Quick Thought: Democrat Cognitive Dissonance

I had bookmarked this a couple of days ago as it mirrors the same situation here in NH – Voter ID.  For Conservatives, this should be but a simple matter: with the current and  rampant Identity Theft epidemic, what is so wrong with making sure that the person who is asking for a ballot is … Read more

“Morally Ambiguous” – And Secularists everywhere go “Amen!”

New Boy Scout Oath

That used to be “Morally Straight” – kinda hard to be (or teach) as our society becomes more and more Secular – which is already leading to “situation ethics” or “relative morality”.  This will result in a time there will be no absolute right and wrong – so how to hold people accountable for something that is obviously wrong but they simply say “No, it’s NOT!”?

There a tight connection between Cultural Marxism (aka Political Correctness) and being Morally Ambiguous in this case.  Simple, really.  Throw out the old religious tenets, which for centuries formed our moral foundation, and replace it with what ever we (Progressives) want it to be.  After all, it’s what we do, we on the Left.  How ELSE can we redefine Government in our own image if we don’t give society a new set of values that are favorable to us?  We HAVE to pick off and subsume those institutions that promulgate those old standards.  That way, OUR Government will be the only institution left that can dictate what is right and what is wrong.

BlogAdvice of the Day: Glenn Reynolds

“Since we’ve seen that the government can take a 2.3 percent cut without anybody noticing, why not go for a 5% across-the-board cut next year?” (H/T: Instapundit) Given the rise in spending by Government since Obama took office, yes, a 5% cut probably would show up as much as this sequestration did to the ordinary … Read more

Boy Scouts of America have just sacrificed themselves on the alter of Cultural Marxism (aka P.C.)

BSA_Goad-and-CountryMorally Straight.   I don’t think that phrase has any meaning any more in a world where secular loudmouths are trumping people of faith, where the ever changing mores (swinging from what used to be Politically Correct and “good” then is now Politically Incorrect and ‘bad’ longer now – simply on some group’s say-so)  trump traditionally absolute values.

It used to, when right and wrong were absolutes but it seems nowadays everyone has their “own truth” and “what is right is what is I say it is” – some foundation for running an entire society, eh?  However, those incremental socialists from the Franklin School (progenitors of Cultural Marxism cum Political Correctness) knew, along with Gramarcie, that Americans would never accept Socialism (and then to Communism) if its backer were absolutely open and truthful about their aims, their goals, and what American would lose in the process (sounds like most Democrats nowadays, doesn’t it? ).  What was necessary was to keep nudging the culture to a tipping point that would sneak up all at once – and those that truly believed in God, traditional values, and the Constitution would, overnight, become a minority not because of the politics but because of the culture (which would then be expressed in politics).  So, like minded sojourners infiltrated the inflection point: the churches, the media, the music, the arts, governmental policies towards the traditional family; all those things that could move the culture to where secular socialism would be acceptable.  Media and newsrooms swung Left, in search of changing the world instead of reporting the news.  Music, theater, and the arts moved into the direction that the only way to succeed was to ‘push the boundaries’ – that is, going from going past cultural norms to attacking them.  Religious faith has been attacked both from within (turning from The Gospel of Individual Salvation and saving souls to some nebulous gospel of “social justice”) and without (by groups going “reverse judgementalism” to attack the pillars of faith as failing to rise to meet “current social needs of fairness, Political Correctness, and inclusion) with the attendant loss of faith in the younger generations (helped along, in no small part, by the radical Ivory Tower minions who are shielded by the tax dollars earned by those they actually attack – such work when you can get it).  The goal has been to cut the knees out of traditional American society – so as to replace it with foreign ones. And the Boy Scouts have certainly been a traditional American value for over 100 years; no longer.

So, how come this doesn’t work with Education?

“We should be working to make sure that high quality health care is provided to the uninsured to make sure the full range of health care services, including family planning services that are available to people with money are available to the poor and uninsured as well,” Nadler said. That would be Congressman Jerry Nadler … Read more

I’m not crazy…my mother had me tested.

But Representative Abrami thinks I am paranoid because I oppose SB 11; however, I may be just crazy enough to believe I own the water on my property. Sadly, it seems that the NH Department of Environmental Services says “No”.  If that doesn’t give you pause, then go to the former Governor John Lynch’s website and read the final report of the Water … Read more

IRS Scandal: TEA Party, Constitutionalists, 9/12ers, Romney donors – but they added this group to the audit list?

Over the last couple of weeks, we have seen a litany of the groups that have been targeted by the IRS simply because they are opposed to:

  • Obama’s policies and Presidency
  • a large governmental bureaucracy that continues to insert itself into more and more simply by dint of regulation (in addition to “enabling” legislation)

The entrenched bureaucracy, with a heavy list to Left / Democrat ideology, has proven Conservatives right.  They have now admitted to it, kinda non-apologized apologized for it, and now realize, with the taking of the Fifth Amendment today, with criminal intent (possibly).  But at least there was a reason – these Government workers believed that they were defending the ramparts of their castle against the barbarians that just can’t get it through their Neaderthalic heads that we all NEED Government – the more the better for all.  And make no mistake, this is a on-going, almost hot, war going between we who believe that least government is best government so as to allow for the greatest amount of personal Liberty and those that believe Government knows best for us all in how to order Society efficiently for safety and security.

They decided to “harass” those that differed from them politically – to support Obama and to support themselves.  Their version of political war (with all due respect to von Clausewitz).  But to pick on those who merely wish to adopt little babies and children; these are considered to “political battlefield combatants by Progressives?

As we get word that the IRS has harassed a number of pro-life groups, including at least one alleged demand that a pro-life group not picket Planned Parenthood, check out this statistic: In 2012, the IRS requested additional information from 90 percent of returns claiming the adoption tax credit and went on to actually audit 69 percent. More details from the Taxpayer Advocate Service:

Enabling for me but not for thee!

Senator Stiles says about SB 11 (scheduled for a vote today in the House): “Instead of drafting legislation for one/two particular towns I made it ENABLING legislation for any community that saw a need. NO mandate to do anything”.  House and Senate Dems, Progressives and RINOs dig it. Senator Bradley said in SB 102 In “…cities, … Read more

Dismantling a “positive activist government” is a bad thing?

Translation: what Katrina vanden Heuval, editor and publisher of the Far Left “The Nation” calls “a positive activist Government” I call a Progressive’s wet dream.  What she, as truly a fine example of a far Leftist, wants is a Government that is invested in every aspect of our lives and has no problem with that Government taking private property from some to give to others, believing that the Marxist ideal of “social justice” is actually written in our Constitution (a la “separation .

Who the heck am I trying to kid – these folks HATE the “negativist” (which tells government what it canNOT do, to limit government to preserve Liberty) Constitution – that scrap of paper that, according to them, should have been sent to the toilet paper factory centuries ago.  And yes, I mean that, given how a multitude of data dots are all self-connecting themselves this past week from decades of Progressivism and the Reign of Comrade Obama these last few years.  How else can you explain the verbiage from their mouths and the actions of their works?  At least vanden Heuvel is honest about it – talks AND walks the talk (easier when one is rich and “got mine” is pervasive).

From This Week with George Stephanopolous:

Ron Fournier (National Journal) – People are looking, outside of government, for their own workarounds around the Federal Government.  Millenials have a high level of civic engagement but polls show that they do not trust government.  What this means is that people like that, the next generation, are staying out of Government. That’s not a good thing.

George Will: Big Government (back at him), the best construction of the IRS, the scandal is that Big Government is impossible to monitor.  That’s the lesson of this!

Ron Fournier (National Journal) – But any government has to be trusted. These scandals are only ….

George Will: Every government has to be trusted but bigger the Government gets the bigger the distrust ought to be and will be.

Katrina vanden Heuval: But I have never understood why people that hate government go into government because we are seeing an intent to dismantle a positive activist government.  There are Millenials around this country who still see as they face  student debt and other factors, a need for a positive government that would improve the conditions of peoples’ lives.

I can tell you, Katrina!

”no controlling legal authority”

Get Out Of Jail Free CardThat was the line Al Gore used back when he was campaigning against George W Bush back in 2000 in raising money at a Buddhist temple (where the monks has a vow of poverty).   As I used to hear in Sunday school, and then say myself – an object lesson!  By that, he just didn’t see any applicable law that applied to the situation – there was nothing there to stop him.  There was no gate, if breached, that would cause a negative consequence to him.  It was as if someone gave him a “Get Out Of Jail Free” card.

And that is the lesson.  As a Conservative, I believe in the phrase “self-governance”.  A two-fer: both meant that citizens should be able to govern themselves in a limited government – there is no monarchy or unaccountable entity to which to be responsible for regulations and laws set for them to merely obey.  We, the citizens, elect our representatives in the law-making process.  It is also is complementary to another phrase: self-responsibility.  Combine them and one will have a sense of morality that says “I need to do the right thing – regardless if there is a law about this or not”.  It is internal governance – that little guy that sits on your shoulder that says “you REALLY should think about NOT doing that” when you know you are wrong before you start.  Right from wrong becomes a personal responsibility – even when no one is looking.  Especially when no one else is there.

Being the Progressive that he is, Gore took advantage of the fact there there was not an “external governor” stuck in the ground in front of him that said “no, this is not right”.  No flag, no cop, no bars, no signs – nothing.  In the Progressive mindset, it seems that they depend on externalities to govern their behavior.  Seeing nothing?  Go ahead and do it!  And he did.  And then blamed the fact that there was no law there to stop him.  Effectively, Progressives outsource that internal governance to others who have made the laws they must follow.

Like Gore, it seems that AG Eric Holder and his partisan crew at the Federal Dept of Justice are now claiming “hey, if there had JUST been another law in place”:
