Troopers are not the only rent-seekers – so is Pike Industries

Grokster Steve’s post (“Troopers Admit – They Just Want the Money“) is a great one that demonstrates rent-seeking –  enriches the few at the expense of the many by advocating for an action by Government.  In the case of the State Troopers, they’re absolutely good with having Government approve a casino simply because it will … Read more

Troopers Admit – They Just Want the Money

The New Hampshire Troopers Association and the New Hampshire Police Association agree. Legalizing casino gambling wouldn’t endanger public safety but would in fact be a boon to law enforcement budgets, New Hampshire state police and police officers argued Monday. No more crime than adding a large mall.  Troopers are stretched thinn.  There are even plea’s for concern … Read more

Democrats Always Lie About Taxes and Spending

Democrats lie about taxes, spending, and caring about the middle class, and two opportunities to prove that have recently presented themselves. Hassan’s Budget Gamble Takes Heat From Her Left

No one should be surprised to see Maggie Hassan’s budget has millions of dollars in revenue from a source that does not even exist. In this instance it is gambling, but a few years ago Senator Hassan was part and parcel to repeated budget balancing fiascoes that relied on non existent revenue. She voted for budgets “balanced” with revenues … Read more

On the dole: “A hand up or a hammock?” Let’s get back to basics

Welfare, that is.  Used to be called “charity” from private sources, and sometimes, folks stayed at the county “poor house”.  Nowadays, the dole (heck, even “welfare”)  is dressed up in smooth bureaucratise so as not to “cause undue stigmatism towards those that need assistance”.  Payments go directly from Government “dole-er outers” to those that supply … Read more

This is a defense of the NH GOP Party Platform? Oy vay!

Yes, the vote on HB 437 (the repeal of gay marriage) did not go the way that I would have hoped.  Yes, I agree that the primary concern of the NH GOP majority in the House and the Senate should be fiscal issues, fiscal issues, and more fiscal issues.  However, there is always a fiscal … Read more

Gambling On Our Future

A few days ago I wrote this (among other things) about the risk of bringing casinos to New Hampshire… Years of Casino ‘revenue’ in Concord would inevitably create the opportunity for entrenched incumbency and make every race about money, and who can spend it.   The special interest money would favor those who support Casino interests … Read more

Gambling? Seriously?

The success of any move to add Casinos to New Hampshire will hinge on the Libertarian Republicans currently crowding the House and their ability to override a likely Lynch veto.  While I am on their side in almost every other case, when it comes to casinos we part ways, and not for the reasons you … Read more

The Red Herring Of Granite State Gambling

At that time, I was a staunch advocate for expanded gaming in the … Read more

Duh-Fruscia 2.0

Someone was kind enough to send me a sliver of NH House Rep Tony DiFrusica’s (R-INO) voting record–that part that makes his desperate clinging to the Republican party untenable. -Voted for HCR2   Endorsing the National Health Care Act  (Voted to endorse ObamaCare!)   -Voted for same-sex marriage (HB1590 & HB73)   -Voted against parental consent … Read more
