Back in August, I noted that NH Republicans had pulled to a practical parity with the Democrats in voter registration this past year:
Interesting. I was actually scurrying around the NH Secretary of State site looking for something else (dang if I can remember now) when I thought this was what I wanted. It wasn’t but still kinda interesting. Look at the SECOND arrow and compare it to the June 16, 2021 numbers a 17% drop in total voters. That’s a huge drop in what would have been perceived voters here in NH. And that set the stage for my second quick observation – a trend:
Well, at that point, it was just “hopeful thinking” that anything positive would come of it. Of course, we now know, three months later, it was a foretelling data point. Here in NH, Republicans kept the Governorship, the Executive Council (a “New Hampsha thing”), the NH Senate, and the NH House
Sidenote: well, as least electorally, the Rs kept the NH House. Unfortunately, if Steve’s rumors prove to be true, “Republican” Kimberly Rice is looking to pull a Scanlon/Jasper kind of move and align herself with the Democrats so as to capture herself the Speakership. And in doing so, the Democrats may have pulled off a virtual coup.
Well, it does seem that it wasn’t just NH that came back to its American roots – the entire country returned from its “Progressive nightmare.” It wasn’t just with the 312-226 Electoral College results for Trump; feast your eyes:
So there’s that. Just look at California, New York, and Massachusetts! Each of those States, normally true blue hardcore Democrat States, shaded more red. When you look at that map, no State went [more] blue-ish.
To me, after seeing the leftward jerk that the country endured 12 out of the last 16 years, it’s clear that the pendulum has begun to swing back to the center. I do have to say, however, that Republicans MUST not go nuts. However, the Rs MUST get something done that matters to their base:
Winning is just a precursor; what you do afterward is most important
In other words, keep the campaign promises and stick to the Platform—those put your prodigious posteriors into those seats of Power. Don’t go fringe or stray—keep it simple.
And keep other Republicans that would drive you off the cliff, or bring the rock slides down upon your agenda (like Mike Bordes, Dave Nagel, and now, Kimberly Rice) and have your base, ahGAIN, wail “can’t you get ANYTHING important done???”
