Again, some unsolicited advice that I wrote on Nov. 12, 2016: “If the NH Republican Party wants to win, and win Consistently, act like you believe in the Platform. Speak like you do and at each and every turn. ”
Vote like you do at each and every opportunity. And Legislate like there’s no tomorrow because two days ago was that “no more tomorrow” – and you blew it.
So I get email missives from the NH House Republican Office (perhaps not after this!). Glad I get them; sometimes, self-congratulatory info and some make me fume. So, here is some unsolicited advice. First, the “missive.”

Concord, NH- House Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn) released the following statement after House Democrats continuously supported extremist abortion bills.
“Last term the New Hampshire House came together in a bipartisan manner and passed a law that upheld our basic values regarding this issue on a unanimous vote. I have been clear that Republicans would not support any efforts to expand restrictions on abortion. It is unfortunate that the Democrats have held onto their radical position and refuse to work with Republicans on this issue.
While it is easy for extremist Democrats to use heated rhetoric to try to advance their radical agenda, the fact of the matter is that public opinion is not on their side. The current House Democratic position is to allow abortion on-demand and up until the very moment of birth. Republicans acknowledge the truth that Granite Staters identify as pro-choice, but also know that over two-thirds of Granite Staters support some restrictions on abortion. Our current law satisfies and represents the majority of Granite Stater’s views on abortion. Today’s votes prove the Republicans are not the extremists on this issue.”

For anyone that isn’t conversant with the inside baseball of this, that might be sufficient: Dems bad, Repubs good. Simplistic at best. While I make NO claim to be an expert and seer within the House machinations, I’m tired of the Republicans bashing the Democrats – but only the Democrats. Too many of us watchers, with experience built over the years, are tired of seeing a gain by the Republicans erased (and not the transgender trite epithet of “you want to erase me!!!” used against anyone that doesn’t believe that one sex can be the other) by the Democrats…
Background – a limitation of abortions after the 24th week of gestation was prohibited by a Republican bill last session
…with the help of renegade Republicans. Generally, by a small number thereof, but that’s all it takes this session where the Republicans have only a 6-vote majority. And in this case, it looks like either the Repub Whips (those folks whose job it is to “whip the votes” – make sure that the Republicans actually vote like Republicans) but failed this time – OR got lied to. Otherwise, why would the Speaker and Leadership hold the vote on these two bills, given the topic of Abortion, without knowing they could defeat these Democrat bills? That’s the whole POINT of having Whips – the Early Warning Network to watch out for Win or Defeat
The aim of these two bills by the Dems were to effectively either neuter the penalties for doing an abortion after the 24-week cutoff or erase last year’s bill completely. Why would the Republican Leadership allow votes on them when you know they’d pass and give Dems great joy in defending their Moloch celebrations?
These baby-killing Republicans did both. And the same two Belknap Republicans, supported/endorsed by the Democrat Political Action Committee, Citizens for Belknap, appear on both. Ronnie Abbot is going to have a cow that I’m holding Republicans accountable by calling them out:

And maybe that’s our unofficial official job to be done (and done better if it is) if the NH Republican institutions refuse to maintain political discipline.What will it take for the NH GOP and its elected officials to do what I posted at the top of this post? Over and over again, it’s a replay of then US Senator John McCain, after years of the Republicans say that they’d repeal Obamacare, step up to vote and vote NO and killed that Republican bill.
And they wonder why we on the outside get so cynical of their Republican brand? I think too many Republicans, under the rubric of “A Republican’s Republican for the sake of the Republican Party” combined with that ersatz mantra of “don’t criticize Republicans” of that ill-used Ronaldus Magnus’s “11th Commandment” give free reign and take away Accountability from those that deserve it. It certainly hasn’t been the case that the NH GOP, historically, has defended its reputation and brand all that well, has it? As I have said/written before, and I guess I’ll have to continue saying it until I can no longer do so:
GraniteGrok espouses Conservatarian Republican ideals more in a week (or even less) than the NH GOP and other Republican Leadership do in a year. And I know we do a better job doing it, too.
Prove me wrong – start counting them versus us.
And they wonder why cynicism reigns supreme at times like this?
Does everyone have to agree all the time? No. But on those items that matter majorly and that are part of the NH GOP Platform they are supposed to support, and the Constitutions they swear oaths to, I say that before I support them, they need to support those first.
Showing who the Dems are (in this case, unborn baby haters) is needful. Doing the same to Republicans voting like them is also necessary.
And remember, Bordes is the Vice-Chair of the Belknap County Delegation! Isn’t a Leadership role supposed to be a role model??
Guess he doesn’t remember why Steve Duprey, in part, was given the heave-ho out of his NH GOP RNC Committeeman seat? Nagel, too.
