Ask NH Reps to Vote to Protect Everyone’s Freedom of Speech

New Hampshire bill HB1625, the Sidewalk Free Speech Act, is scheduled to be voted on by the full NH House this week. The Act would repeal the unconstitutional buffer zone law which allows private abortion businesses to designate up to 25 feet of the public sidewalk and street as no-free-speech zones where even silent prayer is not allowed.

Virtually all the Democrat state reps are expected to vote against the bill because they do not value our civil liberties. And there may not be enough Republicans who value our civil liberties either to overcome the lack of support from the Democrats.

What can you do? Contact your reps and ask them to vote to overturn the Inexpedient to Legislate recommendation from the committee and then vote Ought to Pass on HB1625.

Tell them that this is not just about protecting the speech of people who pray and do outreach on the public sidewalks outside abortion facilities. It is about everyone’s freedom of speech. Because if the state can take it away from one group of people, they can take it away from everyone.

Thank you to Cornerstone for lobbying for HB1625, Ellen Kolb of Leaven for the Loaf for excellent coverage of the buffer zone law and repeal efforts, and NH Liberty Alliance for endorsing repeal of the buffer zone law.
