I think we all know how ‘sensitive’ New Hampshire Democrats get when you start playing games with ‘press access.’  So I wonder what their thoughts are with regard to  what their Abortion Goddess Wendy Davis just did in Travis County, Texas.

The Travis County Democratic Party held a fundraiser with Wendy Davis on Tuesday, and Davis delivered her stump speech. That’s normal stuff. But in a highly unusual move, the TCDP and the Davis campaign barred the event to all but one media outlet, the Texas Tribune, which livestreamed it.

Madam Speaker and colleagues, former Representative Richard “Stretch” Kennedy sadly passed away two weeks ago.  In preparing this speech I’ve had the great pleasure of reminiscing with some of Stretch’s friends, colleagues, relatives, neighbors, employees and acquaintances.  The same adjectives were mentioned time and time again: unique, larger than life, kind, generous, gruff, fearless, honest, playful, politically incorrect, strong willed, unruly, outdoorsman, collector.  He had a character so large it sometimes seemed as though he’d stepped off a movie screen.  Even the most outrageous rumors such as Stretch owning a tank or flying for Air America somehow seemed plausible.

Stretch was extremely generous with his time, money and friendship in matters large and small.  I met Stretch soon after moving to the state when I started attending meetings of the Gun Owners of New Hampshire.  We met here at the Concord Holiday Inn, and Stretch was part of a group of members who would go to Uno’s for late snack after the meetings.  He went out of his way to make me feel welcome in their group and not like an outsider.

The Union Leader has already reported this, so why should we wait.

Bristol high-tech entrepreneur and conservative activist Andrew Hemingway will announce his candidacy at an event in Manchester, a source close to Hemingway’s fledgling campaign told the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Hemingway, 31, will make the announcement at a “Solutions First” rally at The Yard Restaurant at 7 p.m., an event organized by a “Draft Hemingway” political action committee that organized about a month ago.

He is expected to file paperwork organizing a campaign committee on Friday.

I guess that Draft Andrew Hemingway for Governor thing worked then?

After today’s sub-committee “hearing” on HB 1589, Universal Background Checks, I am saddened to have to admit to myself that any foolish beliefs I held about representative government and due process are the stuff of children’s dreams. I’ve always liked to believe that I am a logical, rational person who is able to connect dots; when I cannot, I used to believe that sound, in-depth research would lead me to facts, and ultimately, truths. Maybe not truths that I liked, but truths nevertheless.

What I am saying is I am fully convinced that that the fix is in on HB 1589…[you’ll see below the amendment handed out today which we were told they plan to amend again before Tuesday’s Executive Session] The chair of the committee, Ed Butler, Democrat of Hart’s Location, could care less about 1000s of emails and hundreds of phones opposing gun registration – the ultimate goal of HB 1589. He says “appreciates” our points of view, he says ‘respects” our opinions, but from where I sat today, he seemed as though he could give a red rat’s rear-end about our rights when he believes they should be restricted, if allowed at all. He and the bill’s prime sponsor, Elaine “Blood Red Shoes” Andrews-Ahern (lord I hate the pretension of hyphenated names), are hell-bent on sneaking the camel’s nose of gun registration underneath the statutory tent.

The most Partisan President rambles on in unspecific platitudes with but one exception.  He is prepared to act like a king to get what he wants if Congress won’t give it to him.  It’s his most consistent theme of late.

So how does New Hampshire’s Senior Senator respond?

While other Democrat Senators up for re-election in 2014 take a step back from Obama’s unconstitutional pronouncements of his right to rule as a despot, Senator Jeanne Shaheen’s “response” to the State of the Union reads like a Carol-Shea Porter response letter to your concerns about, say, Benghazi.

Until today, I had no idea that Speaker of the NH House of Representatives Teri Norelli had a communications specialist.  Truth be told, I suppose I hadn’t really bothered to think about until this afternoon when a young man decided to lean over my shoulder while I was talking to a House committee secretary.

After being advised by House Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee Chair Ed Butler, D, Carroll District 7, that the executive session on HB 1589 – Universal Background Checks – was being cancelled because an amendment was being offered, he told the assembled +25 opponents to the bill that if they left their contact details with the committee, each would get a copy of the amendment as soon as it was made available.  He also told the assembled group “sorry to have taken you away from your communities” but all were invited to attend a subcommittee meeting that would be held this coming Thursday at some to be announced time.  [The “good news” was that those of us who oppose the bill will have another opportunity to speak during the Thursday subcommittee hearing.]

I left the committee room and went into the committee secretary’s office to leave my contact details with her but was interrupted by a young man clutching his iPad to his chest telling the secretary “I got this…”

Like I said:  DCE’s (Weekend Pundit)  “Thoughts on a Sunday” is a mandatory read for me every week; this week was one of his best.  Next – he does a riff on what Tom Perkins said that today’s 1% are the new Jews facing a Kristallnact, given all of the class warfare that Obama, Occupy Wall Street, and others attacking them for their success – as if they had stolen it from the “less fortunate”.  DCE picks up on THE defining word (emphasis mine):

Writing from the epicenter of progressive thought, San Francisco, I would call attention to the parallels of fascist Nazi Germany to its war on its “one percent,” namely its Jews, to the progressive war on the American one percent, namely the “rich.”

This is a very dangerous drift in our American thinking. Kristallnacht was unthinkable in 1930; is its descendent “progressive” radicalism unthinkable now?

I have come to redefine the term “Progressive” to mean “totalitarian”. After all, so many of them are pushing for a totalitarian state where everyone except them will have to submit to the will of The State. Oh, they won’t come right out and say it, but when you take all of the programs, propaganda, and push towards ever more restrictive laws that make everyone a criminal, it all leads to one outcome: destruction of freedom and a complete takeover of everyone’s lives by a self-proclaimed elite.
