Do Good Dems Have to Pass a Color Litmus Test?

What happened to the executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC)? Well, it is now more appropriate to say former DCCC executive director. Allison Jaslow was forced to resign from her position Monday, because she’s white.

Who is Allison Jaslow?

Jaslow is an Iraq War veteran. She attended an all staff meeting on Monday to make it official. Two Hispanic lawmakers, Reps. Vicente Gonzalez and Filemon Vela demanded she step down. They made the demand Sunday. The reason, Jaslow had not done enough to “diversify” DCCC leadership.

The action

The Hispanic lawmakers want people of color in important positions. Jaslow and her deputies are white. That’s a problem for Gonzalez and Vela according to Politico. https://www.politico.com/amp/story/2019/07/29/top-dccc-staffer-out-amid-diversity-uproar-1439525

Sure it is internal political party politics. But it is the internal party politics that drives campaigns. It defines administrations. It is an indicator of future direction.

Conclusion:

So, was the party lead by racists before the coup? Or, was the coup orchestrated by racists? Didn’t that King fella say something about… “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” If you are going to talk the talk; you have to walk the walk.
