Notable Quotes: Wayne LaPierre

“There is not a national, one-size-fits-all solution to protecting our children,” he said. “But do know this – President [Obama] zeroed out school emergency planning grants in last year’s budget and scrapped “Secure Our Schools” policing grants in next year’s budget.” Washington Times Related: Washington Guardian

So, putting armed personel in schools was a wacko idea?

So, NRA Executive VP Wayne LaPierre was crucified for his suggestion for adding more armed folks in schools (even as 1/3 of American schools already had such)?  Gee, what a different a month makes; at today’s Presidential Presser (you know, the one with kids as Progressive stage props?): 18. Provide incentives for schools to hire … Read more

Now if this was a Republican saying this…Part II

CNSNews:

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) announced Wednesday that she is planning to introduce two bills to protect students at schools – the school safety enhancement act, which expands the existing COPS program (Community Oriented Policing Services), and SOS or Save Our Students, which would expand the National Guard program.

SOS “would expand a successful National Guard program in place since 1989 that allows governors to use the guard to assist with law enforcement efforts related to drug interdiction and counter-drug activities. So we take a successful program, and we say we’re gonna add a new purpose, and that’s what we do in our legislation,” she said.

“National Guard troops could be used to support local law enforcement agencies in protecting our children at schools. This could take the form of additional guards at school as well as capital improvements such as strengthening the perimeters of the school and safety procedures,” Boxer added.

…“Right now, the program is a 50-50 match. My bill allows the Justice Department to reduce the local sheriff to just 20 percent for those schools who make the case for more generous federal cost-share,” Boxer said.

And the media and Lefty groups went wild over such a stupid inane idea putting armed guards into kids’s schools…  Oh never mind – I missed that she’s a Democrat

Oh wait!  A Republican did!

Another case of the “true agenda” media showing up? Example: NRA Presser

Certainly the extremely negative tweets of the “Media” that covered the NRA presser have been well covered by others but here’s a taste on video of the slant that the media has on guns when there’s a hot mic present and their attentions are not present: (H/T: Breitbart)

Univ RI Professor Erik Loonis- Oops, Sorry, He Spells it Loomis

Erik Loomis Univ RI goes on a twitter rantThere is so much hate and vulgarity spewing from the Twitter account of University or Rhode Island professor Erik Loomis that I am reluctant to post any of it here.  But I have no objection to you going here to see for yourself.

Let me just prepare you.  University professor.  Anti second amendment.  Newtown.  Hate.  Anger.  Vulgarity. Beaten to death. NRA. Wayne La Pierre.  Head on a stick.  etc, etc.

Commenter Jason provided the phone number to the College “Please contact the president of the college here: 401-874-2444.”

It sounds like a lot of people have been calling.  No reason to stop now.

Blogline of the Day – blame game

“Wait. So Eric Holder isn’t to blame for Fast and Furious, but the NRA is to blame for school shootings? Got it.”

Second Amendment friends aiming at the NH House in one week. Put them there!

Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn’t mean politics won’t take an interest in you.  – Pericles (430 B.C.)

Doing the political blogging since 2005, I’ve had the opportunity to meet a lot of the folks that go to Concord that make decisions that affect you and your family.  In that time, as well, I have become interested in the shooting sports. as well as the importance of my Constitutional Rights and the values with which the Founders originally crafted as the our basis of our Laws.  Well, every location seems to want to toy with the Second Amendment – ranging from those in Chicago and D.C. (which effectively ruled out the ownership of guns by the ordinary person) to that of Vermont (wanna conceal carry?  Make your day and do so – no govt interference needed).

Now, I’m not a member of the NRA – I have a problem with them only speaking up and wielding their Big Political Stick when THEIR right is threatened but rather silent when any of the other Rights come under attack from Progressives, Socialists, Liberals, and Democrats that wish for Big Government to become more controlling (and thus, making individual citizens smaller).  However, they did survey the folks running for the NH House as to their feelings about the Second and gun rights in general.  So, I went through the list and pulled out the folks that I happen to have struck up friendships.  it turned out to be a long list, but let me start with a Grokster with a great NRA grade:

So, if you live in Warner or Webster, we at GraniteGrok ask that you please vote for Susan Olsen (R, NH House Merrimack District 7)!  And we do so for the rest of the folks in the following list:

GrokTV: NRA President David Keene at the Londonderry Fish & Game – Part 3

Once the stump speeches by Ovide Lamontagne, Frank Guinta, and Charlie Bass were over, David Keene, President of the NRA, again took up the mic to give his closing remarks to the membership.  Drew Beamer, NH NRA Field Campaign Representative, then closed out the brief program, asking the assembled NRA members to take action.

