“Never let a crisis go to waste” and certainly we are already seeing that coming out of the Baltimore riots (emphasis mine):
As noted here parenthetically, the president of the Baltimore City Council, Jack Young, apologized a day after calling the looters in his city “thugs,” suggesting that “misdirected youth” was a more appropriate label.
Yeah, once again we can’t call things the way they really are – the euphemism marketplace’s stock price has soared as the Political Correctness (aka, Cultural Marxism) industry has worked overtime to take words (and thus, the ideas and things they stand for) out of usage. Consider it the slow moving thought police. I don’t care what color you are, if you act like a thug, you’re a thug. If you act in ways counter to The Rule of Law, you’re a criminal and not “socially maladjusted”.
Sidenote: have you ever noticed that Political Correctness always seems to want to replace plain one or two syllable words with phrases with lots of syllables? It’s like they go out of their way to cover over and sugar coat bad behavior and decisions with a bucket of letters so as to obfuscate the actual thing.
Fortunately the author of the post is having none of it and shows a bit of reality – and pushback:

This is a most disturbing (emphasis mine):
A Houston-based federal judge ruled that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration does not owe the owner of a small Texas trucking company anything, not even the cost of repairing the bullet holes to a tractor-trailer truck that the agency used without his permission for a wild 2011 drug cartel sting that resulted in the execution-style murder of the truck’s driver, who was secretly working as a government informant…“She [the judge] is basically saying you can’t sue the feds,” he said by phone.

Greg Kline from Red Maryland is going to join us tomorrow on GrokTALK! to discuss the Baltimore riots. I was doing some reading in preparation for that interview and came across an article by another contributor at Red Maryland, Brian Griffiths. In the course of questioning the city’s failure to address issues of poverty, he observes that while there was plenty of investment in Baltimore, it was all very much one-sided.
Huge economic development projects, whether you are a fan or not, were focused away from the places that actually needed the most help.
Maryland is a small state so Baltimore looms large. New Hampshire doesn’t have a Baltimore but we do have those who fancy bonds for private ventures.

Yesterday Senate Bill 116 aka ‘Constitutional Carry’ was passed in the New Hampshire House by a vote of 212-150. Even though this bill was passed by both the Senate and house, Governor Hassan said she will vote against the will of the people and veto it. In her statement she states “citizens across New Hampshire, have strong public safety concerns about allowing people to carry concealed guns without a license.” Which leads one to believe she has read a bogus poll that recently came out.
