Panic! The sky is falling and all our coastal cities will be under water in ten years!
Wait, that was predicted twenty some years ago wasn’t it? Now, though, yet another environmental group decided to block morning traffic coming to work in NYC because the “city will be under water by 2200.” So is the planet warming? Doesn’t seem so much so as our winters have been very winter like and summers, well summer like, but those who ascribe to the end of the world global warming theory insist it is and we Americans are responsible and must fix it.
Only thing wrong with this narrative is here in the U.S. we have gone to excessive extremes to clean up our acts while countries like China, Russia are exempt from the Paris Accords. Oh please.
Yes, we are a large country but nowhere near large enough to do what environmentalists expect us to do all by ourselves. Plus these same activists have tied our hands behind our backs in the energy production fields. The only true clean energy producing system known is atomic energy. Somehow it’s taboo to say but I’m saying it: it’s time environmentalists revisited their thinking on it.
Putting the cart before the horse by shutting down our oil and fossil fuels production before there is even any semblance of anything to replace it with is not only dumb it’s criminal. Please forget telling us about solar panels and wind turbines. Those take tons of energy and years to produce and build enough of them and are the least efficient energy producing option. Millions of American homes will be heated this winter by fossil fuels and will be for the next three or four decades at least. This fact escapes the activists who want what they want and want it now!
It will not happen because most American families can not afford the conversions from existing systems even if there were enough panels and turbines.
Already we are experiencing the near doubling of gas and oil prices heading into the cold months and since we are now dependent on foreign oil once again, we can expect shortages and increasing costs. So is this the “Build Back Better” voters were promised or just another political catch phrase?
I think the latter.
Not only will our energy be affected by the Left’s appeasement practices toward any and every sub culture group whether moral or criminal, reasonable or unreasonable or just plain crazy, it will create more division, crime and violence.
So can anyone tell me why we are all supposed to go down and worship at the feet of environmentalists who cannot provide for our immediate survival needs this winter or next, and the ones for the next decade or two? When they have some kind of practical plan besides pie in the sky I’ll be glad to listen.
Until then I’m watching TV reruns.
