Credit Where Due: Sandy Cortez Makes Herself Useful

Regardless of what you think her intentions may be, Congresswoman Sandy Cortez deserves some credit for asking Kimberly Cheatle, the now-former head of the Secret Service, an excellent question.

Stopped clock and all that, I suppose?

Looking at the landscape, anyone with even the most rudimentary situational awareness would have the same question as Sandy Cortez. They would have had someone on that roof. And they did. An officer was assigned but came down – reportedly – because it was too hot, not too slopey (again, allegedly). So, global warming almost got Trump killed. It did get Thomas Crooks killed. And the Secret Service had snipers on nearby metal rooftops who didn’t die, so global warming is not working either.

Let’s go with FUBAR, Cluster, or WTF, or you can choose.

But then, here we have an elected Democrat, a member of a party notorious not just for its lack of knowledge about firearms but a consistent habit of knowing less than nothing. And not just any Democrat. The illustrious Ms. Cortez descended (at least in name) from a famous European Colonizer (a conquistador)—the Neiman Marxist. Former mixologist turned millionaire Congresswoman honored across the social-media multiverse for her lack of intellectual agility. She of the fake crying at the border, who lied about where she was during the Capitol “breach,” and wearer of the Tax the Rich dress at the Met Gala. Cortez, who would not have shed a tear if Mr. Trump had not cocked his head the fractional distance necessary to keep a bullet out of his brain.

That was a good question, Sandy, and it deserves some small credit.

Not everyone will agree, but it has always been our policy to acknowledge good behavior, regardless of party (just as we report what we consider bad behavior on the same terms). And while this seems like the simplest of questions, given the source, we have to commend Cortez for investing even a few moments of her valuable time considering it, asking it, and expecting an answer.
