You’d be right to wonder what the differences are between the kidnapping and execution of James Foley and the kidnapping and release of Peter Theo Curtis.

Curtis is a reporter from Boston, whose recent release was reported in Germany as having been in exchange for something.  Victory Girls has the report as well as a list of questions.

• Are they connected to ISIS?

• Was it a negotiation, as reported by die Welt am Sonntag, or a rescue?

• If it was a negotiation, what did the kidnappers receive in return?

Sometimes, you just can’t make this up – the $2.2 Billion solar electrical plant, station Ivanpah (which needed Federal Govt to waive lots of regulations to get built out there in the Mojave desert) has been in the news for incinerating birds in flight due to it’s process of highly concentrating the sun’s rays to fire a boiler to run the turbines.  That would be up to 800 degrees F hot.  They call those birds “streamers” – is that ecologically sustainable in killing the local flying fauna?  I think that’s the Left hand dope slap to the Green Environ-wackos that believe we can only be “sustainable” by using solar instead of fossil fuels…oh wait!

The Union leader is reporting a complaint filed against the Hemingway campaign.  Some names were omitted on their campaign finance report and a local attorney has asked the AG to investigate.

The complaint has been filed by Sheridan T. Brown, a local “government and public affairs” attorney whose full time occupation prior to 2010 (for the better part of a decade) was working for John E. Sununu.   Since that time he has worked proudly to “[intercede] on behalf of entities and individuals to resolve problems with government agencies, [and] has helped secure millions of dollars in funding for community projects.”

Sounds to me like he has brokered his experience in big government and his connections to the Sununu’s and their backers, to tap into the taxpayer funded ATM machine.  Lobbyist?  He’s also got a soft spot for green projects.

But I digress.  These are insignificant matters compared to the test of character we’ve been handed by this Sununu flunky doing his impression of Democrat Kathy Sullivan.

But your thinking it is.

Progressives denigrate those of us that stand on the Second Amendment by pompously saying “You don’t need that”.  The State will protect you, they say.  We are an Enlightened Society, they say.  We have Progressed past that, they say. The other “tell” from these folks, in trying to defend the notion that their outlook and world view should be yours is “I don’t know anyone that has / does…“.

Sidenote: whenever someone starts talking that way about individual freedoms that pre-date the Constitution, like the right to self-defense, you know that they are a Big Government enabler and nascent totalitarian – what you have or what you want posses (or even to speak) is none of their damn business (as opposed to the ’68 Camaro that TMEW says I don’t need)

Problem is that when they use the force of government to enforce that outlook on everyone, it shows their contempt for basic American political philosophy – and a handle on basic human frailties and nature of fallen Man.  This, in part, from Repair_Man_Jack at RedState (emphasis mine):

After almost [deleted] years on the job I find this disheartening but a necessary fact to survive in today’s, what appears to most officers, an ANTI-POLICE environment. We are even being told by some supervisors to keep a low profile so “you’re not next on the front page”! I became a police officer to help people [deleted] years ago in P.G. On ISIS, the Putter in Chief’s caddy says (all emphasis throughout is mine):

“We haven’t made a decision to take additional actions at this time, but we truly don’t rule out additional action against ISIL if it becomes warranted,” Ben Rhodes, a senior Obama aide, told National Public Radio earlier on Thursday, using another name for Islamic State.

The “if” is troubling when one considers the following different views on this particular fairway.  They imply more immediate attention is warranted given its engulfing “imminent threat” hazard and that it dog-legs towards an “apocalyptic, end-of- days strategic vision”.

Citizens for A Strong New Hampshire got an answer from the Internal Revenue Service on a Freedom of Information Request they made.  Sorry, we can’t comply with the law.  If you don’t want to wait (indefinitely?), you can just sue us.

August 21, 2014 (Manchester, NH) – On July 23^rd, the Internal Revenue Service responded to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request made by Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire on June 24, 2014. The request was issued based on the IRS’s supposed lost emails on their irrevocably damaged computers.

In the letter, the IRS writes that they will not be able comply with our request in the ‘20 business-day period’ as required by law. Also, they extend the response period for an additional 10 days, as allowed by statute. What’s even worse, the letter continues stating the need for even more time and illegally extends that period until October 23, 2014. It then goes on to inform us that we can file suit after August 6, 2014.

Which is no big deal unless you don’t happen to have your own money printing machine in the basement and the power to destroy anyone who dares challenge you….

As the New Hampshire primary election draws ever closer, the level of desperation in the Lambert camp is escalating wildly. Internal polling data from his primary rival, Marilinda Garcia, has Lambert down by 23 points, as reported by WMUR.

The poll, conducted by Magellan Strategies, surveyed 800 likely voters in the upcoming primary using personal interviewer calls to landlines only. Notably, with the exclusion of cellular phones, it is quite possible that younger voters were under sampled. This is a bloc of voters who appear more supportive of Garcia, and that could actually increase the margin by which Lambert trails the 31 year-old, four-term state representative from Salem.
