Transgender Jailhouse Rock

prison-01

Kaitlin Jenner is a guy who is sexually attracted to women, but likes to play dress-up and pretend to be a woman. Whatever. But if you are the relative of a female (from birth) family member sent to jail do you want someone like that milling about in the general population at the women’s prison? That’s the plan in San Francisco, where,

county jails will be among the first in the nation to house transgender inmates by their gender preference, Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi said Thursday.

The problem is fairness.

“In many prisons and jails around the country, protection today currently consists of isolation. That’s not protection. That’s additional punishment,” Silverman said. “It can’t be the case that transgender prisoners are isolated from other human beings for the vast amount of time they spend in jail under the guise of protecting them.”

Here’s an idea. They are criminals, in prison. Isolate them all from each other. Limit human contact to whomever is tasked with to so-called act of criminal rehabilitation. No entertainment. No weight rooms. Everyone sits and waits, and waits, no matter what their gender preference.

Now, that is fair.
