So I want to revisit the utter lack of fear that I see in our society – a lack of situational awareness, a lack of a sense of danger. This, BTW, applies to both individuals, as well as societies, as they ritually intone Oh, that’s just not possible on a multitude of topics.
A SPECIFIC EXAMPLE OF UTTER DENIAL: OCTOBER 7TH
Just consider the flood of denials that any “real” atrocities took place in Israel on October 7; that, or rationalization excuses that such crimes against civilians were justified – citing comparisons to what Israel has been doing in reprisal ignores the fact that, until October 7, Gaza was a thriving city. For example.

Yeah, some “concentration camp”. (Remember, Gaza has a border with Egypt too. You should see the wall that Egypt built! Yet people insist that the conditions there were heartless and desperate privation.
Despite countless articles about the atrocities of October 7, several of which I show below (graphic material warning!), people deny it. They call the material “oversold” and “outright fakes” and such, despite eyewitness testimony and forensic evidence. Lived testimony of the hostages taken. Why? Because to admit that such things happened would mean shattering their world view that people are basically good.

Hamas Massacre | October 7th Proof
One last video on this particular topic. Extreme warning! They captured a pregnant Israeli woman, held her down, taped her mouth shut, and cut her baby out of her. And videoed it. But this is not new for Islam; per noted scholar Raymond Ibrahim (bolding added) about an Islamic massacre in 1876:
American journalist MacGahan, who reported from Bulgaria, wrote … “When a Mohammedan has killed a certain number of infidels he is sure of Paradise, no matter what his sins may be.…[T]he ordinary Mussulman … in order to swell the count, ripped open pregnant women, and killed the unborn infants.”
More on that particular Islamic horror.
Nor was cutting off of women’s breasts on October 7 unprecedented. Look what happened in Hebron, in 1929 – two decades before Israel was even announced at the UN:
[A]ccompanied by two medical men, Dr. Dantziger and Dr. Ticho. I intended to gather up the severed sexual organs and the cut-off women’s breasts we had seen lying scattered over the floor and in the beds.
Also in Jerusalem during the same riots. And even earlier, in 1856 (source site is in Hebrew):
And more recently, at the Bataclan attacks in France:
“They cut off testicles and shoved them into the victims’ mouths.
They stabbed pregnant women in the womb and raped them.
They beheaded people.
They gouged people’s eyes out.”
But… but… but Islam is a Religion of Peace!
I don’t mean to dwell on this one particular example though, as a Jew with strong ties to Israel I concede a personal stake in this, but I am using these documented Islamic terrors like this to highlight the fact that if you try to tell people this, their brains shut down. “No, no, that’s just not possible!”
Just like they flat-out deny anything that upsets their sunlit world view of reality.
THAT STABLE WORLD, ALL AN ILLUSION
The stable world people have in their minds is a forever world, and there’s no thought given that anything seriously bad could happen to themselves or their society… despite history or experiences of people they know. They have stability privilege.
I’ve attempted to get my Holocaust-generation cousin to, at least, have 1-2 weeks of canned goods, some spare batteries and flashlights, blankets, and a gallon of water a day. “Oh, that’s not necessary – I can always go to the store”!
I discussed the ending of a 30+ friendship in A Crisis of Trust, when I argued that governments might not be trustworthy (related to the Covid Jab). As Jesse Kelly said a couple of years ago, it’s time to triage your relationships – not everyone can be saved. And if you do stay in touch, limit the information flow to them. This should be done, not because you hate them, but because people simply refuse, a la Yuri Bezmenov, to see things laid plainly in front of them that would shatter their world view. But in the back of their minds, they’ll remember…
Do not doubt that these same people who scoff at the possibility of food shortages, economic collapse, a CBDC digital prison, etc., will be the first people knocking at your door – begging for food, etc., from the preps you’ve set aside – when the fecal matter hits the air motivator. And if you refuse, they’ll be furious. Not just furious that they, the grasshoppers, are being denied that which they believe is their due… but subconsciously furious that you were right and they were wrong. Vanity is the Devil’s favorite sin, and once again Sowell is correct:
