Once again – base vs Establishment. Pindell thinks Establish Reps should tell the base to buzz off – will they?

Sosnik notes that many Republicans are more concerned about losing in a primary than a general election, which makes compromise harder.

That’s a quote from Politico on a piece that a Democrat strategy claiming that the Democrat Party is in decline (especially after Obama).  The thrust of it, given the entire piece, is that Republicans are not worried about the Democrats – but are worried about what their base is thinking about them.  Now contrast that with this:

from James Pindell at WMUR’s Political Scoop.  Now, part of Pindell’s job (or seemingly, most journalists these days) are to either act as Democrat mouthpieces (like in “how much of the Gosnell killing-aborted-but-born-alive-babies murder trial?  Or in MSNBC’s “journalists” in toeing the WH line concerning Clinton’s “What does it matter now?” with Benghazi?).  So Politico is outright saying that politicians are paying more attention to their base for re-election, and WMUR is say “Hey Establishment Republicans – blow off your base“?  Such a dichotomy of awareness of the politics are playing: complete opposites.

The Dems here in NH kept the corner office, captured the Exec. Council, “waved” the House and came within two of a majority in the Senate.  Sosnik may be right in that without Obama and his machine, Doom might be the operative word on the Left.  But how much does WMUR’s Pindell believe the Establishment Rs can afford to lose of their disaffected base and still beat the Dems in the next election?

So what WOULD the difference between a Citizen and non-Citizen be?

First we have California wanting to let non-Citizens to be on juries – our “peers” that COULD eternally deprive us of my Liberty when they may still adhere to the historical and legal precepts held over from their country of origin?  How would THAT serve us well as a society?  I talked about Progressives forcibly trying to blur the lines between Citizens and non-citizens, that their sense of “Community” overrides the actual legalities of the obligations of Citizenship.

Now, we see the next shoe drop – if non-citizens are allowed to vote, what is left of the notion of what a citizen is?  From the Left  Coast to the virtual Left Coast of New York City:

New York City is poised to become the first major city to grant non-citizens the right to vote.

The New York City Council’s committees on immigration and government relations will today hold joint hearings on a proposal that would allow non-citizens to vote in city elections, and backers of the effort say they have a veto-proof majority, according to the New York Daily News.

Citizenship is currently a requirement for voters throughout New York State, but this legislation, “Voting By Non-Citizen Residents,” would change that, allowing immigrants who are “lawfully present in the United States” and have lived in the city for longer than six months to vote.

“This is extremely important, because it’s based on the founding principle of this country and that was, ‘No Taxation Without Representation.’ All of the people who would be included in this and would be allowed to vote are paying taxes, they’ve contributed to society,” Councilman Daniel Dromm, a co-sponsor of the proposal, told Talking Points Memo.

A quick retort to Joe “two shotgun shell” Biden – no, it isn’t about “dignity”

From Big Government, we have these pithy words from Vice President Joe Biden:

There are a lot of tough decisions that have to be made. In some countries, that means, as we say in this country, that the elites have to pay their fair share, pay for the police in the streets and the basic services for the poor. In other places it means taking on corruption head on. In the United States, that means reforming our immigration system – 11 million undocumented men, women and children being able to come out of the shadows and be full participants in American life. Granting them the dignity — my father would say, “It’s all about dignity’ – granting them the dignity and respect that they deserve. Without doing that, it’s hard to make the case in my view to 600 million people in the hemisphere that we genuinely respect you all, but we do not show respect for 11 million people – people here in America who hail from the very countries we talk about… I don’t know how that’s done.

No, it is not about “dignity”!  As the second highest elected official in the land, first most,  it should be about honoring your oath concerning the Constitution and its values – one of which is The Rule of Law that sets us all Equal Before The Law.  Which means that everyone in this land, the United States, needs to respect it, apply it, and live it.  That has been one of our hallmarks as a country.  Without it, we are just a throwback to the pre-Founding Fatherss times of Elite Rule (Monarchy, Royalty, Strong Man, or Mobs) to which Progressives wish to return us.

Ever since Grokster Steve put up his post on SB11 whizzing through the NH Senate and the House Committee, there as been a lot of buzzing going on, and while it seems innocuous on the surface, there are a lot of deep down problems with this bill where the mischievous can go evil.  One of THE experts (if not THE expert) on the Sustainable Communities Initiative being pushed by the Federal Government’s HUD (i.e., Federalizing local zoning ordinances) is Ken Eyring – here are his thoughts on this bill:

RED ALERT! SB 11 which passed the Senate, may affect YOUR WATER RIGHTS and will be voted on tomorrow in the full House.

BACKGROUND

In 2011 then Governor Lynch created the NH Water Sustainability Commission (WSC) by Executive Order. This UNELECTED group works alongside the Regional Planners, another UNELECTED GROUP, on the premise that water is a ‘limited resource’ in NH. We wrote about it in 2012. Note the use of the word ‘global’ which is a code word for control of all resources.

We all know that NH is a water-rich state and there is no water “crisis”. In fact, many of us are still cleaning up after 4 or 5 years of damages to our property due to too much water. Some NH counties were even declared a disaster area for those years.

Among the WSC’s recommendations and goals is to “enable legislation for regional cooperation”. Indeed one of the NH Association of Regional Planning Commission’s 2012-2013 Annual Legislative Action Priorities was:  #12 – “Promote stormwater management efforts including public education and stormwater utility enabling legislation.” (As amended at the July 19, 2012 NHARPC Meeting) You can now see how RI residents were able to be subject to a tax levied on any water that runs off their driveways and rooftops!

