A judge in Texas ruled Obamacare unconstitutional in light of Congress passing a budget that excised the mandate from the original legislation. U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor in Fort Worth said that the Affordable Care Act passed under the aegis of former President Barack Obama became unconstitutional after the budget passed by Republicans that cut out the tax penalty for not purchasing insurance….Texas and nineteen other states argued that the U.S. Supreme Court had found the healthcare legislation constitutional on the basis of the existence of the mandate. Once the mandate was eradicated by Congress, they claimed, that completely undermined the constitutionality of the bill.

Judge O’Connor agreed with that reasoning Friday.

Democrat US Rep Ted Lieu: Govt should be able to regulate your speech

I have a post in my head about the larger Constitutional topic but once again, we see that Constitution is a GREAT constrictor of nascent totalitarians like US Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif).

California Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) blatantly confessed on CNN that he “would love to be able to regulate the content of speech” but that he’s stopped by that pesky First Amendment, which keeps his powers in check.

Appearing on CNN with host Brianna Keilar, Lieu was asked to discuss the congressional hearing with Google CEO Sundar Pichai about political bias within the company and how it might affect the country. Keilar at one point questioned Lieu about what politicians can do to put a stop to online trolling and conspiracy theories. Lieu confessed that he would love to regulate speech but that the First Amendment prevents him from doing so. To his credit, he does add that it’s better that the government not regulate free speech.

The panel investigating the Florida high school massacre recommended Wednesday that teachers who volunteer and undergo extensive background checks and training be allowed to carry concealed guns on campus to stop future shootings. The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission voted 13-1 to recommend the Legislature allow the arming of teachers, saying it’s not enough to have one or two police officers or armed guards on campus. Florida law adopted after the Feb. 14 shooting that left 17 dead allows districts to arm non-teaching staff members such as principals, librarians and custodians — and 13 of the 67 districts do, mostly in rural parts of the state.

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, the commission’s chairman, pushed the measure at the Tallahassee meeting. He said most deaths in school shootings happen within the first few minutes, before officers on and off campus can respond. He said suspect Nikolas Cruz stopped to reload his AR-15 semi-automatic rifle five times, all of which would have been opportunities for an armed teacher to shoot him.

Yeah, if I saw a job candidate coming into my firm and I saw that tattoo, s/he would be quickly shown the door. Anyone thinking that they should allow such nonsense (given that the DSA has already said that there should never be a profit (er, without it, who would be able to hire ANYONE?) and that private companies should be taken over by “the workers” (yes, I’m on their email list so I see this anti-American crappola all the time)) deserve what they get – which if they really take power would be destitution and a free stay at the “Re-Education Seaside Resort”. That is, if they weren’t subjected to the communist holocaust  alluded to in the title of this post.

So, the San Francisco “steering committee” of the Democrat Socialists of America decided to set themselves apart from everyone with this cute design.  No, not as flamboyant as the typical MS-13 gangsters we’ve been seeing in the news that ordinarily would have jobs in a traveling circus as the Tattoo’d Man decades ago – but just as dangerous.  Yes, as dangerous.  Not physically, at least not at first, but certainly their root ideas are and we only have to see the carnage that “government directed life” wreaks upon a country (g.e., “She who forgets history ends up with Venezuela“).

My, don’t they feel….entitled? Illegal immigrant caravan “migrants” demand money to go away.

Last time I knew, that was call “extortion” (“nice country you have there, shame if we were to enter it”). Yup, that’s what they’re doing – people that shouldn’t be here, didn’t bother to follow our laws, making demands on no basis at all.  How about another choice: go home?  Oh, and note how they’ve learned the lingo from the American Left who holds that America is horrible (reformatted, emphasis mine):

“It may seem like a lot of money to you,” Ulloa told the paper. “But it is a small sum compared to everything the United States has stolen from Honduras.”

Right. Let’s see, 10,000 illegals X $50,000 works out to be $500 million – that’s not just “walking around” (pun intended) money.  Yet, they feel entitled for that
