As Steve mentioned, a number of the Groksters (Steve, Scott, Kimberly, and I) went to the Ricochet and National Review event at the Raddison Manchester last night that that had two panel discussions as well as a Republican Debate watch party (yes, a different atmosphere than me sitting on the couch frantically tweeting out). The panel that I recorded was the GLop; well worth the time as the three of them are funny as all get out.
Internet problems abounded this past Saturday – it and the UStream servers just kept pooping out on us. Since the “recording camera” is not hooked up to the board, it never hears the folks on the phones. So, I’m just going to post up the segments in which we had all the participants in studio (apologies to or guests that were on the line).
You’ll note the camera (yes, equipment envy on my part) moving around during the show. That was from the PBS News Hour getting some extra footage as Steve was interviewed by one of our guests (Lisa Dejardins) after the show. That piece will run during Primary nite this Tuesday outlining some thoughts from people from the different wings of the NH GOP.
Pre-show: our normal techie checklist and random thoughts and discussions
Segment 1: Emily Sandblade comes on to talk about polling
Segment 2: NH State Rep Max Abramson delivers the dirty dealings in da Statehouse (once again, Republicans acting no so like Republicans)
Segment 4a&b: Lisa Dejardins from the PBS News Hour joins in and we have a great time diving into the subject of “how to fix it??”
Progressive NH State Rep Cynthia Chase (D): (concerning the Free State Project having chosen NH as their destination state, even as Chase did the same as a R.I. transplant): “What we can do is make the environment here so unwelcoming that some will choose not to come, and some may actually leave. One way is to pass measures that will restrict freedoms that they think they will find here.
The Free State Project emblem
Sucks to be that micro-totalitarian, huh! So willing to strip we who are already here of our Freedom (who aren’t even FSPers) to keep those that love Liberty from coming. Typical Progressive – absolutely willing to PUNISH the innocent for the “sins” of the targeted folks they hate. But the good news is here:
The 3rd of February will now forever be known in liberty circles as “Porcupine Day”–the day after Groundhog Day–and the day the Free State Project officially announced the move has been triggered. Join us in the Free State!
(H/T: Concord Monitor – irony: the socialist leaning rag that is no Liberty lover itself)
Heh! An economic advisor for both Hillary and Obama for many years… Poor ACTUAL Communist Bernie Sanders – his hero is supporting his opponent! (H/T: Junk Science)
This is edited video of the press conference introducing the NH Income tax calculator; which we discussed in the first two segments of GrokTALK! this past Saturday. The calculator allows anyone who lives in New Hampshire to calculate your own additional cost from new taxes that will be required to pay for expanded Medicaid even before the Feds … Read more
There are some impressive points to this win. Sen. Cruz ran against the Iowa ethanol lobby and won. Despite being the conservative Sarah Palin endorsed Donald Trump, but that failed to push Trump over the top. Hot Air reminds us that pastor Mike the Huckster Huckabee ran all over the state calling Cruz a phony Christian. Maybe the voters in Iowa noticed how Huckabee was more the phony Republican?
Sooper Mexican | You can sense how angry the farmer is, but Cruz employs his impressively deep knowledge of the subject to explain calmly why his policies will HELP farmers, even though he’ll phase out the government subsidy. Maybe the farmer was just being nice at the end, but he went from total anger to … Read more
From US Senator Ben Sasse who points out, for the Progressives that have lost their way (and their minds) that America is not great because of its Government but because of Civil Society. That would be the interactions of individuals who our Founders knew were the sovereigns and not a Monarchy, a Royal class, or the courtiers.
I keep saying that Progressives are not FORWARD looking but are,
Legos, that is: I dryly note the bias shown – Vermont Public Radio says “How the Iowa Caucuses works” and then goes on to tell how the DEMOCRAT cauci work with just a passing reference to the Republican version. Yet another example of a Democrat “bait and switch” (heh!) – like during election times, they campaign about … Read more
…for the guy that took his bride to Moscow for their honeymoon. Berni just released his first national TV spot using Simon and Garfunkel’s “Looking for America”. Powerline’s Steve Haywood had his own take on the musical background as Bernie is trying to normalize, lighten up, and paper over what Socialism really will do to … Read more

In this short animated video from Learn Liberty I explain why raising the minimum wage is a bad idea if the goal is to improve the economic fortunes of the least-advantaged workers and families. The minimum wage yields unfair advantages to families, such as mine, with teenagers who hail from middle- and high-income households, who are well-educated, … Read more
Boy, Marco squirms in and out of the “immigration hole” faster than the Eldest’s pet snake. We Conservatives had problems with this former TEA Party darling since he decided that he would hook up with Senator Chuckie Schumer (D-NY) who basically took him to the cleaners w/respect illegal immigration. A lot of us went “HUH?” when Schumer sent him forth to try to “convince” Conservatives “hey, this Amnesty isn’t all that bad!”.
Downhill from there and this has dogged him ever since. This is what happens when you break the Consistency rule – on such an important issue, Trust has been lost. The problem is that with Rubio’s constant straddling that line (like a football player doing foot drills, one side and then the other) with small steps first this side and then another. So who knows what his real intentions are? And today, he made it REAL problematic for himself and the primary voters on Meet The Press – it really was a head scratcher for me:
TODD: Let me ask you, by the way, quickly, on the eleven million [illegal aliens residing in the United States]. Are you still for find a way for them to stay legally in the United States?
Rubio: We are not going to be able to do anything on people who are here illegally until we first prove to people that illegal immigration is under control and America is safe.
We’re in the best of hands – ugh. The only thing I can say is that for the first time in a long time, here’s a journalist doing real journalism – and making it entertaining!
(H/T: American Thinker) Transcript (hilarious in just the reading) after the jump (emphasis on the jovial parts)
Of course Hillary can’t because she CAN’T; it would finally admitting that Democrats hate our entire system of government – Socialists HATE our stated form of government, a Constitutional Republic with democratically elected Representatives. Instead, they feel put upon that THEY just can’t rule by fiat (re: Obama) or see us ruled by like-minded technocratic bureaucrats. After all, THEY are the experts – all-knowing and (??) non-partisan. Except we know, in the latter case, they aren’t and they aren’t. But they certainly keep trying to change America, little by little, decade by decade, all the same.
Back to Hillary – here’s Chris Matthews, once again, asking this top level Democrat “what’s the difference between a Democrat and a Socialist”?
Notice the prevarication, the hesitation, the deflection and finally, the outright refusal to answer. It’s rather easy: both want to rule your lives and how you live it. THEY want to use government to determine every jot and tittle of how a “free” American is to live, according to THEIR precepts. Ours? Not so much. My measuring stick is quite simple: what area of your live remains totally untouched by government law, statute, regulation, or ordinance? And even more important (and sadder), why have we allowed this to happen?
My Youngest was supposed to be in Texas today for the unveiling of a documentary of his unit, part of the 101st Airborne, as they spent a year in Afghanistan up in the Pech Valley at what was COP (Combat Outpost) Michigan – the most attacked US facility by the Taliban during that time period. Unfortunately, he came down sick a couple of days ago and had to cancel. That doesn’t mean that Dad can’t show the trailer:
Pech River Valley Boys: Tales From Afghanistan is a short documentary film about Bravo Company / 3rd Platoon / 1-327IN of the 101st Airborne Division’s deployment to the Pech River Valley, Afghanistan in May 2010 and to help preserve the memory of their fallen brother SPC Brian Tabada.
