Tyranny – Some might say it is already here, Mr. President

Tyranny:  Cruel and oppressive government or rule.

RealClearPolitics – PRESIDENT OBAMA:

Unfortunately, you’ve grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that’s at the root of all our problems. Some of these same voices also do their best to gum up the works. They’ll warn that tyranny always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices. Because what they suggest is that our brave, and creative, and unique experiment in self-rule is somehow just a sham with which we can’t be trusted.

Mr. President, but what of these revelations from the last few days?

  •  Our government lied to us concerning the deaths of 4 Americans
  • The most feared department in the Government, the IRS has been used to actively target political enemies

Should we, really, reject these voices?

Are these not acts of Tyranny? In the first, we see those that we trusted  and elected to lead, and those appointed by them, preferring  to provide  political protection coverage over themselves instead of marshalling life saving protections that should have been extended to Benghazi.  In the second, we see career bureaucrats who have almost unlimited financial capabilities targeting those in the TEA Party / 9-12ers / conservative groups – simply because of their political beliefs – suppressing their voices because they run counter to that of the present Administration and the Poltical Class?

Is this the Government we should have – or the Government that has we deserve?  Or is this the type of Government that must be fought?

…some separate, sinister entity that’s at the root of all our problems.” No Mr. President – there is no single, sinister entity – just people.  As the Founders knew, human nature needs to be restrained, else it can enslave others – and thus their attempt to limit government and how people could manipulate it for their own benefit.  No, not always for financial coin, but for the political coin – that of power over others.

…our brave, and creative, and unique experiment in self-rule is somehow just a sham…”  And with these words, we must redouble our efforts to be “ever vigilant”.  We see the mixing of the truth with a straw man argument – the American Experiment (to which he has already dismissed the idea of American Exceptionalism) is unique, creative – and radical.  That we would could rule ourselves – no, not a sham, Mr. President.

“…with which we can’t be trusted.” The Lie by Those In Charge, is nothing more than another manifestation of Tyranny.  No, Mr. President, it is not the case that our Founders didn’t trust us, the Citizens and Civil Society.  They did not, nor should we, blindly give our trust to Government – even to those we elect to govern.  The lie is in your use of the word WE – as you try to “move forward” that lie that would have us believe “We are the Government – and the Government is Us”.  That single line totally rejects the notion of the Founders vision – that here should be a definitive demarcation between Government and Society.  That there is no difference, no dividing line between us and the forces of Government – the Borg-ization.

The effort to deny the importance of and expression of religion is proceeding at an ever increasing speed.  We see the tremendous effort in breaking up the nuclear family with increasing welfare ‘benefits” that makes active husbands and fathers irrelevant.  We see Government mandates, more and more, forcing private companies into being mere arms of the Government with mandate after mandate – for if formerly voluntary “benefits” are now mandatory, can we really call them benefits any more?  And what used to be called Charities and Mutual Aid society are really so dependent upon tax monies that they have lost their way?

No, Mr. President, we cannot “reject these voices” – for they properly recall History when such governments did descend into Tyranny.  If a Government has placed itself into every nook and cranny, into every decision that a Citizen can make, is that really the hallmark of a Free and Liberated people?  Is your view of Government, that says one thing yets acts contrary to those proclamations in a way that we have never seen in our history, one that allow for choice, for Freedom, and for Liberty?

Or is your Progressive vision of this American Experiment has deemed it so truly evil that you proudly proclaimed “we are five days from fundamentally transforming the United States”?  That you feel that it is up to you to change our complete system on your say so – is that not Tyranny as well?

Honor Your Oath, Mr. President.
