Yes, he’s back from his leave. And he’s taking a rip against “misinformation”, fear, and feelings.
Right. He wants to be the Grand Arbiter of what is “responsible digital citizenship” yet he’s all in on Coerced Speech when it comes to enforcing that the rest of us must allow our speech to be coerced when it comes to transgender “preferred pronouns”. Ditto mandating Staff lie (by omission and commission) to Parents about the transgender status of their child while in school.
So when I read his missive about the Tik-Tok “threat to schools that roiled the nation a couple of days ago, there was a part that caught my eye (bolded below):

Subject: Gilford School District updateDecember 17, 2021
Dear Gilford and Gilmanton communities:
I sent a message yesterday informing the school community about a social media post threatening schools that had been determined to not be credible. The message on social media and the letter I sent caused quite a stir and created an emotional response in some individuals.
Early this morning I became aware of another social media post from a neighboring superintendent. This post specifically used the initials GHS and GMS. Four other schools were identified using school initials. I immediately started working with the Gilford Police Department and our school Principals to make certain we would be safe in our schools today. Again we do not believe these are credible threats.
I appreciate the vigilance and the support from students, staff, parents, community members and the Gilford Police. My concern is social media and the misinformation that is spread across the various platforms. This misinformation is harmful and can cause people to experience unnecessary fear. Parents were put into the challenging position of deciding what was best for their child based on limited information. Unfortunately our attendance in the schools today is a reflection of this challenging position parents were presented with. We had over 200 students at GHS, over 90 students at GMS and over 90 students at GES that are absent today.
My hope is that we can work together to reinforce the value of responsible digital citizenship. Responsible digital citizenship is an important component of making our school communities feel safe. Please continue to talk with your children about their social media presence.
I would like to take a moment to thank the Gilford Police, the Sheriff’s Department, and the State Police that were present today. The police walked our halls, patrolled the parking lots and our community.
Lastly, thank you to the teachers, support staff and administrators that continue to show up and do the important work of teaching and learning in the Gilford schools.
The Gilford School District truly values and relies upon your partnership.
Respectfully,
Kirk Beitler
Superintendent of Schools
“Feel safe”? Why would Society place such a high priority on “feeling safe”? Once again, LIFE ISN’T SAFE. You can try to mitigate risks but you can never erase risk. But in context, we’re back to the Liberal “feelz” – that feelings trump everything else including reality. Whether or not you ARE safe has no logical connection in FEELING safe. The new SJW Principle of Safetyism (eliminate ALL RISK and delude yourself even if you can’t) demands no risk at any time for anyone. Emotions (and emoting) is what is important – not reasoning and not calculating risks.
But that’s the least problem this has.
Like I said, Capt Kirk (after the Star Trek one: has a big ego like James T but not the brains) is back and has decided that he has the Power in telling the rest of us what is “responsible” and what is “misinformation“. Sorry, he doesn’t get to tell anyone what is responsible and what isn’t. But given that one of the Liberal Word of the Day / Month / Year is “misinformation”, we now know which side of the political aisle his imaginary throne is placed. You may not agree with what is said, you may believe it to be wrong, but you don’t get to silence it. Which was my takeaway from that.
Misinformation: it’s just another proxy for “You’re not allowed to say that”. There’s no sense of Free Speech with this one (go figure) in which even a lie is Protected Speech (like or not). I’m quite sure that if he’s told of this post, he’d classify this as “misinformation” as well. But then, again, he either has no conceptual framework for the First Amendment – or hates it. Else why has he defended “preferred pronouns” so much as well?
I also had to chuckle at “to reinforce the value of responsible digital citizenship“. As opposed to “IRL citizenship”? But what is his “to reinforce” bit really mean? Given his use of misinformation similar to others on the Left that also have a hint of coercion and retaliation if people continue to say things that the Elites despise. So the operative question here is “Whatcha gonna do about it” because from my point of view, there’s not much he can (unless he wants to get hit with another lawsuit like
Certainly a similar outlook towards parents as he took a shot against Parents with “Parents were put into the challenging position of deciding what was best for their child“. Sorry, that’s not an if / or situation. It’s not a asynchronous timeline that is in force NOW but not LATER or BEFORE, either. Parents are ALWAYS deciding what is best for their child – they aren’t “put into” any such state of being. It is a continuous state of being regardless of what is going on around them and their children – not just school events.
Beitler made Parents into victims by those “Irresponsible social media” causing unnecessary fear. Hey, keeping them home eliminated that fear. Whether or not that affects your overall school population is irrelevant.
Grokster Ian in his post earlier today had this:
The first thing to note is that protecting people’s rights is very different from protecting people. In most cases, protecting people requires taking away their rights.
The principal purpose of Government is to protect our Liberties – our Rights. Secondarily, our physical beings (e.g., in case of war declared upon us).
So which is it, with regard to fear, misinformation, and speech you don’t like, Superintendent Kirk – Protecting ALL Rights or taking away our Free Speech to protect people?
