David Hogg is something of a Kardashian in Democrat circles. He’s famous for being famous for shouting and fist-waving after the Parkland shootings. A student of the school at the time, though, like Sandy Cortez, was neither present nor in danger.
Hogg, to his credit, did not pretend to cry at the fence line, but he did use his fame or infamy, your choice, to make fist-waving into a lucrative career. He’d managed to keep his name and face in the public enough to get the DNC’s delegates to choose him as one of its party vice-chairs, a role (for context) held for years by NH State Party Chairman for life Ray Buckley.
Unlike Buckley, who has retained his local crown over decades despite persistent losses and an inability to attain or sustain majorities in any part of the state government (he takes credit for monopolizing all the Federal seats). Hogg’s success as a cog in the party machine lasted almost as long as his effort to become a pillow mogul. A guy the Dem Machine chose (presumably) to help drag young white men back) But who was targeted, ousted, and then intimidated into not running again? It wasn’t that, despite being young and white, he had little else in common with young men; it was that he openly called for primarying the fossils occupying for life seats in Congress in safe Democratic Ghetto districts. Attracting young voters and building a young bench are not, it seems on equal footing.1
The machine chewed him up and tossed him out. They unseated him after the party elected him, then made a deal that convinced him not to run in the election to replace him.
Another example of how Democracy works in the Democrat Party.
A little Bernis Sanders without the strange but endearing accent. They both run their anti-gun moths off while traveling wth armed security. They both spread hyperbolic half-truths to make money (althought I suspect Sanders knows they are lies). The party machine has robbed Sanders repeatedly, while Hogg is just getting started.
I think David needs an accent, though I’ve suggest in the past, and the DNC booting him as Vice Chair appears to be proof, that he’d have amore sucessif he started identifying as a woman. He can still dress like a man, pretend to act like one, feel attracted ot women, he just has to say he’s a woman.
They may still have given him the boot. The DNC was none too happy about Sandy Cortez leveraging her fame to oust Democrat ossils in primaries, but she’s in Congress, safe district, relaible vote – and her squad has been losing re-election to more moderate Dems who will happily pull the lever for the party agenda without all the theactrics. Candidates who don’t get caught lying as often as Cortez.
Lying is required and while Hogg gets a lot wrong he seems to beleive it so its not lying in his head.
Maybe he should start lying to the party. He might have better luck.
