I haven’t yet commented on Hillary’s “deplorable” outburst yet, but New England talker and Boston Herald columnist Howie Carr has and is offering up, a la Jeff Foxworthy’s “you might be a redneck if” style way of showing who Hillary Clinton was targeting (emphasis mine):

In case you’ve been wondering which side you’re on, you may be a deplorable if you stand for the National Anthem.

Or if you know all the words to the Pledge of Allegiance, especially, “under God.”

Or if when you go to Market Basket, you tend to buy generic products, because you’re using your own money, not an EBT card.

You may be a deplorable if you just got your car inspected.

Assistant Mayor of Portsmouth, NH, Jim Splaine, is in a self-created Right to Know jam. As an advocate for openness in government for as long as New Hampshire has taken the issue seriously, he should know the ropes as well as anyone.

Here goes my take on the situation. I have a few years of Right to Know battles under my belt as well. And I have been involved in similar circumstances.

A City police officer let an elderly woman, citizen, taxpayer, of Portsmouth, who was suffering from dementia, put him in her will. This act has caught the entire city of Portsmouth in a tangled web of dirty municipal politics.

If you have not yet read this, please do. It is long but important. Then, read this (a follow up based on reaction to the first), from whence the pull quote below, was…um, pulled. Also important, in my opinion.

The former referred to go-along, get-along conservative intellectuals, who could do with a double dose of thymos. Several writers on the Left obligingly made the point. Good conservatism adheres to the parameters we set for you. You may say this, but not this. If you do and say what we tell you to, your reward will be that we will call you racist Nazis a little less. Also, what we allow as “good conservatism” will drift ever leftward, so that something we permitted a year or two ago is subject to revocation without notice and you better get on board immediately or the deal is off.

There’s an interesting article over at NHPR. The hook at WBUR is How New Hampshire’s Seacoast Communities Are Preparing For Climate Change. The actual article is titled N.H.’s Seacoast Prepares for a Rising Sea in Surprising Ways.

With credit to the second title, there are some interesting “ideas” to address the problems of storm swell and rising water, but these solutions are prefaced with a lie.

3:PM the day after.
Guinta appears to have held off Ashooh in CD-1 and your “Republican Nominee for Governor” is Chris Sununununununununu.

Jim Lawrence won but neither the race for Governor nor the contest in CD-1 have been called. They are both too close. WMUR has Guinta up by less than 700 votes. Sununu is listed as ahead of Edelblut by 1051. I haven’t checked but I’m guessing they will both call for recounts before anything official is announced.

Dan Innis was ahead of Steve Kenda in State Senate Dist. 24. Leon Rideout was trailing in Dist 1. George Lambert appears to have won his State Senate primary (I think…). More to follow.

Still tight…Sununu is back on top with a 200 vote lead.  Back and forth. Same deal in CD-1 between Ashooh and Guinta.  CD-2 looks like a clean Jim Lawrence victory. He’s up by 12% and has been for a while. He has 2000 votes on Flanagan.  And I am calling it quits soon.

10:00 Jasper Lives. He managed to come in 8th out of 11 seats.

Frank Edelblut has the lead again, as much as 350 votes but hovering just over 200. Could be a long night. Gatsas is done but has not conceded. Jim Lawrence now has a 12 point lead over Flanagan.

Sununu has retaken a 200 vote lead. No major changes in the other races.  Still no word from Hudson.

Katie Couric and her Director purposefully edited a film to advance the progressive view of guns and gun owners and now it could cost them. The Virgina Citizens Defense League is suing for damages.

“the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL), along with two of its members, today filed a $12 million defamation lawsuit against Katie Couric, director Stephanie Soechtig, Atlas Films, and Studio 3 Partners LLC d/b/a Epix for false and defamatory footage featured in the 2016 documentary film Under the Gun.”

Update #3

I took the pup, who is now 6 months old, back to the specialist in Concord, New Hampshire on Monday afternoon.

The injury has not (so far) interfered with normal bone and ligament growth and at this point does not appear that it will (Yeah!). That means he should not need surgery, and for the time being (assuming nothing changes) no more pricey jaunts to the Vet for meds, radiographs, or examinations–all of which was made more tolerable by your generous donations.

He may always have the cellulitis (a lump) that grew around the joint after he tore the ligament but it is not causing pain nor does it inhibit movement or function. The muscle in his injured leg has caught up to the good leg thanks to a careful and measured increases in daily walks–or maybe I should call them tugs, pulls, or drags, depending on what he things need sniffing along the way.

For all intents and purposes, unless he presents some new symptom, he’s back on full duty. Thanks again to everyone who donated.

Americans for Prosperity Highlights Ongoing Explosive Job Growth Since Tax Relief for Employers Took Effect

MANCHESTER – Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) highlighted today’s release of August unemployment data showing the eighth straight month of major job gains following business tax cuts that took effect on January 1st.  In August, 1,750 more New Hampshire residents found employment.  According to federal data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in the eight months since the tax cuts became law, the state has averaged 2,159 more jobs added per month.  Additionally, another 2,270 New Hampshire citizens entered the workforce, bringing the total up to 757,080, the largest number of potential workers in state history, and an increase of 16,751 since the tax cuts took effect.
