We learned that it took us a full day from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm to get through 33 House bills. All were recommended by their committee as Ought To Pass (OTP) by their respective committees, except for the last 3 bills that were recommended as Inexpedient To Legislate (ITL) by their respective committees.

So Kids… What Did We Learn From Wednesday’s House Session (4/7/21)?
We learned that Wednesday was House Budget Day. The NH House spent the better part of Wednesday passing a budget that kept Republican campaign promises. We passed HB1 and HB2, the budget bill and trailer bill, which effectively utilized tax dollars, and cut back government spending while cutting taxes.
So Kids, What Did We Learn From The NH House Session (02/25/21)?
We learned that sometimes it is wise to start out the day with a fresh start and a clearing of the air. That is what Speaker Packard did with a short and heartfelt “personal privilege” speech beginning Day 2 at the Bedford Sportsplex. He spoke about the unfortunate events which happened at the end of yesterday’s session when frustration, anger, and fatigue hit the chamber.
So Kids, What Did We Learn From The NH House Session (02/24/21)?
We learned that the 50,000 sq ft. Sportsplex in Bedford, with its climate control and astroturf, is a great place to stretch out comfortably and safely accommodates 400 State Reps, much to the dismay of the Democrat Caucus.
So Kids, What Did We Learn From Convening Day In The NH House (01/06/21)?
We learned that Republican leadership can make lemonade out of lemons. After being denied use of indoor facilities at UNH because of COVID concerns and some bogus notion that members of the House booze it up during House session, they were creative in putting together a “drive-in” parking lot session. Even though we started 1 … Read more
A Response to Rep. Lucy McVitty Weber’s Partisan Attack
After reading Rep. Lucy McVitty Weber’s op-ed (see below) which was unsurprisingly a partisan attack piece, I’d like to set the record straight. She is accurate in saying that legislating in these times has been challenging. The challenge has mostly been how to deal with people who balk at the NH House doing anything other than meeting remotely.
So Kids, What Did We Learn From Organization Day at the NH House (12/02/20)?
We learned that having Organization Day for the NH Legislature is non-negotiable. Holding Organization Day is required by our NH State Constitution. The General Court meets to organize itself on the first Wednesday of December in each even numbered year. On Organization Day all members present are sworn in by the Governor, in the presence … Read more

So kids, what did we learn from Tuesday’s House Session (06/30/20)?
We learned that procedures on how the House and Senate process NH legislation can change radically and magically when a pandemic is in play. All Constitutional, House and Senate rules were tossed aside by the Democrat Majority in their rush to process all bills. The House and Senate Democrat Majority Leadership blamed that on the … Read more
So kids, what did we learn from Thursday’s House Session (06/11/20)?
We learned that $200,000+ in COVID/CARES funding can easily be spent on moving the NH House to the UNH Whittemore Arena for a day. The space was donated by UNH for this historic event, as the NH House has not met outside of traditional House Chambers since the Civil War. House Reps were treated to … Read more
So kids, what did we learn from Thursday’s House Session (03/12/20-03/13/20)?
We learned that House Minority Republicans have stamina and wisdom. They made certain that the work of the NH House got done for the people of NH and for the constituents that they serve. They corrected the course of mismanagement of time and workload that was dealt to us by the House Majority Democrats who … Read more
So kids, what did we learn from Wednesday’s House Session (03/11/20)?
We learned that after the 9am-6pm day we had today, that we still have 151 House bills to vote on tomorrow (Thursday). According to House Rule 65, March 12th is the last day that we can act on House Bills. It is pretty clear that we will not meet that deadline. It is unclear what … Read more
So kids, what did we learn from Thursday’s House Session (03/05/20)?
We learned that the 37 bills that we spent time voting on today would have been all done on Feb 20th if we didn’t waste 4 hours on that day, at the Speaker’s discretion, reprimanding 8 legislators for not attending Sexual Harassment Training. Now we are behind in our schedule and we will have 350, … Read more

We learned that in the morning some very good things took place. So I will start with that. The Merrimack Delegation stood together to honor the late Hon. Pete Batula. He was a good man. May his memory be a blessing always. The House made note to honor Black History Month, with members of the … Read more
So kids, what did we learn from Wednesday’s House Session (02/19/20)?
We learned that the Majority Party Democrats haven’t learned anything from last year’s session with regard to vetoed bills because some of them were back today with different bill numbers and nearly identical language. The result was passage in the NH House of these bills, but we all know that if they survive the NH … Read more
So kids, what did we learn from Thursday’s House Session (02/13/20)?
We learned that the Legislature can come together to honor our fallen heroes. The New Hampshire House unanimously voted … Read more
