Trouble Ahead…Administration has Its Head in the Sand

In 2008, then-candidate Barack Obama told the San Francisco Chronicle that his cap-and-trade proposal to control greenhouse gas emissions would mean higher energy prices for Americans.

“Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket,” Obama said.

As president, Obama never got his cap-and-trade proposal through Congress. Instead, Obama has been using the Environmental Protection Agency to achieve his energy policy goals. And this winter, New Englanders will bear the brunt of Obama’s skyrocketing electricity rates.

It turns out that as vice president, Cheney was the driving force behind more funding for the National Institutes of Health that helped lead to the development of Ebola vaccines being tested today.

I’m one of those people who has had health insurance for the majority of my life.  I’m an insurance-type person.  I’m one of those people who believe in being covered for the ‘what ifs’.  Heck I even have pet insurance for my bulldogs!

Even on older vehicles I get the maximum coverage of insurance and I purchased extra cancer insurance since it runs in my family.  I have auto insurance, home insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, extra coverage for health insurance, vision insurance, pet insurance and sometimes travel insurance!

I’m a firm believer in insurance but all of the above are optional and none were MANDATED in New Hampshire until Shaheen and Shea-Porter decided to vote for Obamacare AGAINST the wishes of the majority.  All hell broke loose once it was actually implemented:  People in NH lost the health insurance plans they liked; they lost doctors they liked and they lost the hospitals they actually lived near.

Those who didn’t lose their plans saw premiums rise; deductibles rise; Out-of-Pocket maximums rise by the thousands all while it cost more for services!  I used to pay co-pays for physical therapy, NOW if I need PT I have to pay in full until I reach my deductible.  How in the hell is that affordable?  There are many, many,  many other stories like this.

Heard this line last night that speaks to this “I’m a Duck Dynasty values family forced to live in a Molly Cyrus World“; what used to be good and valued is denigrated and replaced.  What was good is now bad, what was bad is now celebrated.  Holding onto traditional values used to be a virtue – now it enrages others (e.g., like not bowing down to the militant gay movement that is trying to force approval upon all) to cause you to lose your job and be unable to support your family.

In this, the GOP Leadership and Elites are, once again, to prove they wish the GOP to be the Stupid Party as it runs away from the veritable storm now roiling the American culture and merely mouth “Fiscal policies only!”  Attitudes and mores form the foundation for politics and the GOP Elite cannot bring themselves to confront the truth that “Social issues determine fiscal policies”.  All one has to do is look at the push by Progressives to have single women with children adopt the (really bad) idea that they do not need a husband – Government can support them.  And that turns into Welfare – and how is the massive financial transfers (about $1 Trillion / year, all programs, all told) NOT a fiscal issue????

Indeed!  And one more thing that Obama will do via Executive Order (via the Federal Sustainable Communities Initiative by the Federal Depts of  HUD / EPA / DOT) is take over all local zoning.  We’ve been sounding this alarm for years now, as the Feds have been funneling $$$$ into NH via the nine Regional Planning Commissions that are not accountable to ANY one and they have been setting the stage for this.  Once we in the grassroots discovered this, those folks (like the good Progressives they are) decided to jump on the bandwagon and have demonized the grassroots as “tin hat extremists” (a la “nobodys coming to take your guns).  So this came as no surprise as Obama really doesn’t care who controls the House or the Senate – Congress has already given him enough power to do what he wants in “fundamentally transforming” America – and he knows they don’t have the cojones to stop him (reformatted, emphasis mine):

The Shaheen’s are HUGE Clinton family values fans.  They were all-in for Hillary in 2008 when Clinton Campaign co-chair Bill “We vote like a village”  Shaheen took a hit for the party by making generalizations about Barack Obama and his relationship with illegal drugs.  (Racist of him, right?)

And now Hillary (Mrs. Bill “Hide he Bimbo Eruptions”) Clinton is out walking the per-campaign ropes, working the salted earth Obama has left in his wake, for signs of a presidential life. Given past and current associations, and likely future full-throated support, it seems only proper (and necessary) for New Hampshire business owners to ask Jeanne Shaheen if she agrees with Mrs Clinton…

Business owners and corporations in New Hampshire, do you create jobs?

There is a growing sense in the country that America is in decline. It is not a slow, prolonged deterioration stemming from some inherent defect, but rather a sudden precipitous fall, pointing to a failure in leadership. In fact, a solid majority of Americans now question this President’s leadership.

Perhaps early on, we might not have known about Obama’s character flaws – his indecisiveness, his duplicity, his petulance and boundless arrogance. We could not have known about the many scandals that were to come. But even before his first election, we should have known that we knew nothing about the man’s character.

Those character deficits, along with Obama’s determination to put his agenda before our national security, explain the scandals.

As in “we’re all in this together”.  Voluntarily being part of a group is one thing if it is voluntary but Progressives / Socialists / Collectivists brook no dissent – you WILL be made to be all in (with them in charge).  This article at Bearing Arms lays out the contradiction that is tearing apart the American polity as these two philosophies are diametrically opposed.  There CAN BE NO COMPROMISE between the two.  While Individualists are fine with anyone who just wants to be left alone, Collectivists DEMAND that this cannot be allowed to happen (reformatted, emphasis mine).  The story is of a father who carries and a mom who demands that only the State has the ability for violence (reformatted, emphasis mine):

At a very fundamental level, individualists and collectivists see the world in a very different way.

Individuals look at a problem or issue and think, “what can I do about it?”

Collectivists look at a problem and think, “what can I do to get someone else to do about this?”

And that is the major difference between those of us

On the surface it is a paradox that the Democrat Party, which claims that it is the party for women, minorities, young people, and whatever other group it can conceivably define as aggrieved, invariably harms each of them.  So after years of pandering and false claims of racism and wars on women, under Democrat control in Washington and Concord, labor force participation for women is at more than a 30 year low under the Obama Adminstration. Unemployment among black Americans, especially among young people, as well as their rates of poverty, are at levels not seen since the Great Depression.

In Concord, we have listened to this rhetoric for three of the last four legislative terms and it has always lead to more spending.  And it is in that fact – the growth of Government generated by ever increasing spending by Democrats – that lays the solution to this paradox in New Hampshire.  When government grows, the economy stagnates and it is the most vulnerable among us- the young, minorities, the historically disadvantaged, who suffer first, suffer the most and suffer the longest when the economy isn’t growing.
