How About No Income Taxes For Anyone Making Less than 200K/Year?

The Proglodytes are forever whining about someone paying their fair share or taxing the rich, even though Democrats have more oligarchs (rich folks) registered on their team. It’s a bait and switch. Democrats want to tax the crap out of everyone with a tax code full of loop holes only the rich can afford to jump through.

You need lawyers and accountants, and they’ve got lots of them, while the rest of us are hitting the support headset on TurboTax to ask questions about the child tax credit or if we can claim this or that deduction. It is rigged, which is why the Rich rarely say much when the Dems’ guillotine-wielding street theatrics begin.

The elites don’t have to pay their fair share for the same reason they need private jets. They claim a responsibility to represent the peasants, and flying coach slows down their ability to do that. They can emit, expend, waste, commit fraud, and shouldn’t to be subject to the same laws ‘cuz they are better.

Donald Trump is a billionaire populist who has assembled one of the most diverse political coalitions in recent American history, perhaps even in the nation’s history. He wants to make America great for everyone, not just people who can afford the lifestyle he gave up to be President. He also appears serious about addressing the issues with the tax code and income taxes. He hasn’t said much specifically about simplifying things, but DOGE did obtain permission to audit the IRS (hee hee), and he just floated a plan to eliminate income taxes for anyone who earns less than $ 200,000 a year.

“When Tariffs cut in, many people’s Income Taxes will be substantially reduced, maybe even completely eliminated. Focus will be on people making less than $200,000 a year,” he said Sunday on his Truth Social network.

People who make over 200K pay the majority of taxes collected, so any move to make living under that threshold tax-free at the federal level isn’t going to cost that much, generally. I can’t say tariffs would make up the difference or that the effect of this tit for tat on cost of living would net a zero increase related to good and services. However, even Democrats are reluctant to pay taxes, and increased domestic manufacturing and production would create secure supply chains, foster competition, enhance efficiency, and lower prices.

And no taxes.

“We’re going to make a lot of money, and we’re going to cut taxes for the people of this country” through income from tariffs, Trump said on his way back to Washington from his golf club in New Jersey. “It’ll take a little while before we do that,” he added.

Congress would need to pass it, but it would make a statement before the midterms. Republicans have already gotten Democrats to vote against no taxes on tips or social security. Imagine getting them on the record opposing no taxes for most of the middle class.

Or, perhaps this is akin to Canada becoming the 51st State and annexing Greenland, which is more posturing to build toward other types of agreements.

As for taxes, I’m fine with “none” for anyone grossing under $100,000, if you need to negotiate to a more agreeable midpoint.