A LACK OF FEAR
So, a story about a lack of fear. Back in college there was a grisly murder discovered in one of the parking lots of a local mall over a summer – no suspects ever arrested AFAIK even now, certainly not then. A young woman raped, beaten, murdered, dismembered, then left in a car – as horrific as you can get. It was the talk of the campus. Yet all that school year I would see women walking around, alone, late at night and often with headphones on, utterly oblivious to their surroundings. I recall one rather shapely blonde in a halter top and short-shorts, easily later than 11 PM, behind whom I walked for some time (ok, admiring the view 😉) – headphones on and so loud in her ears I could hear it from a distance. Certainly she couldn’t hear anything above that Walkman’s din. Not once did she look around to see who might be around her. Zero situational awareness; zero consideration that the campus might not be a perfect and safe paradise; and zero awareness she was being followed (by me, albeit not intentionally – we simply had a similar path for perhaps 10-15 minutes).
I see similar things with women at the grocery store wearing their work IDs with their full names plus workplace shown or, in one case, a teenage girl with her mother, having her driver’s license with name and address clearly visible in a neck pouch holder. I did speak to them and pointed out the daughter’s exposed information, making the point that “I’m harmless; someone else might not be”. The mother, who clearly had not thought at all about it, told her daughter to turn the license around in the pouch to conceal that information.
Situational awareness is something which I’ve attempted to bring to my kids’ minds. For a while we played variants of Kim’s Game to build observational skills. I’ve already taught them to never walk into a place without looking for exits and knowing how they might walk out. I have read the excellent book To the Left of Bang and have tried for years to spoon-feed small lessons to them about profiling and establishing situational baselines. At the mall, I never sit in the center of the food court but only at the edge – for a faster potential exit, and I’ve told them why I do that. Another thing I’ve told them is that if we’re driving and I ever say “Get down, get small,” it means for them to crouch down into the seat footwell, ass to the outside, and curl into as small a ball as they can… in case we encounter a BLM or other protest. If they’re going to get shot, better in the ass than the head. Small things, but best to ingrain a survival mindset now. And my kids know, because I’ve harped on it for years, to look for alternative exits every time they go into a building.
Similarly, women who, despite news like this, the spiraling rape stats (and many later analyses confirm this one), and myriad other incidents sexual or not across Europe still push for more migrants:
The woman died while being raped. Police say the perpetrator continued to rape the woman’s corpse well after she had died. The Somalian was apprehended by the police while still in the act of raping the murdered woman.
And yet women continue to help them. Consider these women in France helping migrants into boats going to England:

Let us not forget Tommy Robinson’s documentary The Rape of Britain.
And within living memory of the Shoah (Holocaust) and the near annihilation of our people, the vast majority of fellow Jews in America want more refugees to America out of “Tikkun Olam” – healing the world – despite Synagogues in France (let alone elsewhere in Europe) needing armed guards 24/7 and even concertina wire atop newly installed high fences with closed-circuit cameras for protection against those very same refugees. Like people across Europe, whether gays, women, or Jews, or just liberals in general, our civilization seems absolutely unable to see plain evidence before them of what happens when immigrants get brought in en masse. And this is doubled and redoubled now after October 7 and Israel hitting back, with arson attacks and in-person attacks on Jewish institutions and Jews, seemingly daily.

Or the Leftists in Germany, including many of the “Rainbow Coalition” who, despite a recent Berlin attack by an Islamic terrorist, focus their ire on… “White Supremacy.”
There are unavoidable threats and things that are unfair that happen in the real-world life that we live every day, and then there are THREATS and GROSS INJUSTICES and, as a civilization, we’ve seemingly lost the ability to differentiate between the two. Why?
