In the 2008 campaign, Carol Shea Porter repeatedly blasted Jeb Bradley on all sorts of odd issues. Just in from the Guinta campaign:

STRONG FUNDRAISING AND TEAM BUILDING SHOWS MOMENTUM FOR GUINTA!

399 Third Quarter Donors and 100 County Captains

Manchester, NH – The energy and excitement around Frank Guinta’s 1st District bid for Congress has exploded in the past several weeks, with 399 donors, a strong fundraising report, and 100 County Captains.

“I am thrilled and humbled by the outpouring of support our campaign has received,” Guinta said. “The energy and excitement for this campaign and the 2010 elections can be felt in every corner of our district and from people of virtually every walk of life. People are frustrated with what is going on in Washington and are ready for new leadership.  I’m going to work hard to make that happen and with their continued help, I can.”

Frank Guinta’s 3rd quarter fundraising report will show the following:

Amount Raised in 3rd Quarter:  $125,755.00
Total number of donors: 399 (346 New Donors)
NH Donors: 364
Cash on Hand: $180,121.00

“You don’t have to look any further than the unemployment numbers released this week to know that times are tight for families in New Hampshire and everywhere. Yet, 373 people reached into their pockets, some with as little as $10.00, to demonstrate their support.  With that kind of dedication we can continue to grow our team and succeed next November,” Guinta said.

In addition to the significant amount of recent donors, Frank also earned the support of 100 County Captains for Guinta for Congress.  The individuals on board come from every county and region of the first district and include many new comers to the political scene.

Complete list of new team members after the jump.

“In New Hampshire, grassroots support is still the most significant part of any campaign effort.  I am proud to live in a state with so many active citizens who want to be a hands-on part of the process.  I look forward to the advice, support and guidance from all of these individuals,” Guinta noted.

Horn Announces Bid For GOP Nomination in NH’s 2nd Congressional District

Jennifer Horn

Horn speaks to gathered crowd at April 15th TeaParty in Manchester

Here are the remarks as prepared and delivered by Jennifer Horn as she announced her intention today to seek another go at the GOP nomination for NH’s 2nd Congressional District:

Good morning. Thank you all so much for being here this morning – it is great to see every one of you!

Ever since Charlie Bass announced his exploratory cmte last week I have been getting a lot questions about what I am going to do – will I run? Will I be squeezed out? Well, I am here to tell you – I am running for US Congress in the 2nd district and in November 2010 I will win back this seat for the people of New Hampshire.

As many of you know, I am the mom to five children. I feel so blessed to be able to raise those children in a nation of freedom and opportunity. I am raising my children to understand that they can achieve absolutely anything they set their minds to as long as they are willing to work hard and sacrifice for their dreams. That is what unlimited opportunity is all about. And unlimited opportunity is what the American dream is all about.

But as I watch this Congress spend with reckless abandon, and as I watch our government grow ever more bloated, and I as see our freedoms being slowly chipped away, I see that unlimited opportunity slipping away as well.

787B stimulus package. Billion dollar bailouts for banks, and auto companies. Trillion dollar budgets. 1.5 T health insurance reform bills. A cap and trade bill that will cost every family in NH 1700/year. 9.8 percent unemployment and foreclosure rates that continue to rise.

These are not numbers that encourage the American Dream, they are numbers that crush the American Dream.

I know that these numbers can feel overwhelming, to the point that they become very impersonal. But they are personal. They are very personal to those families that have lost their homes. It’s personal to the mom who can’t afford to fill the pantry. It’s personal to the small business owners across America who have been forced to lay off employees or shut down altogether.

The greatest challenge of all, however, is a Congress that has become so arrogant and so disconnected from the people that they no longer believe they have to answer to their own constituents. We saw it right here in NH this summer when our own Rep refused to hold a single open public town hall. Since the day he won the election, Paul Hodes has been running for his next seat and the people of the 2nd district have suffered as a result.

You’d think a public servant would be more inclined to “hear” from the people. Not Carol Shea Porter

Yesterday I attended the so called "town hall meeting" with our Congresswoman, Carol Shea Porter in Manchester.  Let me first start off by saying, the venue she chose could only hold 100 people.  While there were two scheduled "town hall meetings" Saturday, both had a limited capacity.

Knowing that town hall meetings have been packed across this country over this issue, it was disappointing that she chose a venue that held such a small amount of her constituents.  It left many wondering if she simply wanted to make the argument that she had a town hall without really giving her constituents the opportunity to voice their questions/concerns.

This was proven again once the town hall meeting began.  Ms. Shea Porter began by asking two individuals to tell their personal stories of how they felt disenfranchised by the health care or insurance industry.  This took a valuable 20 minutes in a ONE hour town hall meeting.

We were given tickets and those who were able to ask a question did so if they were chosen in a lottery type of system.  I felt this was a fair way to draw questions.  Each person was given 2 minutes to ask their question and/or voice their concerns.  Again, I felt that was a fair amount of time.

About 20 minutes after the meeting began and after listening to her chosen speakers, people were allowed to ask their questions if their number was drawn.  One thing I observed throughout this meeting was, how much Carol Shea Porter loves to hear herself speak.  With a limited amount of time, I would have thought a public servant would be more inclined to "HEAR" from the people, rather than sell us this legislation.  That was not the case.  It was her opportunity to sell this legislation to the people rather than hear from her constituents.

AS the questions FINALLY began, I noticed people had 2 minutes to ask the question, but Carol Shea Porter took several minutes to answer them.   Because she rambled on with each answer, only a precious few questions were asked.  Some of the people attending were clearly getting irritated by her long-winded answers, knowing they had little chance of speaking .

While a few of those chosen to speak seemed to favor a govt. run option, the majority appeared to be in opposition. At one point, the lady sitting next to me, having worked in the health care industry asked what was being done to bring down costs, for instance, by addressing things like Tort Reform.

Ms. Shea Porter’s answer seemed to imply that while Tort Reform is not included in the bill, it wasn’t that important, either.  She referred to Texas and quoted stats that made it "APPEAR" as if Tort Reform wasn’t working in Texas.

AS I sat there with my information in hand on how Tort Reform WAS working in Texas, I could clearly see she was not giving people all of the facts.  A few minutes later, I was one of the rare few to be called upon.

Standing up and referring to her misleading statements on Texas Tort Reform, I read from the post I wrote last week here on GraniteGrok, Hey Carol, DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS and quoted the excellent op-ed from the San Francisco Examiner:

Carol Shea Porter: “Not going back and forth on the Constitution”

Summer Reading Assignment

Hodes Shea Porter

Pulp?

From the NRCC

Washington- With two weeks left in the summer recess and one step closer to the possibility of a government- run healthcare system, has Carol Shea-Porter read the monstrosity that is the Democrats 1,018- page healthcare bill? Has she read about the job-killing, tax-hiking, and government-run mess that is HR 3200? Well, for New Hampshire residents’ sake, they better hope so.

HR 3200: printed BOTH sides

“If Democrats like Carol Shea-Porter have yet to read the writing on the wall that Americans are opposed to government-run healthcare, the least they can do is promise to read their party’s unpopular bill,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Given the Democrats’ track record, a bill that large could have anything in it. Shea-Porter has a responsibility to hold her party bosses accountable for the content.  After blindly supporting a wasteful $1 trillion stimulus package, Shea-Porter owes it to her constituents to demand that Nancy Pelosi doesn’t strong-arm a massive healthcare takeover through Congress without giving lawmakers the chance to read it in its entirety.”

In one the worst recessions in history, the Democrats’ healthcare takeover could lead to even higher unemployment rates:
