Quick thoughts: Alicia Preston on Donald Trump

Alicia Preston has an Op-Ed in the UL today (“Another View — Alicia Preston: I’m finally #NowTrump because I’m #NeverHillary“) talking about why she will now vote for Donald Trump.  In part, this caught my eye:

…I remembered two years ago how I tried to convince friends who were unhappy with Scott Brown as our nominee for U.S. Senate that they were wrong to support a third-party candidate or simply not vote; that the alternative was not better than Scott, and that no message is being sent, we’ll simply lose to the Democrats. (Which we did.)…

Well, if one puts winning as the only piece of the puzzle, being a Republican Republican for the sake of the Republican Party, well, she’s right and she makes the premise that if one is a Republican, only winning is important.  Sorry, that doesn’t cut it because “Winning is only a precursor; what is most important is what you do afterwards” and what Alicia wants us to swallow is that anything is ok – that winning “flushes away” any Democrat-lite actions or totally ignoring the Republican platform altogether

Sidenote: Really?  Ignoring that Republicans have instituted new taxes, bigger government, and Obamacare here in NH while making political speech harder here in NH, Alicia?  That’s OK?

So as far as that “we’ll simply lose to the Democrats” part is concerned, it brings this back to mind:

Liberal Zombies Endorse Paul Ryan as Hill’s VP Pick

Low information voters, otherwise known as Democrat progressive voters, support Hillary’s choice of Paul Ryan for VP.  Yes, you read that right.  Watch Mark Dice interview the brain dead.  But be ready to cringe when it sinks in that their vacuous vote counts just as much as yours does.

Al Baldasaro – Really? You’re surprised that Republican “Elite” went after you? Not me!

Thrown under the busAl, from this double Blue Star Dad, you’re still alright in my book – you go, Devil Dog!  Kevin Landrigan (not exactly likin’ on Conservatives byline) has a piece in the UL about Al Baldasaro’s truth telling on Hillary Clinton:

LONDONDERRY — Conservative Republican State Rep. Al Baldasaro never needs to go looking for controversy — it finds him.

Yeah, well that’s what happens when you tell the truth that the Political Class doesn’t like (been there, done that).  He’s right: selling out America’s uranium stocks to the Russians, abandoning the Benghazi four to die AND THEN LIED ABOUT IT, and selling out American interests after getting Bill lucrative speaking fees from despots and ne’er-do-wells world-wide?  The money laundering that is the Clinton Foundation?  Don’t get me started.  But the worst is the reaction of the “Establishment Republican Elite” acting like Democrats in waving down the nearest bus to throw him under – but he shouldn’t have been surprised.  After all, it seems that every chance she gets, NH GOP Chair Jennifer Horn grabs for those bus keys (and Kelly Ayotte has her driver’s permit) (emphasis mine, reformatted):

Blogline of the Day – make them live up to Kerry’s own rule book

Sign Petition: ‘Remove air conditioning from all US State Department property’ – Prompted By Kerry’s comments. Yep, if you recognize part of the post title – straight out of Alinsky. Or from this Conservatarian’s viewpoint – “Lead by example”. So, Donald Trump decides that all your money belongs Government (like the Democrats)?

tax policiesIt is well known that Democrats have been furious with companies undergoing tax inversions – a US company buys a foreign company and then moves its headquarters to that foreign entity.  Reason? US corporate taxes are too high compared to other countries.  Given that their legal fiduciary responsibility is to their shareholders, they do the deal.  However, our feckless Progressive politicians believe that they are ENTITLED, to THAT tax money and that companies are STEALING that money that “belongs” to them in government.

Doesn’t matter that it actually belongs to them that earned it.  That’s the selfishness of the Entitlement State.

And Donald Trump has joined that Democrat outcry, albeit for a different reason (emphasis mine, reformatted):

Notable Quote – Weiying Zhang

Under the planned economy, we did not pursue happiness by making others happy. Instead, we pursued happiness by making others unhappy. Our energies were spent fighting for power and gain. We were competing, even competing for life and death, but we were not creating value. -Weiying Zhang ( The Logic of the Market) Prof DonBoudreaux … Read more

Project Veritas has figured out how Dems will really ban guns

Just ask them – and our friend James O’Keefe did just that. The key to the Democrat strategy?  Like always during a campaign – they won’t be truthful about what they really want to do.  Obfuscate.  Equivocate. Shade it.  Doubletalk it. Distract it.  Skew.  Change the language.  Or simple, outright lie. (H/T: The Truth About … Read more

The Progressive “Administrative State” is unConstitutional

We have lost the government we learned about in civics class, with its democratic election of representatives to do the voters’ will in framing laws, which the president vows to execute faithfully, unless the Supreme Court rules them unconstitutional. That small government of limited powers that the Founders designed, hedged with checks and balances, hasn’t operated for a century. All its parts still have their old names and appear to be carrying out their old functions. But in fact, a new kind of government has grown up inside the old structure, like those parasites hatched in another organism that grow by eating up their host from within, until the adult creature bursts out of the host’s carcass. This transformation is not an evolution but a usurpation.

From a longish post on how the Progressives have subverted the Constitutional philosophy of self-Government – I highly suggest that you all go read it. As you do so, consider the other half of “self-government” – the ability for each one of us how to conduct our own “Pursuit of Happiness” or self  government – as in our own daily lives in making our own decisions of what is best for ourselves.  Once again, I ask “Is there any area of your life in which Government has not already decided (and therefore, limited) what it is that you can choose for yourself?  Emphasis mine:

What has now largely displaced the Founders’ government is what’s called the Administrative State—a transformation premeditated by its main architect, Woodrow Wilson. The thin-skinned, self-righteous college-professor president, who thought himself enlightened far beyond the citizenry, dismissed the Declaration of Independence’s inalienable rights as so much outmoded “nonsense,” and he rejected the Founders’ clunky constitutional machinery as obsolete.

Data Point – Crony Capitalism’s reliance on lobbying shrinks the Free Market

“Ugh, what a dismal observation on the state of our economy. Companies are almost making as much money from manipulating Washington as they earn from serving consumers. Heck, just consider the way politically connected financial institutions tilt the playing field for unearned goodies.” (H/T: Dan Mitchell)

John Kerry is Coming for Your Air Conditioner

air-conditioningWhen we tell you “it is never enough,” or “They will never stop,” we are not kidding.

“As we were working together on the challenge of [ISIS] and terrorism,” Kerry said. “It’s hard for some people to grasp it, but what we–you–are doing here right now is of equal importance because it has the ability to literally save life on the planet itself.”

Kerry said that most of the substances banned in the Montreal Protocol have increased the use of HFCs and claimed that the coolant was thousands of times more potent than CO2. He added that the increase of HFCs has led to the trend of global climate change.

Wonder Woman: Sword-Wielding Bad-Ass

The Comi-Con trailer for the Movie reimaging of Wonder Woman is out. I did not see her in Batman v. Superman yet so perhaps this is old news but this iteration has the suitably attractive former Miss Israel Gal Gadot portraying the Amazonian Princess as a shield-bashing, rope wrapping, sword-wielding bad-ass circa WWI. I admit the trailer was … Read more
