I read Powerline almost every day and on Fridays there is a post from Ammo Grrrll.  Usually a satirical post about something, I may not always LOL but I do oft smile at both the topic and how she treats it.  This one, however, wasn’t all that funny and cast a serious light as to why our stagnant and inertia bound education system fails – and refuses to see itself failing.  It’s not anything that I haven’t said or written previously; she just does a better job (emphasis mine):

Year after year here in our Dusty Little Village (DLV), the education establishment puts an initiative on the ballot to increase property taxes for schools. For eight years and counting, it has failed. It will fail again.

Most of us Geezer-Americans have scant interest in donating even more to educate half of Mexico or to fund all the Diversity Drones and special programs whose gentle ministrations crank out the annual crop of psychotic ninnies infesting our colleges.

Absolutely gobsmacking!  Here ARE the Elites-in-waiting at one of the most prestigious school in the world and here in America.  One would expect that these wonderkids would “get” our history, given how many Presidents, Congresscritters, and Supremes (and others in lofty places in American society) it has graduated.

The New York Post Headline put it this way. “Students at Lena Dunham’s college offended by lack of fried chicken.”

Students at an ultra-liberal Ohio college are in an uproar over the fried chicken, sushi and Vietnamese sandwiches served in the school cafeterias, complaining the dishes are “insensitive” and “culturally inappropriate.”

Gastronomically correct students at Oberlin College — alma mater of Lena Dunham — are filling the school newspaper with complaints and demanding meetings with campus dining officials and even the college president.

Western Journalism.com is reporting on a White House cover up related to the recent terrorist attack in San Bernadino.

On Thursday, a whistleblower came forward. Phillip Haney, a former Department of Homeland Security investigator, says he could have likely prevented the attacks in San Bernardino if the government had let him do his job. Three years ago, Haney had developed surveillance that revealed a global network of jihadists had infiltrated the United States.

The Boston Herald has a New Hampshire primary poll out this morning (post-debate). Trump 26, Cruz 12, Rubio 12, Christie 11, Bush 10,  Kasich 8, Fiorina 6, Carson 5, Paul 3, …

Observations on the NH numbers: Fiorina and Carson continue to slide while Donald Trump maintains a stranglehold on first.  The next position is a statistical tie in New Hampshire but as of this writing only Cruz, Trump, and Rubio stand to find some separation as a result of a bump coming out of Iowa.

SeacoastOnline is reporting that Exeter High School will no longer hold dances. Why? Students were engaged in sexually suggestive grinding on the dance floor. Alcohol or drug use were also cited as issues but the thrust of the problem appears to be dirty dancing.

This is unfortunate for the kids who just wanted to dress up a bit, go to a dance, and be social, in person, in an A-social, plugged-in, digital world. The school, in their infinite wisdom, has chosen to abandon the practice rather than define and enforce matters of etiquette.

But what if this is the proper etiquette thanks to years of what passes for a modern public school education at SAU 16?

On Tuesday, The Mises Institute reported on a study from Pew Research that looked at the homicide rate in the United States. Ironically this report comes out the day after out-of-state gun control lobbyist Mark Kelly was in New Hampshire pushing for more gun control laws.

The study looked at the homicide rate in the United States and finds that the homicide rate has increasingly fallen. New Hampshire’s homicide rate is incredibly low. From Mises:

In New Hampshire, the homicide rate in 2014 was 0.9 homicides per 100,000, making New Hampshire in 2014 one of the safest places (in terms of homicide) on planet earth.

Where Do You Go To Challenge Illegal Government Decisions When The Courts Close You Out?

China and Russia have an approach to government responsibility that places the powers of government above and over the people.  Our system is the reverse.  Our 1784 Bill of Rights in Part I, Article 8 clearly says the following:

All power residing originally in, and being derived from, the people, all the magistrates and officers of government are their substitutes and agents, and at all times accountable to them.

Unfortunately, that right of accountability has been denied time and time again in recent years by court decisions making government less and less accountable to our individual citizens by closing the courthouses to taxpayers.
