A wee bit of doggeral – Lynch style

Steve has been doing yeoman’s work on the "Lynch grabs for the gay Brass ring" story for a few months now – from a list that Steve put together:

and has been showing for a while that Lynch is definitely earning the moniker of "Lynch Lied" (you know, they oughta make a website about that – Oh Yeah, they DID!)

Anyways, I wrote the below (With the normal apologies to actual poets everywhere) after I received a Press Release (below) lauding the fact that the Old Media is finally starting to pick up on what Steve has been saying for a while – and it looks like NH Democrat John "Do Nuttin’" Lynch is doubling down:

Where, oh where, has Gov Lynch been?
Holding out, his wee cup of tin?

Rattle and Shake, rattle and roll
Gone to collect his share of gay dole…

What did he mumble, what did he bray,
all those whispers now, to keep voters at bay?

Heaven may know, the speech that he gave
but voters don’t, those nattering knaves!

The Media, the media, the watch dogs for us
as far as I see, they’re sleeping – in dog house!

Press Release

Concord Monitor ‘breaks’ an already reported story

The new media reported last month of Governor Lynch’s secret meeting with prominent out-of-state donors

Portsmouth, July 12, 2010:  A story that appeared in the July 10th Concord Monitor has been mischaracterized as fresh news.  In fact, the story in question was reported by numerous sources last month [and started in June  -Skip]. The Concord Monitored merely jumped on an already crowded media bandwagon in reporting that a secret behind closed- door meeting was held in May of 2010, between prominent out-of-state donors and New Hampshire Governor John Lynch.

“I am glad to have company in the reporting of this story, but the question begs to be asked – ‘where have you been?’ – stated Jeff Chidester, host of the New Hampshire Perspective radio show, who…

Blue Hampshire declares this Carol Shea-Porter Week; well, SURE THING, DEAN!

Formerly titled: “Well, my Congresswoman knows me by name and face…”; Oh, Carol??

UPDATED and BUMPED:  Well, it seems that Dean over at Blue Hampshire has decided to declare this to be "It’s Carol Shea-Porter Week on Blue Hampshire."  Well, I’m not all that much as a party dude (heh! multiple meanings) at all, but hey, if Dean wants the New Media to pitch in on Carol Shea-Porter’s behalf, who am I to say no?  So, all the Groksters will join in the celebration that is CSP.  We’ll even use a tag for just for this purpose – just because Dean asked!:

Please put a "CSP Week" tag on any Carol Shea-Porter post you write here this week

"Why Soytinly!", there Dean – happy to oblige ya!  Hmm, I’m just betting that, somehow, we may well be celebrating totally different things here at the ‘Grok than they will be at BH.  Steve has already started our parade with this post on her "why, they’re not special" special interests that are just LAVISHING gobs of cash on her – the unions.

You know,  one of the things that one should judge a politician on is whether or not she will keep her promises to her constituents – of which, I am one.  And she made a Promise to this Blue Star Dad (twice over).

AND SHE HAS STILL FAILED TO FULFILL THAT PROMISE!!!!

========================================

I was having a conversation last night with another guy that "does politics" and was remarking on the fact that retail politics IS the norm here in NH as opposed to the mass media market approaches that are the standard in other states.  The small physical size and population (relatively speaking) allows and encourages it.  Here, we CAN talk to the candidates and office holders directly – it is taken for granted where in other states, very few of the electorate get to know even those from their own Party, much less the other Party.

So I guess I am blessed – Carol Shea-Porter actually knows my face and my name – albeit, perhaps not as a "good" omen. But she admitted that her office knows how to get ahold of me.

But I’M SO DARSH GONE EXCITED!!!  She actually sent me a letter on her Official Congressman Letterhead THANKING ME (this ordinary schlub from central New Hampsha) for attending her Town Hall event in Laconia back in early April (hey, what’s a month and a half between the elected and the electors!) – I guess filling in her after event "got a concern, fill in this form) worked:

Carol Shea-Porter letter
(larger version after the jump)

You remember – the same Town Hall where Carol Shea-Porter made a promise to a Blue Star Mom – and to me:

Problem is, when I filled in the form, I asked ONE SPECIFIC question – but her Letter didn’t address it.

Carol – when are you going to honor your promise to "get an answer quickly back" to this BLUE STAR DAD?

CNHT Annual Picnic 2010 -Featured Speaker, PJ O’Rourke!

Yesterday was the annual Picnic held by CNHT (Coalition of NH Taxpayers), a grassroots organization that works with people at the local town / city level on issues of taxation, representation, education, appraisals – well, almost anything that affects either good governance or hinders the attainment of such. CNHT Annual Picnic – US Congressional candidates – NH CD-1

OK, almost done!  Time for the NH First Congressional candidates that spoke. I’m still alphabetically tired….by straw poll results:

Frank Guinta (44 votes)

Note: Frank was the only candidate (that I can tell) that spoke and that we did not record – at times, things were a tad loosey-goosey about announcing when speakers would start up again and Frank was introduced as the Flip Cam was being emptied and I was at the far end of the building, didn’t hear the announcement, and therefore, failed to get back to the other camera in time.. Thus, the Groksters (Steve, Tom, and I) did an inpromptu Micro-Interview at the end; it is presented above.

CNHT Annual Picnic -Next up, candidates for Governor

Certainly, many of the candidates for governor showed up to the CNHT picnic – Republicans, Libertarians – but no Democrats.  Sure, the crowd may have been a tad partisan (heh!) but CNHT is NOT – all were welcome!

Just like at the Word of Life Christian Fellowship forum, all parties were invited – the Democrats were no-shows.

You know, perhaps it is time for the ‘Grok to start going to the DEMOCRAT functions – after all, they are open to the General Public, eh?  Sort of it being the case of the Mountain and Mohammed, right?  Let’s be fair – if Blue Hampshire can use my videos without attribution and Katrina Swett’s campaign use them (with an "DRAT – attribution apology sent; more than Dean ever did).

Anyways, Jack Kimball was one of the Candidates speaking (in fact, was the FIRST candidate to speak at the picnic):

Rest of the candidates after the jump…

CNHT Annual Picnic 2010 – Some pics

Ed Naille

(Ed Naile, Chair of Coalition of NH Taxpayers)

Well, as I had I posted here, and Steve has started on, the ‘Grok went to the CNHT picnic today (Tom showed up as well, TMEW helped out with the Flip Cam, and poor Tim was feeling left out as there was no WiFi or ‘Net connection).

Ed opened up the picnic with some pithy words (videos will be coming later on) and was followed by most of the higher profile candidates coming to Hillsborough’s American Legion hall.  However, truth be told, this is a PICNIC and not a campaign rally for any Party or Candidate – it IS the place, however, for Conservative activists to assemble each and every year – almost an "Old Home Day" for the Right in NH.

Sure, this year many of the activists ARE active in helping out campaigns (or running for office themselves) – but that’s what activists do – be active (and it is great sport for me to watch who is helping or working for whom or what.  Sometimes, the head goes up and down and sometimes it is a raised eyebrow with a "WHAT?  Really?")

The main speaker was NH’s own PJ O’Rourke who caught the crowd’s attention (that’s saying something with this assemblage!)

I chuckled when I read one of the observations in the article:

"I think the activists aren’t happy with the two major candidates, the two leading candidates being Ayotte and Binnie," University of New Hampshire pollster Andy Smith said in a phone interview.

Ya think? D’oh.  I’d add the same for Charlie Bass in CD-2.  Sure, these folks are raising or have the most money in their coffers. Will it be sufficient?  Can it be sufficient?
