Patriots Grumble Thread – Week 1

2015_NFL_Schedule_Patriots_Steelers_Opening_Line

The Pajama-boy Steelers came to Foxboro last night and beat themselves. Don’t let anyone tell you any different.

In the middle of a drive where every play netted the Steelers a first down or more they insert a trick play that cost them yards, and momentum. (Headsets or not they got that one in there, didn’t they?) A few more bone-head moves later and they missed a field-goal.

Rinse, lather, repeat.

September Didn’t Used To Be This Hot….Actually, It Was Hotter!

According to people paid to promote man-made climate chaos theory September did’t used to be this hot. Actually, September used to be hotter, and more often. The period from 1920-1950 had more hot Septembers in the US and more September heat waves (with consecutive days over 100 degrees), with smaller urban heat-islands than we have today.  Nothing in the 21st century comes close.

9/11 Fourteenth remembrance – “God Bless the USA”

I think it appropriate on this day, the 14th year anniversary of being attacked by Islamic Jihadists.  Have we learned from this event?  What have we learned?  Or is it safe to say, on this day where we honor that whose lives were taken by murderers who brook no dissent from Koranic teachings, perhaps not, given that our President and the Democrat Party have just agreed to an agreement that will allow hundreds of billions of dollars to now flow to Iran – a country that is ruled by Islamic radical mullahs who are the largest sponsors of worldwide terrorism.

You Can’t Separate Labor Force Participation From The Unemployment Rate

Unemployment

America’s national unemployment rate is 5.1 percent. The country added 173,000 jobs in August. The press is trumpeting our economic success. Happy days are here again, or are they?

A record 94,031,000 people have left the US work force. But 5.1 percent unemployment, you croon. Sure, it sounds great if you have a job or if your job is to croon about low unemployment, but to 94 million Americans that number is a lie.

The work force or labor participation rate and the unemployment rate are intimately connected and the former is far more telling than the latter. We see this in the unemployment numbers in New Hampshire from July of 2014 to July of 2015.

“Planned Parenthood really does these horrifying things – and makes money at it, and laughs about it over lunch.”

“You only have to watch the videos for five minutes, and you know it’s true. The subjects of the videos are sincere and candid – casually sharing the secrets of their grisly business with people they think are co-conspirators. The evidence points to only one conclusion: Planned Parenthood really does these horrifying things – and … Read more

Bound by grief…with bullets

Today, CNN’s lead story is entitled the “Loneliest Club”. The article introduces us to a new activist group called “Everytown for Gun Safety”, described by the authors as “Americans bound by grief. From bullets.” Each club member has lost a loved one to what they are calling gun violence; the most recent member is the father of the newswoman killed on-air last month by a mentally ill former co-worker.

Of the eight featured stories in this article, six of the murders were committed by mentally ill individuals. Three quarters of these horrible tragedies were perpetrated by sick people! The two other murders were committed by individuals who acted against laws that were already on the books. Criminals, in other words.

Blogline of the Day: who trusts ya, baby?

The president doesn’t trust you and he doesn’t trust us. He doesn’t trust Americans to even change our own light bulb of our own choosing. And yet he’ll trust a death cult.” -Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska (H/T: CNSNews) Bonus from Breitbart: “So as Obama leads from behind the skirt of his right-hand man, … Read more

Hmm, and where would this be in the Constitution?

school lunch- that no one is eating? And why aren’t the DC Republicans all over this?  Calling Frank Guinta!  Calling Kelly Ayotte!  As self-described conservatives, is this a proper role for the Federal Government – to feed the nation’s kids 3 squares every day for every day of the year? Emphasis mine, reformatted.  Question for both Frank and Kelly at the end:

Federal Government Looking to Feed Public School Students 3 Meals Per Day Year Round

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said on Tuesday that his agency is looking for “creative ways” to give public school students access to more meals, including a way to provide them breakfast, lunch and dinner year round.

Hmm, do I smell a bit of an overreach starting to build?

Ah! Someone is getting the idea that you can have Open Border and a big Welfare State – but not at the same time

From Instapundit: how to stop Hijrah

F YOU DON’T WANT THEM TO COME, JUST LIMIT WELFARE BENEFITS TO CITIZENS: Denmark Places Anti-Refugee Ads in Lebanese Newspapers. But that’s not too far off:

The plain text flyer continued by informing readers that the Danish Parliament has just passed a regulation to reduce social benefits for newly arrived refugees by up to 50 percent. It then listed six other obstacles refugees would face, including a language requirement to obtain permanent residence and a waiting period of at least five years.

In addition, the ad informs readers that “foreign nationals granted temporary protection in Denmark will not have the right to bring family members to Denmark during the first year.”

There’s lots I wish to comment on the topic of what I consider to be a

Gun Laws – Senator Kaine proves he either doesn’t or can’t do his homework

The current Law:

  1. A legal FFL (e.g. gun shop) must have all buyers fill out a Form 4473 which asks if that person is legally able to purchase the firearm. If a purchaser marks that they are a prohibited person, the FFL is not to sell the firearm under Federal Penalty of REALLY REALLY bad outcomes.
  2. A legal FFL must also put the buyer through the Federal NICS system which is supposed to tell the seller if the purchaser is ineligible to do so.  Yes, consider “screwed” to the FFL to continue the sal.
  3. A private seller, under Federal penalty, cannot sell to someone that they know is ineligible to legally posses a firearm – up to 10 years in the klink if you do so.

So, what does Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) do?  In the light of the recent murder of Gov. Cuomo (D-NY)’s lawyer at a NYC festival, he decides to create a bill that:

  • Makes it illegal for an FFL to knowingly sell a firearm to a prohibited person
  • Make it illegal for a private citizen to sell a firearm to a prohibited person

Yes, you read that right. Obviously, this esteemed lawMAKER of ours:

Humor – Location, location, location

Heh!

You may have heard on the news about a Southern California man who was put under 72-hour psychiatric observation when it was found he owned 100 guns and allegedly had 100,000 rounds of ammunition stored in his home [not shown]. The house also featured a secret escape tunnel. By Southern California standards, someone owning 100,000 rounds is considered “mentally unstable.”

  • In Arizona, he’d be called “an avid gun collector.”
  • In Arkansas, he’d be called “a novice gun collector.”
  • In Utah, he’d be called “moderately well prepared,” but they’d probably reserve judgment until they made sure that he had a corresponding quantity of stored food.”
