Email Doodlings – The wars may be ending, but will this wrong headed perception?

Obama has unilaterally ended the Iraq war (hmmm, didn’t he rail against that “Cowboy Unilateralist” Bush for making decisions on his own?) and is on his way in doing the same in Afghanistan.  And while I had some words about it here, this is not the thrust of this post.  Instead, it is this:

It brought back a memory of something very similar – it ignited my ire by effective saying the same thing:

This time, it started off with a discussion back aways about Sarah Palin getting into the Primary race but quickly morphed from that to this and I never expected to hear that from a non-Liberal friend.  In essence, the far Left and the far Right / Libertarian movement have met and in a very ugly fashion in accusing parents of willingly sending their kids to die for an ideology.  This is wrong at several different levels and to be clear, made my blood pressure rise – so I started to answer:

I’d Like To Thank New Hampshire’s Establishment Republicans

DTtanks for the knife in the backespite the attitude and priorities of the more moderate-establishment (r)epublicans, and the snooty first family-checkbook wielding-GOP aristocracy in New Hampshire, the conservative/liberty movement shied away from running third party races in 2010.   They did not split the party, or run as independents, though a few establishment (r)epublicans who lost their primaries did.

Instead, the liberty/conservative movement embraced shared interests and invested themselves in getting Republicans elected.  They offered both time and money, worked sign-waves and phone banks, and helped hand the NHGOP super-majorities in the legislature, to win the entire executive council, two congressional seats, a US Senate seat, and the closest race for governor Comrade Lynch has yet seen.

Part of that success was the tireless work of one Jack Kimball.  After the primary, Jack wasn’t even running for anything, yet he was running everywhere for everyone, committed to getting the Republicans elected whether he agreed with all of their policy positions or not.  His reward was the chairmanship of the State party, duly elected by the voting members.  But a few weeks before that vote, then GOP chair Sununu, while ignoring his own pro-establishment and media bomb throwers, had this to say.

Sununu said he was “a little bit disappointed about some of the divisive comments that have been made by some of Jack’s supporters. That is not the way to bring the party together and it does Jack a disservice because it gives the impression that his support is coming from people who would rather divide than unite.

These are the words of someone convinced of their own supremacy.  The establishment wins, and look, we were all about unity, so that the liberty movement–the losers, could continue to toe the party line and help us win landslide elections.  The End.

Oops. That didn’t happen.  What did happen is the bitter GOP Establishment lost and decided to take democracy and unity on a trip through the Orwellian reassignment machine.

The Pot Calling The Kettle Black

This from the "Pot calling the kettle black" files: Ray Buckley is grinding his little Facebook propaganda mill again in an effort to get the liberal-regressive’s to put down the latte’s and lose the sad little faces from the implosion of Obama’s partisan, moonbeam,  Che Guevara cotillion and get their little rumps in gear to save his chairmanship.

This weeks episode: Citizens United destroyed campaign finance law because the democrats are (according to Buckley) being outspent 8 to 1.  The real problem is that others can now compete with unions and the lefts monster cash apparatus and Ray is just whining about the sudden appearance of real equality.

All one needs to do is sell their soul to a billionaire or industry that will spend millions destroying their opponent. That way the candidate will have only one master instead of those peksy constituents and $100 donors. But my point isn’t to state the obvious it is to slam the progressives unwilling to help.

And Ray would know all about that which is what makes this just so…damn…funny. So I’m clear on the hypocrisy part, (and by the way, when Republicans line up to object to liberal billionaire ATM’s that’s just nonsense) but I do have one question for Ray.  What is a "peksy" constituent?

Not so fast….

I received an email yesterday from the Republican Party of New Hampshire.  I am registered Republican, and have subscribed to the NH GOP’s mailing list.

The opening paragraph goes like this:

"Our Republican leadership team did a great job in setting the table for the November Elections.  We recruited more candidates for state office than the opposition party for the first time in 4 years, and our candidates are really good candidates!"

While it is true that more Republican candidates filed than Democrats (and that we have "really good" candidates), I feel a little unsettled by the notion that the GOP seems to be taking much of the "recruiting" credit.

From my vantage point, it looks like the majority of candidates filed on their own accord, not because of any GOP recruiting.  In fact, I would say that a large number of the "first time" candidates are part of, or are very sympathetic with the 912, Tea Party, Libertarian, or Free State mindsets.  They have simply had enough, deciding on their own, or at the request of friends, to be part of the correction.

I think it would benefit the established GOP to show a bit more humility towards this phenomenon, else feel a potential backlash of a significant part of their “membership”.
