Student testing, statewide testing, has been an issue for years. Parents can opt their children out of these tests, and there is ample support for this right. But administrators obsessed with participation rates have no legal disincentives.

EPA chief Scott Pruitt just sent a message to consumers and car makers that he’s okay with them deciding what sort of fuel efficiency they want in a motor vehicle.
He just scrapped Obama’s Federal CAFE Standards.
In a statement, Mr. Pruitt said the program, known as the Corporate Average Fuel Economy, or CAFE standards, fell victim to politics during the final days of the Obama administration. He said his predecessors at the EPA rushed through rules governing fuel economy for model years 2022 through 2025, and that those rules simply aren’t realistic.
The New Hampshire State Senate passed two bills that redistribute dollars by forcing energy companies to buy more expensive electricity from North Country “green” energy generators.
“…the measures are needed, say backers of both bills, to preserve a total of 900 jobs.
Many of those jobs are “in areas of the state where people can’t easily be retrained, where they worked in the woods all their lives with chainsaws and logging,” Sen. Jeb Bradley, R-Wolfeboro.

One of Ed Mosca’s latest examines New Hampshire Public Radios’s effort to gloss over the fact that New Hampshire State Law discriminates against New Hampshire residents. In his rebuttal to a piece by Casey McDermott, Ed notes that,
“..what actually comes to mind are thousands of out-of-State college students who choose to remain residents of their home States getting special rights no other voters in New Hampshire get: the right to choose between voting in their home States or in New Hampshire.
On Wednesday, a Los Angeles judge ruled in favor of a nonprofit that sued 90 coffee companies over claims that they had failed to comply with a state law that requires businesses to warn consumers about chemicals in their products that could cause cancer, Reuters reported.
The lawsuit, filed in 2010 by the Council for Education and Research on Toxics, pointed to a chemical called acrylamide that exists in brewed coffee.
And while coffee is today’s target, tomorrow’s could be one of these foods.
