Pat McCrory of North Carolina.  Or was that the wording for the petition to the governor of Arizona?  Was it Louisiana?  Maybe it was Virginia, or Alabama, or Pennsyl…you know what.  It was all of them and then some.  They are all exactly the same.

The Lord Helps Those Who Help Themselves…..to other people’s money under threat of fines or imprisonment?  Not likely.

But that is apparently the lesson to be learned after vandals aligned with the Party of Civility® (that’s sarcasm people) wrote a message on the side of the NH-GOP Headquarters in Concord, shown Below.

WWJD usually means What Would Jesus Do?  I’m happy to take suggestions but I think, in this context, it means “We Will Just Destroy…Healthcare for Everyone.”

Pete Silva is running for the New Hampshire House, but are the odds stacked against him?

We already pointed out that his opponent in the race, NH Democrat Latha Mangipudi, harbored an NH-AG Approved™ transient ballot-box stuffer at her home in 2012.

Pete’s old neighbors, David Tarbay and Linda Ziman, sold their house in 1997 to Kevin and Donna Collins.  Tarbay and Ziman have not lived there for 15 years (Ziman owns a home in Maynard, MA) but they loved that old house so much that in November 2012 they voted absentee in New Hampshire from that 15 year old Nashua address, the election in which Silva lost his seat.  Oh, and they voted absentee from that address in 2008 as well.

And as if that were not bad enough…

Once again the Nashua paper fails to ask the questions that would expose voter fraud – they have been doing this since 2001 that I know of.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie argued that you must first ‘Get Republicans’ Elected if you want policy decisions made from a Republican perspective.

To my ear that admonition is little different from the phrase ‘We need more” teachers (cops, firefighters, social workers).  The result of more of any of those things is not necessarily better education, safer streets, fewer fires, or stronger families.   You will produce bigger budgets, higher taxes, and more bureaucracy, but that is about all you can guarantee.

You get the exact same result when the nostrum for the GOP’s misfortune hinges entirely on the idea that all we must do is elect someone with an (R) after their name. We just need more republicans.

If it is not “terrorism, or extremism” for the government to “reduce” our Household budgets when they come to take their taxes why is it “terrorism or extremism” when we simply ask the government to stop reducing our budgets by reducing theirs?

It is our property first.   If we do not earn it so that they can take it, the government would cease to exist.

This same government that calls us extremists and terrorists uses intimidation and the threat of force and/or imprisonment to take our property.   They reduce our budgets at will through taxes, fees, and monitory policy that devalues our incomes or regulations that increase the costs of goods or services, typically both.  That is not terrorism or extremism but if we stand up or gather to speak against this path toward ruin we are branded as terrorists and extremists.

I’ve been prodding the left to submit state level bills on enhancing background checks—we already have them so any more would be “enhancing” the ones we have–and we finally have some Democrats stepping up to the plate.
