It seems rather quaint now, doesn’t it?

“Sadly, the world will never run out of busybody Malthusian socialists, it seems.”

The problem with the Left (and make no mistake, Carter certainly was a Leftist) is that they can only think in terms of the fixed, of the status quo.  They see what is, and in terms of what human potential, cannot see how human ingenuity can change the games.  Time after time, the Doomsayers have pronounced us dead and gone.  I’ve been hearing about peak oil for YEARS – and here we are, five years after Jimmah’s prediction and we still have oil.  LOTS and LOTS of oil – we are awash of it and there are some that are saying we may have under $1 / gallon.  Just a couple of years ago, I was paying close to $4/gallon – I just paid $1.75/gallon.

Some prediction.  That’s why I pretty much dismiss most ONLY because we will never know who or what is going to come up with a technilogical marvel that not just changes a game but a whole bunch of what we considered “status quo”