Given that President Obama “let the mask slip” concerning implementing new gun control on the nation (an issue in which he has ALWAYS voted for more restrictions rather than for more freedom, showing his distrust of lawful citizens without affecting the actions of criminals)…:

GrokTV: NRA President David Keene at the Londonderry Fish & Game

Last night, NRA President David Keene (formerly head of the American Conservative Union that puts on CPAC) spoke at the Londonderry Fish and Game Club last night.  An appropriate place, as all of the members of the LFGC are NRA members, that David Keene spoke of the NRA mission as well as to the recent remarks … Read more

Have I got a political / gun invite for Kate Miller – an NRA event here in NH!

Previously I had chided Kate Miller, a Democrat from Meredith running for the NH House, for kvetching about Republicans and jobs all the while buying her campaign signs from a firm in Massachusetts.  At the very end of the post, I linked a comment she made at this post at Politico that plainly told us how she felt about firearms (emphasis mine, reformatted for bloggishness):

He should reopen the debate on assault weapons and commit to leading the way toward their banishment from the hands of ordinary citizens. Here in New Hampshire, our Republican-controlled legislature has just allowed the public and elected officials alike to carry weapons in our state House, on the House floor and in the public gallery. At least one elected official carries a Glock, in fact a pink one, and many have asserted that our state House is now safer. One nine-year-old’s death is one too many. School districts across New Hampshire are considering shelving the state House visits by 4th graders that have been part of the curriculum for decades rather than risk the children getting caught in state House cross fire. President Obama can help us move forward, here in New Hampshire and across the country, by leading the way toward the banishment of these heinous weapons.

Right…”state House cross fire.”  Fits in well with her running mate, Lisa DiMartino….but I digress.  I got this in the email in-box:

Londonderry Fish And Game LogoOn Friday, October 19, 2012, NRA National President David A. Keene will be at the Londonderry Fish & Game Club to greet fellow NRA Members and talk about the up and coming elections and NRA’s role in supporting candidates that are pro-second amendment.

I am also told there is a possibility that Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre may make an appearance, but there has been no hard commitment on that aspect of Mr. Keene’s visit.

“Negros With Guns”

Ann Coulter relaxing on back porch....

Ann Coulter, despite her recent foolishness in attacking Newt Gingrich, is nearly always, ahem, “on target.”

As with her recent column, “Negros with Guns,” which starts out like this:

Liberals have leapt on the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in Florida to push for the repeal of “stand your ground” laws and to demand tighter gun control. (MSNBC’S Karen Finney blamed “the same people who stymied gun regulation at every point.”)

We don’t know the facts yet, but let’s assume the conclusion MSNBC is leaping to is accurate: George Zimmerman stalked a small black child and murdered him in cold blood, just because he was black. If that were true, every black person in America should get a gun and join the National Rifle Association…

NRA – a very timid step, but are they finally getting the big picture??

NRA grassroots email alertsAs an former NRA member, I still get their NRA-ILA alerts and I am always figuring that this is the indication of what they are thinking concerning the “big” picture.  After all, a couple of years now when the Dems were pushing the DISCLOSE act that would have restricted Free Speech, the NRA was silent.  Absolutely silent – and that in and of itself created a fire storm from both conservative grassroots and from their own membership akin to “Are you guys flippin’ morons??  You CANNOT just concentrate on protecting just the Second Amendment (the right to bear arms) if they take away your First!”

The NRA kept saying that they were a one issue group (as if that was a sufficient), so that’s why they wouldn’t be speaking out on that issue.  Period – and in my mind, given what they could have brought to bear, a cop-out of the first degree.  That is also why I am an ex-NRA member, because unless you are willing to protect it all, you will lose your one issue.  A particular section of a wall cannot stand on its own and be effective if the rest of the wall has been knocked down by incoming enemy fire – and make no mistake, the entire founding philosophy of the Constitution is under heavy attack from Progressives. Yes, concentrate on your single issue, but there are times we all have to be voluntarily interlocked to protect the freedoms that are trying to be wrenched from us under the guise of the Marxist “greater good” collective group-think.  This is, again, one of those times.
