CNN Reports:  “The Justice Department has formally closed its investigation of Ferguson Police officer Darren Wilson, declining to bring criminal charges for the killing of Michael Brown. In a report released Wednesday, prosecutors said that “Wilson’s actions do not constitute prosecutable violations” of federal civil rights law.”

This ends almost seven months of waiting and wondering what the Justice Department would do, what they might trump up.  Hopefully this finally ends Officer Wilson’s ordeal, the Missouri Grand Jury declined to prosecute months ago as every credible witness and the evidence supported Officer Wilson’s description of the sad event.

Thomas Jefferson’s Memorial has this as one of its inscriptions:

“God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever.”

“Gift of God” – THE anchor point from which our Rights flow.  Not from Man and not from some collective.  Sure, it was a collection of men that wrote the words but they believed, too. They acknowledged that there is a Higher Power from whom our freedom and our liberty flows from.  They wanted to establish that with this fact, who was Man to take them away from the then (and I guess now, given the collectivism we are being dragged into) radicalism that we were not to be subservient to a government – it was to be subservient to we sovereign citizens.  This was one of our foundational values of our Republic as it buttresses their philosophy that it was no longer Kings that had divine right, it was each and every one of us that were sovereign before God and Nature’s God – a singular path to an absolute truth and to which Totalitarians, Communists, and Socialists rail against as they believe Man should serve The State. Think I’m wrong?

Deja vu all over again; I thought he might have learned from his involuntary pause in Congressional employment (due in no small measure to his failure to keep his promise to his supporters to do EVERYthing he could to cut Federal Government spending – and then promptly voted for two successful Continuing Resolutions that HIKED spending), but I guess not.  Advance to the NOW – the Main Responsibility of anyone one elected to Congress is:

 I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

So, did he do so, support, defend, bear truth faith, and allegiance?  Ok, can we just try defend – with his vote?

I still can’t believe it’s (not) ‘Not Weed’

Jordan Meier was traveling with three passengers around 9 PM when a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office deputy pulled over his 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo on a Lincoln street for a traffic violation, according to a police report.

Meier was subsequently “placed into custody for DUI,” investigators noted.

During a post-arrest inventory search of Meier’s vehicle, cops located a 16-ounce plastic container (which once held Land O’Lakes sour cream) under the front passenger seat.

House Bill 636 would change the state’s civil forfeiture law to require a person to be convicted before the state could initiate forfeiture proceedings against a suspect. That strikes us as reasonable.

In fact, allowing law enforcement to seize property without a criminal conviction – or even a criminal charge – is an affront to the constitutional principle that people are innocent until proven guilty.

Someone should ask New Hampshire congresswoman Ann Kuster if she agrees with the tactics of her Democrat colleague,  Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-Arizona.  Rep. Grijalva sent a letter to 7 Universities in what can only be called an act of Climate McCarthyism.

The letter demands detailed financial information so that Rep Grijalva can examine it.  He would like to explain away unfavorable research results as the product of funding-bias.

“I write today because of concerns raised in a recent New York Times report,” Grijalva said in the letters, “and documents I have received that highlight potential conflicts of interest and failure to disclose corporate funding sources in academic climate research.”

You know what is really REALLY funny about this?  Remember when the left, including all those New Hampshire Democrats (who love them some Clinton) were crying in 2010 (all the time actually) about money coming in from outside the country?  You remember that?  During all of that “outrage” Hillary Clinton and the Clinton foundation were accepting millions in donations from not just outside the country but other countries governments–AND…because Hillary Clinton was using private email we may never be able to tell if or how often she solicited those donations while fundraising as the Secretary of State.

This famous cinematic quote suits the moment as the Concord Monitor, the pragmatic-socialist New Hampshire “paper-of-record,” finds itself on the receiving end of progressive-bureaucrat obfuscation.

In the movie, Morpheus has pulled the wool of the Matrix from Neo’s eyes.  The modern world as he knows it does not exist.  In reality it is a barren waste.  He is nothing more than a battery powering a machine.  This is an apt metaphor for the Monitor which toes the pragmatic-socialist line with enthusiasm, and will continue to do so, but for this sliver in time it has made a reasonable request of Democrat Governor Hassan and her administration has chosen to treat them like the rest of the peasants.

Vassals of the Feifdoms…oh how they love to rule and oh how we love to let them! Periodically, we hear the din of those who gleefully point out that New Hampshire is not very homogenous. People move here from Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Rhode Island to  flee the thumb of state and local governments, frequently viewed as rife with the corruption of ineffectual politics. Then…they run for office. The problem is they bring with them an “ala carte” cherry-picking of the crappy politics from which they escaped…here to the Granite State.
