Could DNC’s Latest Draft Proposal Kill NH’s First in the Nation Primary?

The Democrat National Committee has drafted a proposal to change how they conduct primaries. In the last two Presidential contests, the DNC essentially picked the nominee, but that’s not the change they are suggesting. Not yet.

A draft resolution, obtained and corroborated by the Des Moines Register, would set new criteria for early-voting states that favor primaries over caucuses and diversity over tradition.

Iowa will probably lose its coveted early status as both a caucus because it is a caucus and…Iowa is not “diverse™.”

It is 90% white which brings me to the headline.

New Hampshire is 93% white, and another feature of recent primary seasons has been the cascade of whiney libs moaning about how the Granite State is NOT diverse.

Which are the most diverse? According to this site, the honor belongs to these states.

Hawaii, California, Nevada, Texas, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Florida, New Mexico, Georgia

The least Diverse? New Hampshire is #4 behind Maine, Vermont, and West Virginia.

If the DNC is serious about the diversity angle, New Hampshire might be able to swing a waiver this time, but by 2028, all things being the same in the Demographic Party, that honors gone.

They seem very committed to perpetuating this fraud that they care about diversity. They do not. Ask anyone black, Hispanic, or gay who is not all in on conception t birth abortion or who thinks we should secure our borders. Or who thinks academics are more important than social justice in public schools.

But the Primary is something that both local state parties and their candidates have agreed to fight to keep.

Do the local Dems fight for a waiver. Yes, I think they do. I think Shaheen, Hassan, Pappas, Kuster, and anyone else they can wrangle do whatever they can to keep that spot on the primary calendar for the same reason Republicans would.

The Granite State’s place on the political calendar makes it a primary vacation destination. Political tourism. Our hotels fill up with reporters and pundits and pols and camp followers for the better part of a year. They wander our byways spending a fortune on gas and liquor and tobacco and in our restaurants.

There’s a lot of money on the table.

There are also meetings and parties and pressers and glad-handing and jobs on campaigns that could last months or years no matter which donkey you decide to ride. (The same is true for the elephants in the room).

And the cameras and microphones are to Live Free and Die for!

And that First in the Nation Primary thing is the only reason many Americans have heard of New Hampshire or have a vague idea of its shape.

“It’s a kind of squidgy triangle” – but do not expect anyone outside the Northeast to point it out even after googling it, especially for Democrats. We’ve got White Mountains (racist!) about our state potato is White (RACISTS!), but the state does not look white on most maps.

I know what you’re thinking, New Hampshire has a state potato?

My point is that this has nothing to do with demographics, the electorate, or even skin color. It is about power and money and influence and perception. Every other argument is donkey sh!t.

It’s about influence or at least the perception of it.

Not as many would come here if New Hampshire were pushed down the calendar into a Super Tuesday or even just out of a top three. Granite Stater’s wouldn’t get to ask every a**hole who thinks they can be president a question, but their votes might begin to count.

We might also be able to wrestle control of the Republican party away from the local a**holes who would no longer have the connections and attention afforded them by that early primary status.

Do I like the unusual amount of attention and focus, sure? We get a lot of traffic out of that. But I’d give some of that up for a shot at improving election integrity any day.
