A quick retort to Joe “two shotgun shell” Biden – no, it isn’t about “dignity”

From Big Government, we have these pithy words from Vice President Joe Biden:

There are a lot of tough decisions that have to be made. In some countries, that means, as we say in this country, that the elites have to pay their fair share, pay for the police in the streets and the basic services for the poor. In other places it means taking on corruption head on. In the United States, that means reforming our immigration system – 11 million undocumented men, women and children being able to come out of the shadows and be full participants in American life. Granting them the dignity — my father would say, “It’s all about dignity’ – granting them the dignity and respect that they deserve. Without doing that, it’s hard to make the case in my view to 600 million people in the hemisphere that we genuinely respect you all, but we do not show respect for 11 million people – people here in America who hail from the very countries we talk about… I don’t know how that’s done.

No, it is not about “dignity”!  As the second highest elected official in the land, first most,  it should be about honoring your oath concerning the Constitution and its values – one of which is The Rule of Law that sets us all Equal Before The Law.  Which means that everyone in this land, the United States, needs to respect it, apply it, and live it.  That has been one of our hallmarks as a country.  Without it, we are just a throwback to the pre-Founding Fatherss times of Elite Rule (Monarchy, Royalty, Strong Man, or Mobs) to which Progressives wish to return us.

Maybe I’m a hardcase here – but if you broke our law to be here, regardless of the reason why you came, how does that mean we “owe” you a dollop of dignity?  How can Joe say they “deserve” respect, for demanding something that they otherwise should not have? How can I legitimately “give” any illegal alien, much less 11 million illegal aliens, any honor or any dignity when I look Grokster Mike’s eyes who came here the legal way, got his green card the legal way, and is in the process (lengthy, expensive) of becoming a naturalized Citizen?

Once again, I reject the nonsensical notion that *I* (or any other law abiding citizen) has put any of these illegal aliens “into the shadows”; they did it to themselves and they know what they have done.  “But Skip, the kids!  What about the innocent kids!”?  Not my fault either – so why should I be responsible?

Oh yeah, that hyper-sense of Progressivistic clamor of Community – you’re part of OUR Community whether you like it or not, want to or not, thus you ARE responsible for their status and their feelings.  Self-responsibility (or in the case of their parents, no consequence for bringing them here illegally and in the process, gaming our system) plays no role in our Brave New World (unless and of course, you dissent – and then you are a fringe).

And Joe? “Without doing that, it’s hard to make the case in my view to 600 million people in the hemisphere that we genuinely respect you all, but we do not show respect for 11 million people – people here in America who hail from the very countries we talk about” – horrible logic from supposedly one of our Elites that Progressivism promises will expertly and non-partisanly guide us, lead us – and rule us.

So, hyper-partisan back room hackism is in our future if we ever lose our Founders Vision?
