At a time when we seem to be devolving to Govt control over all things…

After all, we see the Obama Government inserting itself into as many nooks and crannies as it can, when we see the two Democrat Prez front runners equally willing to take that stand of Obama and juice with a 55 gallon drum full of steroid to dragoon the US into deeper and deeper levels of socialism where nothing allowed unless it is planned (yet, they call it “solidarity” in cooperation). Instead of cooperation, it is co-opted coercion.  The Left refuses to understand that free markets, on the other hand, are the HEIGHT of cooperation with order coming out of chaos and all decisions are decentralized over billions of transactions.  Socialism imposes its will into its people; with free markets, people infuse it with voluntary cooperation.  Professor Don Boudreaux has a great post on this:

It’s one thing to conclude that markets are immoral after learning how markets work and what life would be like in their absence.  Such a conclusion is intellectually defensible because it would reflect an informed – if, in my view, bizarre – value judgment.  But the conclusion that markets are immoral typically reflects – as it surely does in the case of Pope Francis – utter ignorance of the logic and history of markets (and of the logic and history of governments). Markets are deeply moral, for they, compared to all feasible alternatives, –

  • are driven by voluntary choices rather than by diktats;
  • concentrate the costs and the benefits of each choice as closely as possible on the individual who makes that choice;
  • allow for great diversity of choices and life-styles;

I guess Trump was right – no “investment” in a politician that is showing no future ROI

money-pit-vortexTrump has been saying that he paid both R and D politicians because they’d do things for or on his behalf – simply a cost of doing business.  Seems like there’s a whole lot of folks that are now saying that investing in one particular politician is a fool’s investment – and they ain’t fools (emphasis mine):

More bad news for the Clintons. With Hillary’s presidential campaign slipping in the polls against Sen. Bernie Sanders and facing a potential fresh challenge from Vice President Joe Biden, six giants of the corporate world are bailing out on the Clinton Global Initiative.

Fred Willard played “dumb” characters – and hasn’t shaken my faith in that.

CNN asked a number of celebrities what questions they would ask the Republicans in this past Wednesday’s Republican Debate.  Out of the 25 picked, only 7 or 8 would vote for a Republican.  The last one on the page was Fred and his short answer told me all I needed to know about his politics:

“President Ronald Reagan said, ‘Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!’ Why would the U.S. build one?”

as well as his knowledge of basic history – after all, his age says he should know why

Regrets much, huh? Next time…

Obama Nobel prize…give out the Nobel Prize for, you know, actual and world class achievement award instead of as little more than a “everyone wins a trophy!”:

Nobel panel saw Obama peace prize as ‘mistake,’ new book claims

The former director of Norway’s Nobel Institute revealed this week that he regrets the committee’s decision to give the 2009 Nobel Peace award to President Obama.

Geil Lundestad, director at the institute for 25 years, said in his just-published memoir that he and the committee had unanimously decided to grant the award to Mr. Obama just after his election in 2009 more in hopes of aiding the American president to achieve his goals on nuclear disarmament, rather than in recognition of what Mr. Obama had already accomplished.

Nuclear disarmament – ’bout the only folks that got disarmed so far

And you wonder why the MSM always is finding fault with USA?

Journalists not standing during National Anthem at GOP DebateThis image from Big Government.  I almost don’t have to say a word, do I? Just a little handful standing to show respect.  And make no mistake, it is totally about respect.

Or the lack thereof.  I can understand if technical crews are working during it – I’ve had to adjust and calibrate stuff when livestreaming at an event during our National Anthem, but print journalists?  Before the event gets wound up?

Like the Democrats with bylines they are,

Last night’s GOP Debate – long, long, too long

3 hours worth for the “adult table” with 11 Prez Wannabees with a liberal moderator that often seem more intent in starting squabbles on stage than actually asking questions that conservatives want to hear on this issues was almost too much even for me. No, no posting here but I did do a lot of tweeting / retweeting of others.  While I prefer to do long form writing, but can do short when I concentrate, 140 characters encapsulating a single thought is a much better medium to capture events like a debate.  And this time, I spent ALMOST as much time watching other peoples’ impressions as I was watching the debate myself.  You can see them here at our Twitter feed, @GraniteGrok (along with tweets announcing our latest posts).

Back to a quick take on the stewardship of GOP debates.

Blogline of the Day – “lose the primary to win the general”?

THE NIGHT BEFORE: HOBNOBBING WITH JEB: “It’s clear — he said as much — that he is itching to run against Hillary Clinton,” Roger Simon writes of his first meeting with the former Florida governor.

If only Jeb didn’t seem even more eager to run against the GOP base first, he might be better positioned for his wish to be granted.

That would be “we have to start campaigning in a way that is beyond the base“. Is it not hubris to ignore your built in base of voters – and then with a “wave of hand” dismissal of them entirely?  Hubris –

Will Gaystapo Make an Example of Oregon Judge

Gay FascismWhat gay activists and their water-carriers get wrong almost every time is that where there is no monopoly on a product or service their attacks on conscientious objectors is not a battle for tolerance it is an exercise in intolerance. Embrace their worldview or be destroyed, personally, professionally, publicly.

Bakers, photographers, florists, and now judges.

The Oregon Commission on Judicial Fitness and Disability will hold hearings in November concerning the case of Marion County Circuit Court Judge Vance Day, who has been refusing to perform same sex-marriages.

NH Liquor Commission Bans Powdered Alcohol

NHLC
Not a fan of banning things, nor of bureaucrats banning them without the legislature involved, but here we go…

New Hampshire Liquor Commission
NHLC joins 25 other states in banning powdered alcohol due to concerns over misuse and underage consumption of alcohol.

CONCORD – Citing the strong. possibility for underage consumption of alcohol, along with potential liability issues for restaurant and lounge owners, the New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) has issued an order banning the sale of powdered alcohol in New Hampshire and preventing the product from being shipped into the state.

Starting in 2016 NH Drivers License No Longer Acceptable ID to get on a Domestic Flight

TSA-Uniform

The Democrat-majority NH Legislature passed (House 268-8 Senate 24-0*), and Governor Lynch signed a bill blocking REAL ID in New Hampshire circa 2007. Now, the Feds say REAL ID Rules  mean a NH Drivers License is no longer an acceptable form of ID to board a domestic flight. But that was part of the plan with Real ID. This is merely the last phase. So where do we stand?

Early this year an effort was made to address the deadline but a bi-partisan committee in the NH Senate killed a bill to address the requirements.
