The people of this country have shown they are fed up, they’ve had enough of politicians’ lies and deceitful ways.  But never has a NH politician shown just how bad it is before Senator David Pierce entered the competition to become the nation’s worst offender.

Senate Bill 336 is a piece of legislation written to end nearly 100 years of discriminatory practices over who can and cannot wear a coat or a blouse over a pistol or revolver.  While it is already legal in NH to carry a firearm that everyone can see, if it’s cold or if a lady prefers to hide her accessory, she needs permission, she needs to be found “suitable” by her local authority, typically the police chief.

But here’s the rub: for nearly 100 years, the definition of “suitable” has been in eye of the beholder and the hands of those who holds the power – the local police chief.

The press has been more than willing these days to publish the realities faced by women when confronted by those who see police powers as something to enhance their appeal to the opposite sex or see it as reason to abuse the trust of the community.  We have all read the story of the NH police chief who had women come in to take nude, or partially nude, photos in exchange for reduced charges, or for making charges – like DUI – disappear altogether.  We have read the story of a teen girl who joined the Police Explorer program only to be used for oral sex, an example – one might presume – of what the police officer saw as the responsibilities of female officers.  We see a NH chief indicted for false witness given, we are told, to help hide an improper affair happening and another NH chief who abused a female subordinate after an extramarital affair didn’t go as planned

The people described above want you to believe they can make a judgment about your “suitability” and Senator Pierce agrees.

Now that the NH FITN Prez Wannabe Beauty Contest is now long gone, we can start turning our attentions to what matters: NH (e.g., “screw DC, save NH”).  That certainly means it’s time to start watching and evaluating NH specific races which certainly includes the Governor one.  Ann Marie Banfield has an extensive email list to which I am on and this was one of her latest missives, pointing out Chris Sununu’s (current NH Executive Councilor and looking to upgrade to NH Governor) statement on NH’s continued engagement with Common Core (full content after the jump).  I read it and found it strangely worded (not to mention at after reading it several times, it was not clear how he had voted).

“Today the Governor and Department of Education asked for a vote by the Executive Council for a retroactive contract renewal with the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium for statewide academic testing of New Hampshire school students. Parents and teachers across the state have raised serious questions about Smarter Balanced testing and Common Core standards, and whether this is the right path for New Hampshire. Yet by bringing the contract before the Executive Council seven months late, the state has been put in a position of having to accept these tests and standards or risk losing over $250 million in federal funding.

“This is yet another example of the federal government forcing their priorities onto states by threatening to withhold funding from anyone who does not toe the line. This is a failure of leadership at both the national and state level, and I am committed to restoring local control to New Hampshire schools…

A feminist picnic turned into a complete disaster yesterday after none of the women brought any sandwiches.

The picnic was supposed to celebrate the capabilities of women in a safe, women-only environment, but things didn’t quite go as planned.  With the sun hanging high in the sky it seemed to be perfect weather for a picnic. But the seven proud feminist friends were in for a big surprise when none of them brought any food at all.

Smack Down! This past Monday, something took place that is extremely rare. The United States Supreme Court rebuked the Supreme Judicial Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  Even more intriguing is SCOTUS was not even kind about it, referring to their reasoning as, “bordering on frivolous.”

Background: Jaime Caetano was in a volatile relationship with a man she had children with. After a series of violent altercations, she found herself homeless and in constant fear for her life. Despite Multiple restraining orders, she was constantly stalked by her estranged boyfriend who towered above her by over a foot and was about 100 pounds heavier. Thereafter, a friend offered her a stun gun for personal protection and she accepted it.

Yesterday New Hampshire Senate Democrats decided to own racism, discrimination and gender bias. They voted against an amendment to Senate Bill 336 that would end over 90 years of state-sanctioned racism and discrimination. Rather than end these practices they decided to double down on them by voting for another amendment presented by Senator David Pierce that gives local authorities the means to freely discriminate against anyone for any reason they deem ‘suitable.’

The latest spike in License to Carry gun applications is expected to take Texas past a significant milestone.

CHL Licensed Instructor Michael Cargill owns Central Texas Gun Works.  He says the 140 percent jump in applications from December 2015 through February is caused by a combination of fears of terrorism brought on by the shootings in San Bernardino and President Obama’s proposed gun control laws.

“Then you have the new law that went into effect January the first (Open Carry)…all of that plays into it, and that’s why we’re seeing numbers. For the first time the State of Texas will actually go over one million licensed holders,” says Cargill.
