The democrats are probably already crying like a toddler who just lost their balloon. (Ironic that they wont have to pay a fine.) But we should look at this seriously and in a context that the progressives understand.

Reading The Constitution…

Reading the Constitution to progressives on the floor of the US House is like a priest reading from the bible at an exorcism. They scream out and writhe, swear, insult, spew hatred, and do everything in their power to intimidate you before you can get to the end. They started screaming days ago, actually.

Lube Job

In a front page story from the Wednesday Union Leader the group AIDS Services for the Monadnock Region has run into trouble.   After a presentation at a local High School they offered ‘safe sex kits’ to students.  The distribution approved by the school’s administration stopped after learning that flavored lubricant and candy were included with the condoms that are—dare I say traditionally?—handed out.  Neither parents nor administrators were pleased by the message that “flavored lubricant” sends to 14-year olds.

The money shot, I’m sorry quote, comes from Monadnock School Board member Bruce Barlow.

“You can’t hand something like that to a 14-year-old boy and expect him to respond to it as an adult would.”

Seventy-thousand years of human history passed us by and somehow we missed this until now?

The New Hampshire Republican bumper sticker

There’s a little bit of a story behnd the NH GOP bumper sticker introduced in the GraniteGrok posting below. The design was originally going to be "New Hampshire" on the top line, with "New Republican" on the bottom line. Unite Behind What?

As for “bringing the party together,” it is not a notion in a vacuum nor desirable if the product moves us in the wrong direction. Unity, more often than not, is the product of a force of nature whose clarity about the goal or mission is so clear that people gather round to listen and then feel compelled to act. Julianna Bergeron may be faithful and competent from the perspective of a party insider, but so is a good accountant. That does not make them capable of leading and inspiring a movement.

Did you Question Those ‘Declining’ Teen-Mother Birth Rates?

The day after we celebrated the birth of Christ the Nashua Telegraph treated us to a report that birth rates among teens had declined. If you poked around beyond the confines of the Telegraph piece you would discover that New Hampshire was one of the states leading the way. And there were some very amusing thoughts on the decline, but no one even suggested an increase in chemical or surgical abortions as a cause.

This weeks Merrimack Journal was actually the Bedford Journal. They called it the ‘New Years’ Journal, but with a few minor exceptions, everyting in it was about Bedford. The letters to the editor were from Bedford. The news and sports…Bedford.

A BULLHORN OR BUREAUCRAT FOR NH GOP?

Now that New Hampshire has changed from blue to red, will the political reporters and those prevailing Republican elected officials heed the very strong message sent by the voters? What were the voters looking for when they cast their ballots this past November?

When making a choice the informed voter looks at what distinguishes one candidate from another. The rhetoric of speeches, written statements and answers to questions provides some information. The letter behind the name indicates a governing philosophy or view of government reFlected in the platform of the candidate’s party. Thus, the voter expects the prevailing candidates will promote the advertised governing philosophy.

The NH Republican Platform begins, “We, New Hampshire Republicans, are united by our belief in God, individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited government, limited spending, limited taxes, economic opportunity, homeland security, compassion for the truly needy and our conFidence in the strength of families, places of worship, communities and volunteerism.” This appears to reFlect those underlying principles of the Declaration of Independence upon which America was founded, the “unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
 
Later this month, the Republican State Committee will be electing new officers, the most publicity going to the selection of their Party leader. According to the retiring Chairman, John H. Sununu, “the next chairman must have a real commitment to conservative Republican principles.”– those principle articulated in the party platform.

Brunelle’s Road To Damascus Moment?

Road%20To%20Damascus.jpgAfter four years of defending the democrat budgeting strategy of spend first tax later (during what any democrat worth his donkeys-ass referred to endlessly as the ‘worst recession in history’), NHDP executive director and NH House rep from Manchester Mike Brunelle shows us his new conservative streak.

“No matter who you are, Republican or Democrat, you were elected to work on the economy and jobs. I don’t think the people of Manchester want them to be dealing with these social issues,” said Brunelle. “We need to be focused on the working families in this state. … Anything other than that is beyond frivolous.”

The NH GOP Chairman Race: Part I

On January 22, 2011 members of the state committee of the New Hampshire Republican Party will gather to conduct party business and elect a new Chairman of the state party for the ensuing two years. It is a two-way race between former NH Gubernatorial candidate Jack Kimball, and the chairman of the Cheshire County Republican Party, Juliana Bergeron.

Before talking about the state GOP chairmanship race, though, I think it’s really important to talk about what’s right with the New Hampshire Republican Party. Its nominal legislative majority was wiped out in 2006 ("nominal" because of the number of RINO’s then in office). That allowed the Democrats full-rein over our state for four years. They wreaked destruction during that time. But by 2010 Republicans had regrouped and came roaring back with huge numbers of new activists, unlimited energy, new and improved activist organizations (such as GraniteGrok.com and the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire), and solid unity. November witnessed a tidal wave victory, bestowing huge GOP majorities in the State House, the State Senate, and the Executive Council. How could the NH GOP have come back that strong in just four short years?
