The Democrat mantra is, hey, let’s force you to behave the way we demand and then claim it will make the world better. What if it actually made things worse? What if the regulatory demands they want for plastics actually exacerbate the problem they claim they will fix?
Straws
Blogline of the Day – Straws, straws; the Democrats need straws!
Note: there may be several of these today so don’t be surprised if this gets updated with more. Democrats Grasping At Straws To Impeach Trump Now Regret Banning Straws. “We started grasping for straws but suddenly realized we had banned them a while back,” a downcast Nancy Pelosi told reporters. “We really should have seen … Read more
Proposed Plastic Bans – When the ‘Solution’ is Worse Than the “Problem”
Democrats virtue signal about everything. And very little, if anything, they promise, does what they say. Banning plastic is a good example. The claim is that this will be better for the environment. What they don’t tell you is that the alternatives to plastic are worse.
Is There a Better Example of Socialist Hypocrisy Than Pete Buttigieg?
These: To quote from George Orwell’s Animal Farm: All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. Under the Green New Deal or any of the variations proposed by the DemocRATS running for President, we … the hoi polloi … will have to use candles for light, burn peat-moss to heat our … Read more

New Hampshire’s House Democrats passed a bill that would make it a crime to hand out a plastic straw. Policing, the new restriction had a starting cost of $93,000.00 per year.
New Hampshire Wants to Ban Bags While Oklahoma Just Banned ‘Bag Bans’
As New Hampshire’s Lefty-Majority pushes to inconvenience everyone to satisfy their environmental virtue-signaling insecurities, Oklahoma is protecting small-business and consumer choice. Gov. Kevin Stitt just signed a bill that prohibits towns from bans or fees for single-use plastics.
NH Democrats New “Illegal Drinking Straw” Hotline – Cost: $93,000.00 a Year to Start
The Democrats Single-Use Plastics ban bill I wrote about in January was too much too soon so it was retained in committee. But fear not ignorant consumers. The Democrats have backups. Including a Bill to “protect you” from the dangers of single-use plastic Drinking straws.
NH Democrats Want to Allow Towns to Ban Straws and Plastic Bags
Durham NH fearmonger Judith Spang wants the legislature to allow towns like Durham and Portsmouth to ban plastic drinking straws or bags. Any town that wants to, actually. Blogline of the Day:
If This Bill Passes, Possessing Pot in Texas Will Be Treated Less Harshly Than Distributing Straws in San Francisco. And this is what passes for public morality these days. Seriously, straws are that evil? (H/T: Instapundit)
You’d think that having a plastic straw would be as bad as having a modern sporting rifle
Liberals think the two are the same. After all, like all of us who cling to our Bibles and guns, we’re all (supposedly) saying the same thing about straws.
(for the uninitiated, the saying is Molon Labe; search for it here on the ‘Grok). And horror of horrors, there’s another way that these evil, nasty, plastic straw and “assault rifles” (as opposed to
“assault hags” who strike senior citizens simply because POLITICS) are the same:
“Spend Your Money On Feel Good Policies That Make No Real Difference”
Would it surprise you to hear that banning plastic drinking straws will accomplish nothing? How about this; that 500 million straws a day “fact” everyone is repeating came from a 9-year old kids’ school project. Or, that U.S. straws in the waste stream are a sliver of a fraction of 1% of all the plastic waste the ends up in the ocean.
The Last Straw
Sometimes you feel like a win, any win, is enough. Hey, what about banning drinking straws? They’re easy to use, convenient, people like them, but something about the environment.
Starbucks, the same company that very briefly brought us the opportunity to discuss race relations with their counter-people (pompously branded with the label barista), is leading a charge among globally known brands to end the use of plastic straws in our lifetime.
