There’s a very important editorial on FrontpageMag.com today. READ THE WHOLE THING. It isn’t very long. It’s scary. It’s a reflection on “those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it” and how it is being repeated today. Now. Here. In the USA.
Once upon a time, a simple .22 rifle and ammunition could be purchased from the Sears & Roebuck catalog. It could be shipped to you via US Mail Parcel Post. When it came in the mail, you could open it, load it, and shoot it. Nobody minded – seriously, nobody minded. They just didn’t want you to shoot their dog (a very fair request). I know. That’s how I bought my first .22 – a Sears & Roebuck .22 semiautomatic rifle. “Sears and Roebuck” was even engraved on the barrel.
Over time, the government “helped” provide “public safety” by first disallowing the purchase of rifles through the mail. Then by disallowing their purchase unless you showed an ID. Then came the requirement for getting an okay from the state, and some states also required the local police chief to sign off on it. Then came licensing, age restrictions, and limits on how many rounds could be held in that rifle. Today, you’re lucky if you live somewhere you can still buy a .22 rifle at all, and where ammunition is not taxed by the individual round.
Why did I write about guns?
Because the same progression – freedom to restrictions to complete elimination of Constitutional rights – has been brewing due to the existence of a virus. Yes, a more virulent strain of a virus that affects the respiratory system with a higher transmission rate than traditional viruses. One with an extremely high survivability rate – over 99%.
We’ve suffered through viruses before. But this time is different. Rather than try drugs that may have antiviral effects, we have been told “nothing works” and that those who advocated for those drugs were misleading the public. Information about drugs was intentionally withheld by the government. We were told to wear masks and “socially separate”, and then wait for a vaccine. An untested vaccine with no history of effectiveness. And now, we’re being told that vaccination is not enough: we must wear masks and continue to socially separate “until further notice”.
But we are not being told when it will end. We’re just being told “obey… or else”.
Stop saying “it can’t happen here”.
It CAN happen here. It IS happening here. It always starts slowly with a series of small events that are ignored by saying “it’s just a few people”. Then, as the movement spreads, it becomes “well, it isn’t happening here“. Soon you’ve become used to it – and then it’s “well, that’s just the way things are”.
You did it to yourself.
BECAUSE YOU IGNORED THE WARNING SIGNS.
Three weeks to flatten the curve became six months. Then it became “wait for the vaccine.” Then “wear a mask whether you’re vaccinated or not.” And now, it’s “everyone, including the vaccinated, must wear masks to prevent “break-thru infections'”.
I’ll put $100 on the table: my bet is that we’ll be forced to show vaccination status or test results before being allowed to shop for necessities such as groceries and clothing, and possibly even go to the mall – and that will become a requirement before the end of this year. Any takers?
The Karens will transition into Nazis: they’ll be the ones demanding that “those people should not be allowed anywhere”.
Unless we say “ENOUGH!” and do it now, we could soon find ourselves being transported to “facilities” for “medical treatment”.
But that couldn’t happen here… could it?
