50 Year-Old Science Forgotten to Peddle Global Warming

NewScientist, which I take to mean they peddle the new scientism, got some help from Google the other day. They have an article about the Jetstream that was pushed to the top of the news feed. It posits the notion that your emissions broke it. The problem with the new science is that the old science says it is a natural side-effect of variability in solar radiation intensity.

This is not new ground for them or us. Last November and December, we shared scientific artifacts documenting the phenomenon that today is being blamed on your increasingly less comfortable declining Western lifestyle. But back then, it was responsible for cooling.

I suspect it is both, and neither has anything to do with you unless you happen to be the Sun.

The cause of this increased variability can best be seen by examining upper atmosphere wind patterns that accompany cooler climate. During warm periods a “zonal circulation” predominates in which the prevailing westerly winds of the temperate zones are swept over long distances by a few powerful high and low pressure centers. The result is a more evenly distributed pattern of weather, varying relatively little from month to month or season to season.

During cooler climatic periods, however, the high-altitude winds are broken up into irregular cells by weaker and more plentiful pressure centers, causing formation of a “meridional circulation” pattern. These small, weak cells may stagnate over vast areas for many months, bringing unseasonably cold weather on one side and unseasonably warm weather on the other. Droughts and floods become more frequent and may alternate season to season, as they did last year in India. Thus, while the hemisphere as a whole is cooler, individual areas may alternately break temperature and precipitation records at both extremes.

Aurora-caused solar activity aside, the Sun has been in a quiet phase for a number of years, but if you ask New Scientist (what little of it I can read before it gets paywalled), global warming is likely the cause. At least, that is how they lead it.

Sections of the planet’s jet streams have begun shifting towards the poles over the past several decades. It is most likely that this is a response to global warming due to our greenhouse gas emissions, and could exacerbate heat and drought in regions that depend on the high-altitude winds to steer storms their way.

The NewScience (fraud) is a timely addition to the latest narrative, alongside the unexpected cold spot in the otherwise boiling Atlantic and why Hurricane Season isn’t (yet) doing what they expected. There has been an uptick in activity in recent days, which is normal, but should that fail to produce the more frequent stronger storms they need, like the Jetstream, it’ll still be your fault.

And they say the Medieval Catholic Church was hardcore.