Rand Paul points out the problem. Solution is Legislative Accountability with “Degree of Fecklessness” on vote scoring

“The Secretary shall” do this and “The Secretary shall” do that…a recipe to irrelevancy for our Legislators in the US Congress and Senate.  Senator Rand Paul gets it right (emphasis mine):

I, for one, am for immigration reform. … That being said, I’m worried that the bill before us won’t pass. May pass the Senate, may not pass the House. I want to be constructive in making the bill strong enough that conservatives, myself included, conservative Republicans in the House, will vote for this because I think immigration reform is something we should do. In this bill, I’m worried though… it says, well, you have to have a plan to build a fence, but you don’t have to build a fence. And if you don’t have a plan to build a fence, then you get a commission. I don’t know what happens if the commission doesn’t do anything. That’s the story of Washington around here. To me, it’s a little bit like Obamacare, and I hate to bring that up, but 1800 references to the “secretary shall at a later date” decide things. We don’t write bills around here. We should write the bill, we should write the plan, we should do these things to secure the border, whether it be fence, entry-exit, we should write it, not delegate it, because, what’s going to happen in five years, if they don’t do their job — it may not even be them, it may be somebody else who doesn’t do their job in five years — and the border’s not secure, we will be blamed for the next ten million people who come here illegally.

TreeHugger has decided to ban me – I guess I ask embarrasing questions

Good thing I have the ‘Grok’ to report on – I’d feel so bad over being banned.  Or, at least I think I’ve been banned – dunno why as I never use four letter words or sexual innuendos when leaving comments there (see, I’m consistent: I follow Rule#1 there just like I enforce it here).  Such a down morning when I went to leave what I thought was a rather innocuous comment on Lloyd Alter’s post named “Just what we needed Dept: The 3D printed gun” and immediately got an alert that my comment would be moderated.  I then left a reply to someone else’s comment and that got moderated.  That was early this morning before work – and neither has appeared.  Now Lloyd actually works there full time (Managing Editor is his full title), so it seems.  It also seems that his post’s title sends the message that, unlike Grokster Tim (here and most of us Groksters would agree it is “wicked pissah good”), he is not all that enamoured with the idea that making the printing of a gun possible is a goodness in democratizing the value of self-defense.

Sigh, my little feelings got hurt (ok, perhaps just “lightly bumped” like a couple of the NASCAR cars yesterday). Hey wait a dang minute, isn’t it part of the the Liberal mantra, their Political Correctness way of life, that someone’s feelings are never to be hurt or even scratched?  I guess I just don’t count; I suppose that the TreeHugger tolerance for conservatives takes on a different slant than for other Progressively blessed identity groups. Remember, Progressivism means you never have to say you’re Consistent. Anyways, back to the post:

Compared to many 3D printed objects, this thing is pretty crude. There is also a reason guns are made out of metal and not ABS plastic; It isn’t very safe, and eventually exploded, although not in Wilson’s hands. But hey, freedom is more important than safety; according to Forbes,

Carol Shea-Porter: too bright to be that stupid to get it wrong on background checks; so what is it?

WMUROn WMUR Channel 9’s Closeup this morning, Congressman Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH CD-1) decided that she was going to talk about gun control  at gun shows and certainly made it clear that NO background checks happen at gun shows.  Well, she may not be the brightest bulb in the lot, but she’s not the dimmest (damning with faint praise: that would go to Congressman Hank “Guam might tip over” Johnson before CSP could rise to take the prize), but one of these is true:

  • Maybe I HAVE judged her brightness wrongly?
  • Perhaps she is subject to that line “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt”
  • She is lying (employing the Saul Alinsky principle that “In the beginning the organizer’s first job is to create the issues or problems”?)

So, what is wrong?  And where is she lying?

On This Week with George Stephanopolous, the round table turned to gun control and politics.  Mary Matilan, a long term Republican political operative and strategists, said that she had just done something because of how the Progressives have poisoned the debate on guns.  While she is explaining, listen for the word “Good!”.  Yeah, listen to the nervous laughter over the attempt to cover up this “national TV gaffe”.

This is not to excuse some of the national types. They story was there in the audience. Ayotte’s team was able to pack the audience the same way gun control groups artificially packed the audience. But Team Ayotte wasn’t doing any effective blocking and tackling either. Just one example: with all the Republican sheriffs who backed Ayotte in 2010, no one was put out there to defend Ayotte?

Well, for starters, James Pindell, there was at least one “Republican” Sheriff at one of Kelly’s town halls: Craig Wiggin of Belknap County at the Tilton event. Two friends of mine was there and relayed these takes on how “supportive” the Sheriff was:

We were told at the door by a police officer that no signs were allowed in the auditorium. We complied and played by the rules. However, the left wing radicals were allowed to display two signs while in the auditorium, one disparaging Ayotte and the other a pro-gun control slogan and nothing was done about it. These signs were not far from Ayotte where the media could film and exploit them for their usual purposes. Jeb Bradley who moderated this said nothing while the media cameras kept rolling.

So, who actually made a stink about following the rules and trying to knock this down for Kelly?  Well, the other friend made it clear that it was neither Jeb Bradley or Sheriff Wiggin:
