I got this from from ‘Grok friend, Karen, who is very active with the Blue Star Mom‘s network here in NH. She is also tied into Honor Flight NE – a wonderful group that is trying to get as many of our remaining WW II vets to Washington, DC to see the memorial to their sacrifice during that war on the Washington Mall before they themselves pass into history:
Dear Members:
As many of you know we have been partnering with Honor Flight New England since last year to help get our WWII Veterans to the WWII Memorial in DC, at no cost to them.
I received an email from their director Joe Byron last night asking for help in purchasing an Oxygen Concentrator so that the World War II Veterans that are in need of oxygen when they travel can travel with this device on the flight. Their normal oxygen tanks or cylinders are not allowed on flights, but the Oxygen Concentrators provide a continuous flow of oxygen to the user without tanks or cylinders. They are battery powered oxygen delivery systems that extract some of the air from the room and separates the oxygen from the other gases. The concentrator pumps pressurized air into a container of zeolytes to extract as much nitrogen as possible. The oxygen concentrator uses ambient air as a source of oxygen by separating the oxygen, concentrating it (over 94%) and then storing it.
Honor Flight New England was contacted by generous donor who is willing to pay for half of the cost of an Oxygen Concentrator which cost $ 2,319.00. The Blue Star Mothers would like to help raise the other half for one or even be able to provide funds for two Oxygen Concentrators to be purchased. The total for two would be $ 3,478.50 ($2,319 + 1159.50-other half of one).
If you or your organization would like to help with these needed Oxygen Concentrators, please send your donation to:Honor Flight New England
