Another reminder of why the base hates the DC Republicans

Remember that $1.1 Trillion “omnibus” appropriation bill (necessary because the Congressional Republican Majorities did not do the One Job they are supposed to do)?  Given the R Prez Follies in hard play here in NH, there is this on the most contentious issue: who is going to stop Obama  or his policies?  So far, not … Read more

Has Shale Oil Technology Changed the World?

US Shale oil and gas map

Imagine a world where war or turmoil in oil producing nations has little to no effect on the price? Is that world today? (Emphasis mine.)

Even as the U.S. rig count has retreated like Napoleon from Russia, shale remains the key to understanding the global oil landscape. Consider that despite all of the turmoil in key oil-producing regions, namely the Middle East, oil prices have not spiked.

Martin Luther King on Marxism / Communism / Socialism / Progressivism

Martin Luther King Jr.For in the end, they are pretty much aligned to the same end – The Bigger the Citizen, the smaller the citizen (emphasis mine):

During the Christmas holidays of 1949 I decided to spend my spare time reading Karl Marx to try to understand the appeal of communism for many people. For the first time I carefully scrutinized Das Kapital and The Communist Manifesto. I also read some interpretative works on the thinking of Marx and Lenin. In reading such Communist writings I drew certain conclusions that have remained with me as convictions to this day. First, I rejected their materialistic interpretation of history. Communism, avowedly secularistic and materialistic, has no place for God. This I could never accept, for as a Christian, I believe that there is a creative personal power in the universe who is the ground and essence of all reality-a power that cannot be explained in materialistic terms. History is ultimately guided by spirit, not matter. Second, I strongly disagreed with communism’s ethical relativism. Since for the Communist there is no divine government, no absolute moral order, there are no fixed, immutable principles; consequently almost anything-force, violence murder, lying-is a justifiable means to the ‘millennial’ end. This type of relativism was abhorrent to me. Constructive ends can never give absolute moral justification to destructive means, because in the final analysis the end is preexistent in the means.

#StandWithMesa on Saving Hampstead from Unnecessary Bonds and Spending

There’s a new hashtag you can use to help support Jorge Mesa-Tejada. #StandWithMesa And you should stand with him. Jorge knows what he is talking about. That slick campaign to put Hampstead taxpayers on the hook for a huge ten-year bond is irresponsible and unnecessary. As proof, here is the space utilization presentation Jorge gave to … Read more

Meet The Press: Chuck Todd goes citizen-shaming for a Govt screw up

A Democrat / Progressive definition:

Loophole: – any condition whereby there are insufficient laws or regulations which do not allow government to control an issue or situation down to the molecular level (and would prefer down to individual atom control).

Bernie Sanders not paying minimum wageAt 14 minutes into MTP, Chuck Todd was interviewing Bernie Sanders on gun control violence safety (those Progressives, they certainly burn through words to advance (and then screw up) their issues, don’t they?)  makes the case that citizens should suffer because of the inadequacies of govt – the Charlestown “loophole”:

Another thing that’s going to come upon the issue of gun safety is the issue of a waiting period. The Clinton campaign is hitting you for supporting only a 3 day waiting period or instant background checks and not being in favor something longer like a 5 day or a 7 day window. And the reason why this is being brought up is that Dylan Roof, the man who killed those 9 folks in Charleston last year. If it had been a longer waiting period, he might have been prevented from buying a gun.

Progressives are trying to “tout” that they have discovered yet one more area where ordinary people can “take advantage” of the all-beneficent Government that only wants what’s best for us.  What Todd, what Bernie, what Hillary, what any anti-gunner does not want to admit,

Marco Rubio – still a member of the Gang of Eight?

illegal alien signBoy, Marco squirms in and out of the “immigration hole” faster than the Eldest’s pet snake.  We Conservatives had problems with this former TEA Party darling since he decided that he would hook up with Senator Chuckie Schumer (D-NY) who basically took him to the cleaners w/respect illegal immigration.  A lot of us went “HUH?” when Schumer sent him forth to try to “convince” Conservatives “hey, this Amnesty isn’t all that bad!”.

Downhill from there and this has dogged him ever since.  This is what happens when you break the Consistency rule – on such an important issue, Trust has been lost.  The problem is that with Rubio’s constant straddling that line (like a football player doing foot drills, one side and then the other) with small steps first this side and then another.  So who knows what his real intentions are?  And today, he made it REAL problematic for himself and the primary voters on Meet The Press – it really was a head scratcher for me:

TODD: Let me ask you, by the way, quickly, on the eleven million [illegal aliens residing in the United States]. Are you still for find a way for them to stay legally in the United States?

Rubio: We are not going to be able to do anything on people who are here illegally until we first prove to people that illegal immigration is under control and America is safe.

Honeymooning in Moscow during the Cold War might be Hint #1

Sanders socialism/ communismAnd yes, the fact that Bernie Sanders chose to spend bring his new bride to Moscow should be a definite Red flag.  And while he easily calls himself a Socialist, remember that one is a Socialist on their way to becoming a Communist.  And Paul Sperry in a column in the NY Post pretty much lays that out – not Socialist but a Communist (reformatted, emphasis mine):

As polls tighten and self-described socialist Bernie Sanders looks more like a serious contender than a novelty candidate for president, the liberal media elite have suddenly stopped calling him socialist. He’s now cleaned-up as a “progressive” or “pragmatist.”  But he’s not even a socialist. He’s a communist.  Mainstreaming Sanders requires whitewashing his radical pro-Communist past. It won’t be easy to do.

Mizzou Has On-Line Form to Report People “Making Fun”

I’d be surprised if Mizzou didn’t get this idea from the Obama administration (Attack Watch, Truth Team, See something Say Something, etc.,). The University of Missouri is encouraging its students to file a report any time they hear someone make fun of another person on campus for any reason. In fact, Mizzou apparently considers campus teasing … Read more

Moreover, physical force in a man’s hand is an instrument of such brutal character that its very nature destroys or excludes the kindlier or better qualities of human nature. Meet The Press – Stephanie Cutter sees no difference between Socialists and Liberal Democrats

Breadlines -SocialismVsCapitalismOn Meet The Press today, Steve Schmidt (of the failed McCain campaign) brought out that 43% of Iowa Democrats self identify as Socialists and not as capitalists.  I didn’t know that but it is an eye-popping statistic lending credence that the Democrat Party has gone far more Left than the Republicans have gone  Right.  After all, I have put up the videos of DWS and Hillary unable to tell Chris Matthews what the difference is between those two points on the political spectrum.

And then this (Heh!):  Stephanie Cutter (former deputy campaign manager for Obama):

Iowa has always had, whether they call themselves Socialists or Liberal Democrats, has always had this tremendous liberal strain in the Democrat Party.  It was there in ’08 and it was there in 2012 which is why as an Obama campaign official, we never really pushed too hard back on the socialist arguments that people in your Party were making.

At least she’s honest about it.  After watching the show, I ran across the post from which this stat was mentioned:
